But as of June, you may have 10 in your CCP.  Another rooneygun obsoleted by rule changes.

Yep. I had cosaint build me a cco in January got it in February. Now with the rule change it went of the best gun for ccp to obsolete.

I've shoot ccp for most of my time in idpa the new rulebook has me considering give up idpa all together.

  2. I've seen a few staccato c2 fit the box with modified magazine's and a thined safety.

The magazine's had the base pads removed and a flush fit plug fitted to the bottom of the magazine and drilled and tap with small screws holding it in.

This seems crazy to me, I thought the bumps were borderline to easy before. I think the idea was probably that CO was so popular it was becoming almost impossible to get bumps in other divisions. It's basically always been impossible in Rev.

But using my local state match as a example, there will be 3-5 more shooters bumped to MA at that match vs the old rules. I would expect to see a lot of people making MA this year.

Making master will mean a lot less now.

In a year there will be Ex and MA that have no hope of competing at that level.

There's a provision in the rulebook (2.13) that states: "Ranges that host IDPA matches may have additional or more restrictive safety requirements. These safety restrictions will be accommodated by the IDPA MD and staff provided that they do not interfere or conflict with the Purpose and Principles of IDPA or the administration of the match according to the IDPA Safety Rules. Any additional restrictions or requirements must be published in all match announcements and visibly displayed at the match in a location accessible to the shooters."

Basically, yes, a club can disallow certain actions so long as it's properly messaged. My club doesn't allow AIWB at the moment but we're broaching the conversation now.

I haven't seen that part of the rulebook thanks for pointing it out. As the MD and club contact for my club I plan on allowing aiwb I see no reason not to. I strive to not have any "well you can't do that here" club rules. If idpa allows it so do we regardless of what our personal options may be.

It is making me consider shooting SSP. Going forward it's a toss up between SSP and CO right now.

I also want to run aiwb but my club has already said that's not happening here. Next closest club is about 2 hours, not sure their plans yet.

Can a club not allow aiwb? It'll be a legal holster position for idpa that would be like the club not allowing co at the match because the MD doesn't like red dots.

I'd would email idpa and a ac about that.

  6. The 10 round ccp has effectively killed the cco style guns for ccp. They can only hold 8 round putting the what was the best ccp gun at a disadvantage.

I for one just had a cco build for ccp this year and now have a brand new gun that costs a ton of money that's not competitive.

It's has me considering not shooting idpa when the new rulebook takes effect.

I use variable springs in all my 1911 and 2011 guns. A variable spring, at full compression, will have the same rate as a regular spring. Whereas a regular spring has the same rate throughout it's travel, a variable spring starts off with less compression rate, and builds up to it's max at full compression. That means a slide will unlock easier, when the rate is say 7lbs, but when it fully compresses, its at 10 lbs. And vice versa. Starts closing at the full rate, but gets less at full expansion.

The idea is supposedly a softer recoil impulse felt. They work better with lower powered loads like we shoot. The gun will work with either spring type. And you may, or may not feel the difference.

    Thanks Bob!!

  8. I'm looking for replacement 10 lb recoil springs for my commander it currently has a 10 lb conventional spring in it from the builder so I know there made but all I can find online for a 10 lb spring is the wolff variable.

All that to ask is there much if any difference between the 10 lb conventional I have I the gun now and the wolff 10 lb variable?

    Thanks!

Kinda slow burning for your application, probably why it is inconsistent. Pressure is too low at that power factor and weight/. Folks that load 115's and 124's at more or less factory duplication levels usually do well with WSF.

Yeah I knew going it to it that wsf was on the slow side for minor but it what I could get at the time. It's not a bad powder by any means just not ideal for my application. I'm going to use it for practice and local matches and use what 244 and clean shot I have to load sanction match ammo.

  10. I was in the same boat a while back. Got 5 lbs of wsf to try out. I've been load 137 gr brass monkeys bullets with it and while results have been acceptable I won't be buying anymore of it.

I'm loading 3.9 gr at 1.10" col to make minor out of a g 19. My biggest complaint is velocity isn't very consistent.

  11. Regardless of devison you don't have to use whatever legal sighting system you have on your firearm. But it sure does help.

In CO you may have a laser, slide ride reddot and back up irons as long as it fits the box and makes weight.

As the SO running the stage I'm not going to try to determine which one you are using nor do I care.

I hate rule-checking people but can you quote a source on that? I could see this being a point of contention at a big match.

The relevant rules I found are:

    IDPA Rulebook

    • 8.1.8 Non-IDPA-Legal Features and Modifications for All Divisions - The following features and modifications are not allowed in any division unless otherwise specifically allowed in the rulebook.
      • F. Lights mounted on firearms.
      • G. Rail mounted lasers and bolt-on trigger guard mounted lasers are not allowed.

    Carry Optics Appendix

    • 1.2. Types of Optics - Optics suitable for this division fall under two categories with different restrictions on how they are mounted to the firearm.
      • B. Active: These are Red or Green LASER sights that project a dot onto the target. Active LASER sights are permitted to be mounted on the frame of the firearm. Typical locations can be the rail or the pistol grip. This rule supersedes Rule 8.1.8.(G) found in the 2017 Rulebook.

I don't see anything that voids 8.1.8.(F) regardless of whether or not the light is used.

I couldn't find anything in the rulebook covering it so I asked idpa. Here's a screenshot of the email I received from my AC

  13. Like the title says is the sp01 target 2 worth the price over a sp 01 shadow.

I shoot a sp01 shadow now and I'm looking to get a backup/ match gun.

With the sp o1 shadow being out of stock everywhere should I get the target 2 now while there available or hold out and hope to find a sp01 shadow?

  14. I've heard it suggest by some to leave shooters  to dry fireing at the range to make my ammo last longer. For example I'll set up a drill and run it dry a few time then run it live before moving on to something else.

Doing it that way I feel like I get a lot out of just 50 rounds or so.

What range are you shooting USPSA at?

I'm in Georgia and shoot a good bit in Florida
