Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have finally made contact with the factory in Germany. Got a charming e-mail from a Ms. Evelyn Longwitz. I am contemplating putting a order together. If I order 500 Euro's worth (whatever the hell that is) shipping is free. I'm doing this to get some 44 mag speedloaders. Anybody else out there interested in going in with me? You'll have whatever I have in it, plus some shipping and gas money (minimal). Curt Nichols http://www.longwitz.de/shop/english_docs/s...nichols@cox.net
  2. I was fiddling with my motley assortment of brass yesterday. I noticed that Starline and Winchester seemed to fit in the moonclips tightest. I am about to take the heady plunge of actually ordering some match brass. This will be a vast difference for me from my usual assortment of range orphans. Any preferences for brass for 45 moonclips? As always, thank you for the help.
  3. Okay, I loved the previous post. Actually, a thoughtful intelligent guy. He probably shoots for the same reason I do. I'm a police officer. I have always looked at shooting as a martial art. We must remember that USPSA is in a constant drag battle with IPSC. We are damn lucky we are not shooting the gay no-head targets. One thing I do Thank our BOD for constantly. If you mentioned the "sport" as being related to "Close Combat", there would be heart attacks coast to coast. But saying a revolver is not "Combat" ready? Brother, I live in Tulsa. We made the top 10 violent cities last year with a record homicide rate. We are on our way again. I have shot people. I have been shot. Both in the military, and in the police department. I have never seen a situation I could not have handled with a revolver. They make me carry a Glock 21C now. Good gun. No better than a S&W Model 19. It is always the man - it is never the gun.
  4. You know, I never post, and here is two in a row. I am the rare IDPA/USPSA crossbreed. I shoot both, I like both. I ran two State matches for IDPA. I've been a Chief SO at their Nationals forever. I also love USPSA. The equipment tickles me, and I love the field courses. With that in mind, and hopefully understanding I love both sports, here goes. Many USPSA members were pissed when IDPA started. IDPA started because of a arrogant, "we know what you'll shoot BOD at USPSA". You would shoot Open, and you would like it. USPSA continued this until IDPA started, and they started losing money. And baby, if you don't understand it is about money - quit reading now. When they started losing money to IDPA, things changed. New Divisions opened up, we would even put articles about some of your amusing little guns in our magazine. Membership and participation picked up. Meanwhile, IDPA got arrogant and stupid. A rule book with no relation to effing reality was put in, and people went back to USPSA. NOW USPSA thinks they are back in the drivers seat, and its time to remind the little people who the hell runs things. Well, there is always ICORE.
  5. I love my wheelies, and I will go where a sport supports them. When IDPA split the revolver pond, I started shooting more USPSA. If USPSA dumps revolver, I will let my USPSA membership go. No hard feelings. You don't have anything for me, I don't have dues money for you.
  6. The new style extractor has very sharp edges on the end of the star. Go for a jammed speedloader, and say hello to blood. The old extractor had a groove and spline on the shaft. There was very little side to side play on the star. That coupled with the little pins led to very tight extractor to cylinder lockup. On the new design, if the edges of the extractor wear, the extractor can be pushed by the hand, but not rotate the cylinder into lockup. They have taken a combat proven design, and cocked it up for cheaper manufacture.
  7. When did Smith go this totally ignorant new extractor? I just bought a new 625, and am not impressed with this design feature.
  8. Round Gun Shooter, Thanks for the kind offer. I need them for a N Frame 44 though. I thought it would be amusing to shoot SSR in IDPA with a 44 mag.
  9. Does anyone know where to find some of these. I have sent a email to the companies website in Germany, and it has disappeared in a Teutonic black hole. Probably still tsking about my diction.
  10. First, Merry Christmas to all. My sweet wife bought be one of Dave's speedloaders for XMAS. I'm a Class II gunsmith, and a inveterate tinkerer. I can make a rather stinky tube gun, or work on a 25K Thompson. I was vastly impressed with Dave's workmanship. Anybody with a 617 needs this. Dave was very nice with my wife over the phone. Made sure it was here before XMAS. I highly recommend.
