  1. Another +1 for the DPMS LR 308. Had it out just yesterday to try a couple of loads. Seems to like the 168's w/Varget (3/4" @ 100)

Mine has been 100% reliable as well

  2. The Stat house lost power early in the evening and could not process any more scores when we left the range yesturday :angry2: . They should have results this morning.

Everyone here in Flyover Country thought all of California was WiFi all the way. Where's the Vid's? Commentary?

    Any Buzz?

    Is everyone shooting as expected?

    Who is there?

How's the MW contingent doing? Bubber, Carmoney, WalterMitty, Dean, Mike?

How's the honorary Midwesterners doing? Bagakis, Danbagger?

Is JM burning down the house as expected?

JM won open and open shootoff

    Nills Johansen (sp?) 2nd

    Vic Pickett 3rd

  3. I have read articles on a gentleman by the name of Marty "Babe" Magnan. He was the first to break 2600 with a revolver and also fired several 2650's using revolvers only.

A search of the web should turn up some info on his guns and loads. IIRC he had to use a modified H&G mold and straight linotype to get acceptable 50 yd accy. out of the S&W 25.

    Hope this helps

  4. I just bought a couple M&Ps (one in 9mm and .40) and just from handlling them I am very impressed. Seems Smith and Wesson has hit it with this pistol. I am looking forward to getting my M&Ps to the range some time this week.

I do have a couple of questions though, and thought maybe some of you would have the answers or know which direction to steer me to get them. Here are my questions.

    1. How is the zero with the Novak sights that come on the pistol? Do the pistols shoot to the sights or is a little adjustment necessary? I will probably start out shooting 115gr WWB in the 9mm and various factory loadings of 165 and 180gr loads in the .40.

    2. While I am on the subject of sights, I have read Warren Tactical is working on a set of sights for the M&Ps. Anyone have an idea when those are due to be released? Is anyone working on a set of adjustable sights for them? (Dawson maybe?)

    3. The 9mm I purchased has the magazine safety while the .40 does not. I noticed through dry firing them a bit that the 9mm trigger with the magazine safety seems to be "grittier" than the .40 without the magazine safety. In your experience is the "grittier" feel of the trigger in the pistol with the magazine safety due to the safety, and can it be remedied by taking out the magazine safety using the method described by Dan Burwell. If I sent my pistols to Burwell could he eliminate the "grittiness" all together.

I know...a lot of questions. But I figured this would be a good place to ask them since it seems the people on this forum have more experience with these pistols than anyone I have run into locally.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

The magazine safety does NOT effect the trigger pull in any way. The trigger system is quite easy to work over yourself if you like doing those type things.

I have one of Dan's fixed sights on mine and like it.

While I have never felt one of Dan's trigger jobs. I have heard nothing but positive things about them.

  5. Is Jerry using the angle-iron moonclip holders that DGSMITH used at Summer Blast?

He's carrying 10 m-clips on the belt :o and the setup looks very compact!

    I want one!

i know this one. they are turned down aluminum with an O ring that the moon clip is secured to. jerry said he has them specailly made for him.

    lynn

If anyone wants a set of those moon clip holders, shoot me an e-mail and I'll put you in touch with the guy who makes them.

  6. BTW revchuck, have you started your homework yet?

Not yet. Between work and classes and getting two S&Ws back from 'smiths (M10 from the Performance Center and M28 from Clark's) and having to make sure they work :), I haven't had time. I have a long weekend coming up due to Mardi Gras, and in the time I'm not putting on a new roof due to Rita, I'll probably get the dremel out and do it. (Rain is predicted for Saturday.) I've already laid out the place I'm going to hog out, I just need to make sure I have enough sanding drums.

May I suggest that you protect the area around the work area of your grip with a couple layers of Duct tape. Just in case the dremel gets a mind of it's own and starts to wander around a bit.

  7. Hopalong,

Yea, I still shoot a little. We finally have a local range that is holding steel, ipsc and icore. I shoot there when I can. I have been bitten by the Bullseye bug and and trying to learn that game. And now that I am back in LE I will try to do some PPC as well.

So many pistol games....so little time! (or money).

  8. Heh-heh! Same question came up after I posted a picture of Jerry standing around talking to Rudi and Pat at the Nationals. His moonclip holders are conventional "shoot the moons" but with the long metal center posts, he just sticks an extra moonclip (maybe two) upside-down on the post and then uses that one in the gun to start the stage.

Take a closer look Mike, looks like three to a carrier to allow reloads from same location rather than reaching too far.

    They are homemade wooden ones.
