  1. Just looking for ideas for prop storage. For poppers, target stands, misc steel etc.

have it in my garage now recently got a storage unit would like to move it there. Would be nice to have it neat, accessible and all together. Targets stands steel etc. Any ideas or what you have done welcome.

    thanks

  2. Not sure if this goes here. Several months ago i woke up and my arm was sore. It came out of nowhere it seems. It has been pretty tolerable for the most part, up until about a week ago. We had our last outdoor match and prior to that i noticed about weds during work and dryfire it was a lot more painful. Fast forward to the match and i could not preform to the level i usually do. I shot about 15% below my current level. Im not sure how to go about fixing it. A lot of other guys said they have dealt with it, most stated it just went away but took a long time. I don’t really want to go into off months and do nothing. At the moment i been doing 3-5 reps and taking long breaks in between. Any suggestions???

Charlie is blessed with huge and I suspect naturally very strong hands that I believe he also works on to be even stronger.  More important, he knows how to use this raw strength to his benefit.

I am not overly gifted in hand strength but I do grip work and try to use what modest hand strength I have as effectively as I can.

Sometimes it’s more about the nuances of hand and finger pressure than pure crush force.  Though I wouldn’t mind being able to easily exert 150 lbs of pressure through a whole stage.

Im just an average sized guy and i can do 125lbs per hand

Sent a couple pretty high ranked shooters home early from majors for acting like ULSC was a timed event.. One for 180,, was a little too quick turning up range doing his cool dude flip and catch and holster,, tried to blow a gasket that he can sweep his legs while holstering,, yep that is true but you cant sweep mine,, while I am up range of you.
The other guy caught top of holster with the barrel and gun rotated forward and pointed barrel directly at my score keeper.... Same thing,, acted like a spoiled brat...
At one time one of the bigger clubs called flip and catch a DQ under 10-5 unsafe gun handling,,, that was back before that rule was completely ignored.

I see a lot of guys do flip and catch i just dump mine on the ground

  5. I use all the guns so that one isnt getting pounded constantly

now practice is different story for just regular training i have one gun for it one for matches

i suppose it depends on the gun too

the 2011 style you can burn up sears dryfiring a lot

  6. Jerry mickulek started at about 30 granted he shot a lot before then but he started his sponsor and becoming known then

he was winning well into his 60s

josh froelich started late look at him world champ

we use to have an 82 year old come shoot

i have a buddy who is 70 who shoots every weekend

if you do the work and spend the time and money you will be surprised

    i started at 35 made M in 8 mo

i shot pcc 4 times and made M

just switched to open made M

    its doable with work

    so is gm

So what if you dont win a national title but if thats a goal work your tail off and go for it

  7. We have a local guy who has brought his kids of all ages and did great with it. The most special was his 8 year old daughter who shot a 22, which some guys griped about it not being legal, however she was 8 it was her first match and she wasn’t going to win.

i was completely fine with it and wish she would have continued.

id say if your son is safe go for it.

have him at home maybe start with a red dot 9mm with some lighter loads and work it up for him.

i have seen some 9 year old boys shoot a 2011 in 40

    so it can be done

wish you all the best of luck

  8. I cant for the life of me remember the name of it but if you scroll through jj racazas facebook he had a super awesome one for just this

    other than that

i use dry practice drill app

u can set loads of your own drills and par times.

its a lot quieter if you want for indoors. My favorite part is you can set how many reps you want.

so i go in label all the par times and make them so i can just jump through all my training drills quickly with the amount of reps i want

  9. Before i got super into competitive shooting me and a buddy would go out to his club and do this

they had a steel at 200

we would see who could hit it in the least amount of shots

it is super satisfying to shoot a pistol and a few seconds later hear that ding

luckily for us it is dusty so you could call where they went most of the time

    easier to walk it in.

I got pretty good at doing it in a few shots then discovered competition and dont really do it as much. Also some jerks kept stealing the targets on that range they had steel at 100-150-200-300 for everyone to use and now its gone because they got tired of replacing stolen items. This also lead to cameras everywhere.

Yeah, to get even near the top you need to accept you're taking on a full time job that will pay you nothing and you're real job needs to be good enough to support your hobby.

Why they're better is completely between the ears.

Well im out its hollow up there 😂

I finally tried this and I found myself to be calling the shots with about 50% accuracy. So I have some work to do. I also thought it was hard to target focus while trying to read my dot. Don’t make sense. I am usually able to call shots that I jerked pretty bad and make up from there.

This is controversial but try taping the dot it forces you not to have a hard focus

    do like this

    set ur timer up

    no trigger prep

at the beep pull as fast as possible try to have everything done before the end of the beep

    everyone slaps the trigger

i know i hear a ton about prep but ive seen every type of shooter slap the trigger its just a thing

the dot drill is very good for trigger control as well

puts a ton of pressure on

with a dot its 10 yards 6 2” circles five shots in under 5 seconds from draw

    its a pass or fail

touching the line on dots counts

     very valuable

i havent done it for a long time but should

when you get to the 5th dot the pressure is crazy

i have never personally passed with irons

The important thing to remember is when they started out they didn't have any of those things. And the guys I know that have made it to the super squad tend to not make excuses as to why they can't.

    Totally agree

original op asked why they are so much better that is my opinion of why

yes you gan get there anyone can

but to stay there you either make that your life or dont stay

    no excuses here

i am putting the time in now

It's the internet I don't think anyone expects perfect but that was hard to read.

Also, I think some of what you think "pro's" do is inaccurate. Certainly as those shooters where coming up they didn't. And most guys on the super squad have day jobs, train on the side, load their own ammo and fund the majority of their own shooting. Vary few are getting all the things you listed.

I agree for the most part but they have a lot of resources a guy like me does not have

    he mentioned max jj etc

you are right a lot do have jobs

some do load on mark 7 they are sponsored by

  14. Me personally i love a heavy gun. That being said. Ammo you use and or load makes a difference. Experiment with different powders and bullet weights. Try different spring weights recoil and main if applicable.

All of these things make a difference.

On 2011 style there are a bunch of factors charlie perez has a great video breaking down each component of the platform that effects performance. i mean down to the firing pin stop

I almost died reading that. Needs punctuation so people can take a breath

I will spend more time trying to do that.

you would think with 6 college English classes that would be an easy thing.

    Not so much

Sorry guys. I will do better
