[Which is most accurate?]

Hello everyone. I am needing some help with my 9mm recipe of 147gr plated FP from RMR with titegroup. I initially tried 1.100 3.4gr titegroup as per Hodgdon but it was too long for my CZ SP-01. Then, I shortened it to 1.075 and keeping 3.4gr and that worked. However, when I used this recipe for my VP9, the recoil was pretty strong. It wasn't as easy to detect the increased recoil in the SP-01 maybe because of its weight. 

 

So, I decided to go lower on the powder and did a string of  2.9, 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 and went to the range this morning. These all cycled the slide and were very pleasant to shoot but I am trying to understand which number to go with. I've attached a photo of what I did today but can't tell which one is most accurate between 2.9, 3.0, and 3.2. Would a chronograph be necessary?

Be just a little easier to use RN bullets than SWC.

 

I used to use WW231 when I reloaded .45 - worked great.

I did use the plunk test on my 1911 when I had it. As far as checking COL , I use digital calipers. I also have a chamber gauge for all calibers I reload. When I switch between powders in the hopper, I try to make sure that it is empty and all previous powder is gone. If you empty the hopper and work the drop several times you should get it clear to add your new powder. YMMV.

Hello everyone. Please excuse me for making my first post asking for help already. It is just that I’m very excited to start reloading 45 ACP and wanted to make sure everything was good. I have been reloading 9mm and 38/357 magnum. So, here’s a few details:

 

-231 powder (will test 4.6-5.2 incrementally)

-200gr Bayou SWC with hi-tek coating

-Stock 1911

 

Questions:

 

How important is it that the powder measure internals be super clean of the titegroup I use for 9mm before adding in 231 powder?

 

Can the plunk test work for 1911s or is there another way to make sure COL is good to go?
