  1. I bought the Redding 9mm competition die based on all the talk and articles I read stating this die is the most accurate for seating bullets. Let me say I am not seeing this come to fruition. I have set the die up and I am getting huge differences in OAL from bullet to bullet. I thought this die would maybe have a difference of .01 or so but I am getting differences greater than that and in some cases a OAL difference of .10. What gives? I am shooting USPSA Limited Minor and these differences can cause issues when going to chrono. Any help in setting this up to not have a huge OAL difference would be greatly appreciated.

In So Cal primers are available from between $80 to $120 a thousand. I've got 10k, but when those are gone I'm shooting .22s. When those are gone, I'm done shooting until prices come down.

Any way you can help out a fellow reloaded with some primers if you can get them?

  3. though I'm loading for 9mm minor, not major - I didn't see much difference in OAL consistency going from Dillon to Redding - but it's much easier to adjust the Redding. One exception was Xtreme jacketed bullets, my OAL was all over the place with Dillon and cleaned up some with Redding. I suspect its probably more to do with the seater stem shape and where it contacts the ogive. I also have the new Lyman PRo series with a micrometer adjustment. It's beefier than the Redding. Very heavy. It has two different stems - one for RN and one for FP.  Looks very promising. Maybe that's an option for you if you can't find  Redding in stock. Edited to add - I have't tried the Lyman Pro's yet. I'll see if I can time this weekend to try them out.

  4. Wanted to ask the group if the load and OAL provided by DD78 on the first page would change if I went from playyed 147gn bullet to 147gn FMJ from RMR? I want the same PF. Thanks again for all the information.

It is compared to almost every powder. Back when powder was hard to find, Powder Valley received a huge shipment of N320 so I bought a lot. Even after running out of it a couple years ago I still buy it. It shoots soft, is accurate, burns clean, and I am too lazy to experiment with other powders. In the grand scheme of things, how much is it adding to the per round price, a penny maybe?

DD78 I am getting really squirrely accuracy with the load you provided me. Not sure what the problem is. How is your accuracy out of your gun?

  6. I appreciate everyone's response. Think I am going to try N320 as suggested earlier. I have never used it so why not try it. Great to know this forum has a wealth of knowledge for us sophomore reloaders.

I’ve been using the exact same load shooting it out of that exact same gun for 3 years.

9mm 147 grain Xtreme Bullets round nose.

    1.142”

    3.4 grains VV N320.

That loads gives you a 129-130 PF that feels lighter out of the DVC limited.

Appreciate the response DD78. VV powder is freaking expensive though I have never tried it.

  8. Just got me a STI DVC Limited and am looking for load data for a 147gn Extreme RN obviously making minor PF. I am new to this forum so if there is already load information please point me in the right direction. Thanks.
