  1. Just cleaned my Colt Competition.45 SS gun that I also greased and it wasn’t as bad as my STI. Once clean I oiled it with Amsoil gun oil as well, I rack it over and over and noticed small chunks of gunk coming from the front and rear of the slide. Like mentioned it seemed the oil was washing out the dirt. Not saying one is better than the other just a observation after cleaning two different 1911’s of mine.

Im using the dirtiest powder Ive known in Open loads but the crud I see accumulate in grease is the same in oil. And I have not had any jams w/ grease due to dirt but I jammed w/ crud coz of failing to re-oil.
Have not seen your experience in my Open guns w/ SGlide. Started using it my shotguns also w/ good results. Maybe because Im in warmer climate than yours.

    I live in South Texas.

Funny I came from oil moved to grease and liked slide glide standard in my open guns. Oil wont stay after a few hundred rounds in my open major guns. SG stays and up to the next time I clean them. Dont see returning to oil soon.

That’s why I went to a grease because of oil’s flinging off, and I liked the grease because it stayed but the stuff in my gun wasn’t even like a lube anymore more like a paste.

  4. I took my STI Staccato C apart tonight to clean it, I have 300 rounds on it since I last cleaned and lightly greased it with Slide Glide Lite after buying it new. I noticed the grease was almost like a paste very thick mixed with powder residue. Took some elbow grease to get the stuff out of the gun, the gun didn’t have any malfunctions but just concerned me how nasty and thick that grease was after 300 rounds. After cleaning it I used Amsoil gun oil instead of grease this time, wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen with gun grease?

  5. I just picked up a Staccato C but noticed mine has a black barrel, I have seen them with a dull silver color also what’s the deal with that? Also my only gripe is the mag release is kind of small, will the Staccato C accept a aftermarket extended mag release? Thanks

  6. I would take a look at the Tanfoglio Limited or CZ Tactical Sport Orange. Tanfoglio Limited trigger isn’t that great out of the box unless you get the Extreme which is more money. A regular Limited Custom with a trigger job would still be cheaper than a CZ TSO if budget is a concern.

  7. I have one and it won’t run factory ammo that well (nose dives). Bought a MBX magazine and it over inserts badly and still nose dives, bought a Dawson Posi Lock mag release and now the MBX mag doesn’t over insert but still nose dives, but now the mag doesn’t drop free most of the time. My factory trigger sucks really heavy, the frame looks like someone made it with a hammer. If you buy one you will most likely need to send it to a gunsmith to get the bugs worked out of it. I have a Tanfoglio Elite Limited .40 it eats anything I put in it, I have been using it because I got tired of messing with the RIA. I need to send my RIA to a gunsmith but haven’t done it yet.

  8. Has anyone dealt with Patriot Defense as far as work goes? I was going to send my Limited Custom to Henning for trigger work but Iam within driving distance of Patriot Defense. Instead of dealing with shipping I was thinking of taking the gun to Patriot instead.

  9. I got my first Tanfoglio a Limited Custom .40 and have a question about mags and ammo. The one mag that came with the gun says K40, how long can I load these mags? Can I use a fast power and 200 grain bullets? Sorry for the simple questions just trying to learn about this Tanfoglio.
