  1. Well error was 1D10T error.... Didn't read the directions on the scs correctly. The color coding says color - uncolored.... I read black is standard so I saw black was 2 went to one and red uncolored.... Instead of the 80lb I put the 100lb in. Rifles great now!

How much travel do you have past the Bolt Hold Open when you pull the charging handle?  Not enough travel and there isn't enough dwell time for the bolt hold open to move up in time to catch the bolt, so it catches the bolt carrier.  Same thing happens when the magazine doesn't have time to lift the next round.  The light bolt moves faster....in both directions.

i recently had what sounds like the same symptoms with a 16" rifle gas 308 build, obviously short dwell time and i couldn't get it to run even at wide open on the gas block.  i did a bunch of reading on various gas port sizes and determined the port was slightly undersized, measured 0.081" so i drilled it out to 0.089" and that put it right in the middle of the gas block range and runs great now.  gas port and alignment is where i'd start based on what you said if the rearward travel looks ok.

I was thinking that as well. Gas port alignment is good (after they replaced the gas block lol). May need to open the gas port a bit then...

  3. Recently built a a 3 gun rifle and am having some issues with short stroking. Rifle will not feed second round and will hold the bolt open on the last round BUT it's catching on the bolt carrier NOT the bolt. On my Zulu stock I have the secondary buffer screwed all the way down like they said to run in my setup. Bolt has the travel to hold open if I pull the CH on an empty mag. I was assuming lighter bolt and spring would work with less gas but I haven't played with a rifle and this level of adjustability, so before I send the barrel back to Odin to figure out why it's not getting enough gas I figured I'd ask here.

Tomorrow I plan on testing the upper on a different rifle as well as the lower. Then testing a mix of stander h2 buffer and bolt in the rifle.

    Build is:

    Odin 18inch 3 gun barrel

Odin adj gas block (tested from closed to all the way open in half turn increments)

    Jp lmos

Jp scs (with lightest spring installed.

    Larue mbt2s trigger

    Aero lower

    Odin Zulu 2 stock

    Odin r2 foreend

    Any help is appreciated.

Does anyone know if a drop in trigger kit from other SA 9mm 1911s will fit in this?

Not sure about other sa 9mms but I was able to drop in an svi trigger, egw internals (minus the mainspring, light primer strikes on occasion) and a wolf firing pin spring. Runs reliably.

If you change extractors the screw for the optic protrudes. You may have to file down the top of the extractor to fit.

Edit: the factory internals after 5 minutes with an Ed brown sear jig feel exactly the same as the egw internals. Smooth trigger pull and 3.5lb break

I heard a close but different version. CZ with hammer down shooter missed holster and dropped on the hammer on concrete gun went off and ......

This is exactly why i race the clock to get the firearm out of the holster, but take my sweet time to ensure its in, and secure before letting it go.

Prayers for the family on the deceased as well as the competitor, as im sure it weighs heavily on his mind.

I have been shooting Blue Bullets for 3 years now with 0 major leading issues in my open guns or either of my PCC guns.  My MPX has a Sig226 X5 comp on it, and it cleans easily with only a brass brush, after soaking it for about 45 min in a 50/50 solution of apple cider vinegar and peroxide.  The open guns, usually only have a little carbon build up, but for the small amounts of lead, I do the same.  50/50 apple cider vinegar, and peroxide.  Soak it while u clean up the gun, and use a small pick to knock the build up out.... good to go.   I also spray the comps before each match with a little Dillon case lube to help the build up from happening.  Seems to work pretty good.

Isnt this a recipe for "the dip" which is extremely hazardous if not handled properly?

    Just looked through this thread.

How the heck did he get a 1.160” round to chamber????

He must have a reemed barrel????

And I tried to to load a magazine full of 1.150” and they were borderline rubbing the front of the magazine. I didn’t try, but I don’t think I could get a mag full of 1.160”.

I guess it’s pointless to try since I’m capped at 1.135” by the barrel.

reemed? who needs a reamer, i got a dremel what OAL you want the barrel to accept?

Kidding of course, im not sure i never tried to reach that far out. I don know that different profile bullets stack differently in the mag. my 200gr RN would rub at the same length my 180 RNFP would be fine. That said i load to 1.130 and it works fine for me. No issues removing a chambered round. Maybe ill check when i get home for poops and grins.

  8. Good news and bad new, good news, I am finally classified as a C, one good run and a blown run will get dropped and should put me in B class.

