  1. I am probably my worst critic. I video tape every stage not to post all over social media and get famous but to see where I made mistakes. I am by no means the best shooter I have been competing in uspsa for a year now. I have swiched from limited to co and now to open. I tend to fall in the top 30ish . but I have improved greatly over the last year.  my last match I finished 51st out of 80. probably the worst I have done in 6 months. My dot mount would not stay tight and would move around on me while shooting.  All I can do is go home watch the videos, see where I messed up and what I did right. put some loctite on the screws and get back to the range and keep running drills.

With the barrel you have I would use AA#7. You want a slow powder and lots of gas. I use it in 9 major and .38 super. In my opinion a jacketed bullet is better. If you want a round nose, Montana Gold 124 CMJ works well. I use an oal of 1.250 with that bullet. Crimp is .378  Any small rifle primer will work. You should start low and use a chrono to get to major.

so far with aa#7 i have loaded 10 of each  9.6, 9.8 10.0 and 10.2 all to 1.250. I plan to use two different chronos to verify accuracy. Should I load up some lower grain than 9.6?

    Thanks

  3. I really hate to ask this. but here it goes. I am 100% new to loading 38sc and for an open gun. I have a schuemann hybrid 3 port barrel. with a comp that has 3 ports on top and 2 side ports. I havent seen a whole lot of published load data for 38 super comp that gets major pf.  I am wanting to load up 125 grain coated rn bullets. I have no.7, wac, lil gun, power pistol, and shooters world major pistol. can some one give me a few tips on where to start.  I got the gun used and the previous owner used 10.2 grains of 3n38. which doesnt shoot too flat in my opinion. the dot seems to dance around instead of going straight up and down. I am used to loading for 300aac and 9mm minor. I dont want to screw up the gun and very hesitant on where to start. (no vv powders in my area)

    Thanks guys and girls

  4. Right handed shooter with the racker on the right side. From another gun I had with a slide racker if I put it on the left slide it was in the way of hitting my thumb. So I just keep it on the right side to avoid an issue.

  5. Variety is the spice of life. I have several 140s and 170s. Each has their purpose depending on the stage and where the reloads happen. If I can get away with a 170 with 29rds and no reload then go for it. If I have to reload it depends on where is the most practical use of either starting with a 170 or just using 140s.

That page shows the part numbers. Select a caliber and look at the part listings... Example below.

I am looking for the serial numbers for each individual die not the die sets. Like what's the serial number for the 9mm seater die. Is it the same as the 38sc die? I have a full 38sc die set. And waiting on the funds for a dedicated 38sc powder measure. And I'll be able to just swap tool heads and plate.

  7. Does any one know where I can find a list of which die sets (serial numbers) share dies, asking about Dillon specifically. I'm going to start loading for my 2011 38sc. And I was wondering if all 3 dies are different or just one or 2. I plan on getting a full conversion from 9-38sc with individual powder measures. So trying to save time by just swapping a die or 2 out.  Thanks all.

  8. Hello, all I've been shooting uspsa over a year now. Been a collecting and tinkering with guns for 5 years now. Just recently picked up a custom 2011. In 38 super. Still have a lot to learn about the 2011. Making the switch to open as soon as it warms up and I find a holster for it.
