OP, as others have mentioned, I really think you should save a little longer and go all in with a custom Atlas/Akai build of your choice.  I cannot imagine you would regret it.

I classify it as a range toy, but I can imagine someone carrying it with a RMR.  “Operators” are walking around with $2.5k+ Agency or Salient Glock builds as an EDC.  I was originally looking to buy the DVC Tactical for the threaded barrel, but the STI rep convinced me to pick up the DVC 3 Gun (I’m new to shooting sports).  

 

I wouldn’t mind an OMNI in the future but my noob eyes have been opened to the wonders of Atlas/Akai/SVI.  Lots of quality companies can mill the RMR.

As mentioned previously, the Sig ROMEO3 is a great choice as well if you like the RTS2’s footprint.

OP, what is your budget?  If you can manage, I would also suggest that you pick up the Atlas Chaos.  Then, focus on shooting and not worrying about the firearm.

The RMR Type 2 (I prefer the RM06 and RM07 models) is truly a "go to war optic" in my opinion as well.  Highly recommend if you're expecting some hard use.

I'm looking to change my thumb safeties in the future and the Double Tap shielded thumb safety seems to be the most recommended.  When I spoke to STI, they told me that they can coat it to match my DVC 3 GUN for minimal expense.

Congrats, it came out beautiful!  My choice was also SV, especially since they are less than 2 hours outside Dallas.

I spoke to them earlier this week, was told 15 months.  I was glad to find out they are only about 100 miles away from my home in the Dallas area.  While I was considering Atlas or Akai for my open build, this fact makes me feel like it’s worth going with SVI in case of future issues.
