Heavy packages can routinely take 2-3 weeks to make their way through the postal service these days. It will most likely show up at some point.

Just disappointing is all.  Good news is I am not desperately low at this time.

i can wait it out for awhile.  I am trying to learn more patience in matters such as these 😀

I am new to reloading and have loaded 800rds 9mm so far.  I fired the first 300rds without issue but was getting a huge spread on my OAL and couldn't figure out why so I started sorting my brass just so I could run everything the same.  I loaded four so far FC, Blazer, S&B and *USA*.

FC and Blazer seemed to be spot on with what I set the seating die up for 1.080, FC was right on Blazer tad longer in 1.082-4 range.  I loaded 300rds of these two and all of them case gauged in the Hundo nicely too.

S&B and *USA* were both way to long at 1.090-1.094 with all of these rounds failing the plunk test in my CZ chamber.  I loaded about 50 rds of these two cases and the results were all the same and very consistent.  I am going to try Winchester cases today.

I also pulled all the WMA and WCC Winchester brass as I believe it is crimped?

Does anyone know what FC 19 or FC 18 cases are I did a search and not finding anything?  I pulled them suspecting military brass but they don't look like they have crimp and are definitely different than the std FC case?  I found the thread on FC NT but these are definitely FC 19 or a few FC 18.

Does anyone know who makes *USA* brass I found a thread talking about it and it was determined its not starline?

I also found a few lists of headstamps to avoid is there a good source for what not to use?  I know to throw out Ammoland and PMC any others?

I load all 9mm brass with the exception of the stepped stuff and Extreme without issue.  Many threads on 9mm stepped brass here.  Should find it easily.  Extreme is hit and miss on primer pockets retaining the primer.

FC18 and 19 is most likely military.  Remove the crimp and load it.  Same for all military brass.

This is how I have rolled my own for many years and only what I do.  Others will come along and comment on your OAL and FC brass question.  Will also give a list of good and bad brass and also say what I have said about loading all brass.

Once you read all the opinions, you can form your own and move forward.  Remember, use many sources to learn as well as your new experiences.  This is the fun part of reloading.

  4. When I replied, I should have provided more info.

Mine is a XDm 5.25.  Of significance is I bought a plate and put a red dot on it.  Now, my 14 year old granddaughter is shooting it and shot her first USPSA match last Saturday.  She is so hooked that I am afraid this is going to get expensive 😀.

  5. Up here in Wisconsin, seems like the cool kids are all using them.  There are several that have really drank the Kool-aid and decked them out wit many of the available accessories.  From my observations, they work fine.  Better for the price.

I am not one of the cool kids.  I am using a converted 3 wheel running stroller.

  6. BV,

You will get a dozen opinions on this, but I load them without a problem for 9major.

I think most but not all case separations are those nasty stepped brass cases like older FM and others that can be found in numerous threads on this forum.

My opinion is load them up and shoot them.

P.S.  9mm brass is so cheap, if you are truly concenered or have doubts, load them to minor or recycle them 😀

There was a USPSA Front Site article on this issue and a mod.   Most certainly referenced someplace on this forum on where to modify. I have done this mod and used the  uplula mag loader hundreds of times with my gen 2 STI mags.

if I find the reference, I will post it.  A search of the entire site would also produce it.

  9. Spacers, not so much with gen 2's.   Gen 1 mags, yes.  Two entirely different designs.  As TRPOperator said above, thousands and thousands of 9mm through my gen 2's without a problem and without spacers.  Once they were tuned.

Now with all that said, if spacers make your mags work, why not?  But once properly tuned you do not need them for gen 2's.  Do what ever works.

  10. Go out to YouTube and look for the video from Atlas Gunworks.  They show how the body is not correctly tapered and show how to fix it.  While out there, look at the rest of their mag tuning and troubleshooting videos.  Great stuff.

  11. One club here in Wisconsin that I will only shoot one match a year at, their points series match, has a rule if you use any swear words, you get  dq'!   Have not heard it happen, but like stated, I will not go their but for one match.  The group I shoot with will not go either.
