  1. 2.2.3.3 Unless otherwise specified in the written stage briefing, all such

barriers, walls, vision barriers and snow fence barriers will be

considered to go from the ground to the height as constructed.

Does soft cover equal vision barrier? If I can see through it is at a barrier? If so can I shoot under it?

Just a thought, figured someone could possibly have an opinion............

  2. Hi Guys,

The rumor about us being full up was a little premature when it came out a day or two ago... but it is true now. We're actually just north of our 200 shooter cap. We were at 198 yesterday so the six lucky dog entries that came in today all got in to close us out.

If you did not get a slot, we will be starting a waiting list because there are always a few last minute cancellations. To get on it, send in a completed match app. but don't include any payment. As slots open up I'll go down the list contacting shooters to see if they're still interested in the slot. If you get in off the wait list you can just pay when you get to the match.

Other than that the match is really starting to come together. We've got a generous bunch of vendors coming this year that I'll be posting links to on the match website hopefully tomorrow. Steve (MrClean) has done a great job rounding up sponsors and prizes for us this year, and Pat (Bwana6Gun) is bringing the prize table wine and the hospitality keg for Saturday night as usual. Everyone is invited to hoist a glass (or seven) with us at the Saturday night get together under the new pavilion at the range.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple weeks.

    John

One keg??:surprise: Is Drawand Duck signed up? If so I foresee a problem already........

  3. Due to changes in plans, I was in a crappy mood before shooting this match and the results prove it. I did however shoot with one of the very best squads (Squad 7) I have ever shot with. Reaffirmed some friendships and made some new ones. Every single stage it was difficult to find a target to paste or a steel to paint. That continued for two days all the way to the last stage.

I also was asked to serve on an arbitration committee. With the wealth of rules info I have garnered from Mark Ramsey and all of you, I figured bing-bam-boom, five minutes and this would be over. Two hours later we came up with a decision, whether we liked it or not. If you've never been on an arb committee, rest assured it's not all black and white. I recommend everyone asked to do it at least once.

Lastly thanks to Atlanta Arms and ammo for my generous door prize and all the staff that worked so hard to make it happen.

  4. I always use the U die for my 9 major loads if for no other reason to help prevent bullet setback. There's already plenty of pressure with 9 major without risking more. Always, always chamber check afterwards though. 9 is a different animal than 40. You will have more case guage failures with 9.

  5. So, today I decide to change the oil in my Ford Explorer. The last time I had the oil changed, I took it to a shop to have it done because I did not have time. So, today, I drive it up on the ramps and get everything together to start. As I go to get the socket on the drain plug, I see that it is completely rounded off. I mean royally screwed-up. SO, off to the parts store to by another (I wanted to make sure I could get a replacement before I screwed this one up more trying to get it off). Vise-grips and pounding on it will a hammer finally got it free. After I replace the filter I go back to put the drain plug in. I wipe the residual oil off and see that someone had cross-threaded the threads in the oil pan and in an effort to cover up, repaired it with a heli-coil kit. :angry2::angry2: I was never told that this happened when I took it to have the oil changed.....

A lot of facilities pay their oil change people virtually nothing. They get what they pay for and have a ton of turnover. I have 4 guys that do basic service and together they have several decades of experience, oh and they get paid well.

Helicoil? It would be extremely difficult to install a helicoil, not to mention require much more skill than doing an oil change. Some vehicles have a steel insert in the aluminum pan from the factory. You sure that's not the case?

  6. Well, now I know. Is there a cheap degreaser I'm missing the boat on as well??

Non-Chlorinated brake parts cleaner. Basically the same as Gun Scrubber. $2 a can at Wal-Mart.

Best to keep it away from plastics (fiber optics) and paint. Apply oil to anything that might rust after using brake cleaner. I can get all the brake cleaner I want but I've switched to simple green as a safer alternative.

  7. I got the kit from dawson. Pretty easy to use. You need to have a bench vise and a brass hammer (Brownells), but other than that the kit is complete. Tuning is important, but Grams springs and followers and constant cleaning got me way farther.

A clean mag is a happy mag

  8. It's not hard to do, but to do one right and do some polishing/witness holes takes time. Not a process to rush through. After you've done a bunch (like some for all of Team swiss cake rolls) you'll learn to get faster and a few reliability tricks. I think the amount of real time it takes is why it's hard to find someone to do them anymore.
