  1. Mine was due 1st week of Jan so not happy but not happy but Sh^t happens.  They have had problems at the coating shop but I was told yesterday that they should be getting the first batch or two of guns back and should be shipping out first of next week, or maybe even today.  Was told I should get mine the first half of next week and super excited about that so keeping my fingers crossed.

  2. I like the gun but the grip is so frikin skinning it’s difficult to hold well with my support hand.  Once I run the gun doing something like a bill drill it’s tough to stay accurate as I’d like.  I really wish they would make a grip module with a wider grip.    That’s probably the biggest reason I personally prefer the 43x over the XL.   Now with the 15 round option the 43x is pretty sweet.  XL is a nice shooter though, like  it much more the the 365.

I like shooting my JP GMR-15 but shooting Open is another world.  I will be putting down my PCC rifle and going back to Open Division this next season.

Agree with you completely, I actually sold mine to help fund my open gun.

OP. What Open gun did you go with?

I bought the PT Honcho in 9 major.  Should have received it a couple weeks ago but they are running behind a good bit and supposed to get it hopefully by the end of the month.  It’s been difficult waiting especially since it’s passed the time I expected it.  (Kind of like Christmas came and went and no present 😆).  Worse now that I actually shot a match this past weekend and had a glimpse of the fun in open.  I shot a pretty sweet Atlas Chaos with their Cheely grip that was just fantastic.  Really hope the Honcho lives up to what what people who shoot it have been saying, so really excited to get it.  Shoot a major in Feb so hoping to have some practice time prior to that match.

  5. A few months back I posted a question about if I should move to open.  (“Should I stay or should I go”)Pretty unanimous to do so.  Well I get it now.  It’ almost impossible to describe if you haven’t shot an open match.  Shot my first one yesterday and OMG it was so frikin fun.  Really hard to describe but couple things I noticed is that you really don’t hear how loud the gun is at all (I was shooting 9 major).  Shooting the gun is amazing, it’s so fun, hardly any recoil and it allows you to go so much faster.  Coming for CO’s, the open dot hardly moves and I can’t tell you how happy I am to finally have major scoring.

So thanks to all of you who responded to my post.  It’s like a totally different sport now.  Although I am still waiting on my gun to arrive, (was supposed to get here first of the year but is delayed🤬 ), so I ended up borrowing my buddies Atlas Chaos.  (Which was fantastic by the way)

Fully bitten by the open bug now, can’t see going back to anything else.  😄

  6. I ran my very first open match today which happened to be a classifier match.  There were 5 classifiers set up.  I had 3 high C’s and 2 B runs.  My total % is 60.56%. Looks like B in open is 60%.  My question is do I need to have 6 classifier or will they count the those 5 and classify me?

By the way, Open is so much fun, which I would have made the move sooner but better late than never. :)

  7. I didn’t wait for them to call, I called them. I suspect with the holidays they are swamped.  I’m supposed to get mine next week since it’s at the 10 week mark but not holding my breadth on that.

no offense but I hope their getting mine ready to ship and are too busy to call you back. Lol. Just kidding of course.

  8. I received mine last Friday and put around 350 rounds through mine on Sunday.  No issues at all, dropped easily from the gun, locked back every time with the last round.  Not a lot of round through it yet but so far very pleased, certainly reliable to this point.

  9. Here is a list for matches in the DFW area.  M160, Triple C, & JCSSA put on really good USPSA matches but many of the other also have good quality matches as well.  DAPs, DPC, NTXLF are great matches for new shooters but not official USPSA matches, they are fun and a great place to start learning the game.  NTXLF also will have practice sessions that I recommend for new shooters.

  10. Better USPSA matches in N. Texas are M160, JCSSA, & Triple C.  New one started up in Bells, TX that supposed to be pretty good.  If you want to just shoot some fun local matches to get started, DAPs every other Wed. At Elm fork and some at DPS club on Sat.  Every now and then Mr. Porter puts on a good match up in Wichita Falls.

FWIW, the Honcho originally came with complete sets of MBX mags, so you know they work.

Yeah I think that’s what they recommend, was going to get the STI mags but will probably go with them.  Was just curious if that’s what most are running with that gun.

First, forget about 10 weeks.   You'll probably be lucky to get your new gun in 16 weeks (four months).

    So, stay motivated.

And, don't get unmotivated again at the end of three months and you still don't have the new gun.

Stay in the game - keep shooting, a lot, and dry firing.

Any practice is better than nothing, especially for 4-6 months.

Ordered the PT Honcho and they’ve been pretty consistent so far in their 10 week quote.  I think it would be easier for me to stay motivated if I know I had to wait 4-6 months, but knowing that it’s really not to far off has me a bit un-motivated with my current gun.  Your right though, I just need to keep shooting and going though my routine.  Right now the motivation is the hardest part since I’ve sold off my main competition gun.

  13. So I made the decision this past week to move from CO to Open and ordered my new open gun that I’ll receive in 10 long weeks.  Recently sold my main CO gun and am left with my g34 CO.  So my question is what training would you recommend while waiting?  I was pretty diligent about dry firing but given the different platform, holster, etc, not sure it would be all the helpful but I guess it’s better than doing nothing.

Any training tips or suggestions while I wait the 2 1/2 months?  At this point I’ll likely keep dry firing and working a little with my Glock but truth be told not to motivated.

  14. Looking for recommendations on where to buy 9 major Ammo for USPSA matches. Not yet reloading (Still on the fence) so wanted to see where most recommend to purchase  Hopefully at a decent price/quality. 😁  Thx in advance for thoughts/recommendations.

  15. Will because of all you enablers, and my buddies who have no problem spending my money, I have decided to GO.... and not stay in CO’s.

Open here I come!!  Put in an order for a PT Honcho, so 10 long weeks and I’ll be an open shooter.  I’ve also been talked into reloading which I’m not really excited about but makes sense over the long term.  Shooting 9 major, I know, I know, 38 super is the way to go but one thing at a time, lol

So I’ll likely be selling my shadow 2 (which I really like) and will use my g34 mos for emergencies if my honcho goes down.  I figure I can get significantly more by selling my S2 vs the G34 which will go much farther in helping me fund my reloading equipment and other stuff that I know have to buy. :(

Funny because of of the sudden I’m not real excited about shooting a match now in CO given I’m going open soon.  Kind of like playing a “scrimmage” vs a “real game”.  Below is a pic of what I ordered, I have an SRO so this is pretty much the set up.
