  1. If you are shooting reloads, wait until you are settled with one recipe. Different bullet weight, powder charge, even same bullet weight just different maker or OAL will change the POI.

I have seen fully adjustable M&P rear sight on a M&P 2.0 5" FDE at my range, imported from Europe I believe.

I have a bit of an odd occurrence. I have several M&P’s. Around 7-8 maybe more. Anyway, most if not all have the Apex triggers. I recently bought 3 new M&P 2.0’s. One 4” compact, one 4.25” full size, and one 5” full size. All 3 got the exact same trigger system from Apex. The two full size guns have been 100% so far to about 2k rounds. The Compact was good for a few hundred and began to light strike. It will pop Federal primers all day but will light strike on the others. I’m not sure what could be the difference? Same guns, same trigger, same installation. Two of them will run, one not so much.

Called Apex, they sent me a new sear. Still didn’t change anything. Called them again and they’re saying my trigger bar might be out of spec and that I would need to order a new one.

Anyone experienced anything like this before? Any thoughts as to what the issue might be?

I had exactly the same experience. No light strike on all my 5" 2.0 models, only on 4" compact model. Called APEX, they blame the gun...

Here is how I fixed the problem (and later I found out a very pleasant surprise by-product of the fix): After taking the gun apart, I suspect that it is the APEX ultimate striker block being slightly larger in dimension than the factory one, it is a very tiny difference but big enough to prevent the striker being released cleanly. So I put the factory striker block back in. I immediately notice the difference in the sound the striker makes when drying firing, it's crisp and a bit louder, which is a good sign. After ~2k rounds without a single slight strike I am pretty sure I fixed the problem. A friend of mine actually won CCP division in IDPA Liberty Match in PA last week with the gun.

Here is the pleasant surprise by-product: Technically when you put the factory striker block back, you should also use the factory spring that comes with it. I forgot to do it, and still used the shorter APEX striker block spring. Then I noticed that the trigger pull weight is reduced further. I measured it, it is indeed reduced from 3.5lbs (with both apex block and spring) to 2.75lbs (with factory block and apex spring). I was a bit concerned that this might prevent the block from function properly, meaning block the striker when the trigger is not pulled, but so far it doesn't seem so. I check it every now and then by taking the slide down and push the striker with my finger, It doesn't move! I will keep checking it every 1k rounds, just to make sure it still works.

  3. +1 for Cleanshot.

    Pros:

    1. Cost less than N320, about the same as Titegroup

    2. Meters extremely consistent on Dillon powder measure, better than Titegroup, much better than N320

    3. Much more clean burning than Titegroup, on par with N320

    4. Plenty in stock, even in crazy 2020

    Cons:

    1. For the same bullet weight to get to the same pf, it requires 0.3 - 0.4 gr more compared to Titegroup.

My recipe: Gallant bullet 147gr rn loaded to 1.110" OAL, federal primer, when use 3.4gr cleanshot, average pf is 129 with SD 4 - 7, when use 3.6gr cleanshot, average pf 132 with SD 8 -10. Temperature 70 degrees. All test rounds uses brass with the same headstamp.

I was running low on Sport Pistol recently, and picked up some Clean Shot to try out.  I shot some through a chrono, along with a few known loads.  Based on some older Clean Shot threads here, and load data from Shooters World and Alliant, I was expecting a similar charge weight to SP or something similar.

My load was Eggleston 124gr .356 bullets, Win range brass, Fed SPP primers, 1.10 OAL.  3.8gr of Sport Pistol, 3.8gr of Win 244, and 3.7gr of N320 all chrono'd at ~130pf.  But 4.1gr of Clean Shot got me to 126pf.

Otherwise, it was the most accurate load, clean and not particularly hot.

Anyone else have similar results with charge weight?

Same experience with this powder. 3.2gr titegroup or 3.4gr N320 takes 147gr bullet to 910 ft/s (133pf), while 3.4gr of clean shot only gave me 880 ft/s (129pf).

  5. Tried Clean Shot and Gallant Bullets for the first time over the weekend. Very impressed by the result.

This powder meters very consistently on Dillon powder measure.

Bullet: Gallant Bullet 147gr round nose

    Brass: Federal
    OAL: 1.125"

    Powder Charge: 3.4gr

    Pistol: M&P 2.0 Performance Center Pro C.O.R.E

    Barrel Length: 5"

    Barometric Pressure: 30.2 in Hg
    Temperature: 76 F

Shots: 2 groups of 10 shots

    Group 1:                                                    Group 2:
    Average: 881 ft/s                                      Average: 881 ft/s
    SD: 4 ft/s                                                  SD: 7 ft/s
    Min: 875 ft/s                                             Min: 867 ft/s
    Max: 884 ft/s                                            Max: 888 ft/s
    Spread: 10 ft/s                                         Spread: 21 ft/s
Power Factor Average: 129                     Power Factor Average: 129
Power Factor Low: 128                            Power Factor Low: 127
Power Factor High: 130                           Power Factor High: 130

I will try change the charge to 3.6gr to see if I can get it to 131pf on average. From shooter's world reloading manual, the maximum load with this powder and 147gr Hornady XTP jacketed bullet is 3.7gr, with average 910 ft/s muzzle velocity. If 3.6gr gives me 900 ft/s average muzzle velocity and mid single digit SD, I will stick to this powder as long as it is in production.