Bad news, wrecked my vehicle so ill be on 2 wheels for a bit until insurance has a chance to look it over. Hoping it gets repaird but an airbag deployed so possible total.

Sitting in FL while i type this, been here since wednesday (wrecked the truck tuesday after finally getting everything confirmed for FL and told to go pack and book travel). No firearm so alot of airgun in the hotel. Have been working on basically pure speed according to anderson. Since i have no pistol i can still work on making my hands move quicker to my hip then up and speed on my hand getting to a mag.

Also movement. Mainly finger gun on target while walking and keeping the "bounce" to an acceptable level. Any training is better then no training.

That said matches will be a bit more limited due to only having a motorcycle and not one that has much space LOL, i can fit my wallet sized tool kit and registration and thats about it so backpacks only.

Cant wait to be back home and do some more dry fire and hopefully kick that one 0.XX% classifier to the curb.

  9. Got a large roll of brown wrapping paper. I have my old shot up cardboard stapled to my frame and just staple a covering of the paper and if I feel like it outline a ipsc target on it.

Since I've been training more I've been using throwaway targets from matches and taping alot lol

I would personally run the muzzle support as well. The rounded trigger guard allows some play in terms of y axis angle. No risk of it falling, but disliked the grip angle being different on draw. Muzzle support makes it super solid.

I always run a muzzle support, where i shoot we do alot of seated stages and last thing i need is to sit and touch the muzzle knocking it out of the holster for a stupid DQ.

I used the normal metal frame 1911 insert with my race master. The front trigger guard is pretty spot on traditional 1911.

Sweet, Your word is gold on fit for that pistol LOL. I spoke with someone at DAA and they told me the same so i have it on order, good to know it will fit.

  12. I changed my TSO mag release to the left side and now its extremely difficult to insert mags. I can see that the mag release is not flush on the backside by a hair and if i lightly press the mag release so that it is flush the mag changes are flawless.

Anyone know if there is a fix to this? If not Ill just move it back to right hand as it was and mod the spring as it was having issues with releasing mags when pressed hard.

  13. did alot of dry fire this week since I picked up a CZ TSO to get used to tracking out of the holster and reloads. Noticed that im not looking into the magwell when doing reloads, this works well when im shooting for grins but at speed i was hitting the bottom of the magwell going in. Did some burkett drills looking into the magwell and have reduced the number of failed mag changes.

saturday i went out and worked on shooting on the move as well as leaving a shooting position aggressively and being ready to shoot upon arrival.

Set 2 3x3 shooting boxes with 3 targets and steel. Shooting areas were 10 feet apart and I did variations but all were 2 on each then steel move to the next area and repeat. Did 10 with no reload and 10 with a reload between the boxes, and 10 while shooting the full array moving between the boxes. Then did the array backwards, forwards left and right while moving slowly.

shot an all classifier yesterday. It was 50-50, shot half the stages where I expected to be (high C low B ) the other half I blew.

1st stage had 3 strings, string one went well 5 alphas 3 charlies. string 2, forgot the lock on my holster and lost composure and raced the clock, 4 mikes and 4 charlies, continues to stew and threw another mike, 2 alphas and a charlie....

2nd stage there was a long walk to the bay so i had time to relax and shot half decent, with a high c score. This was six in six and i think if I would have focused on hits instead of trying to be cool and get 12 shots in 6 seconds with a reload at my level. Lesson learned.

3rd stage low B, happy with the score at my current level

4th stage 3-v, have no clue what happened. I came out of the holster and first shots were on targets but all high and second shots were all mikes. I think I just rushed it and broke the trigger as soon as i caught the front site, not when the front site was in the channel... another .XX% crap stage.

5th stage was a repeat of stage one with full size instead of classic targets. I was also the first shooter..... kept thinking about stage one and managed to screw this stage up as well with 8 procedurals since it was draw fire 1 round on each target reload and 1 on each... i put 2 on each the first string.... FML

    6th stage shot a high B.

Stage 1 and 5 were mental 100% stage 4 i think i just shot too fast for the position i was in (hard lean around a door) and threw the shots.

    Biggest take aways,

If you mess up, ignore it and move forward. After words dissect what happened and why, then find out how to avoid it and prevent it in the future.

When shooting in off awkward/off balance positions slow down and dont shoot above your skill level.

Points beat getting all your shots off in a par time with NPM when the par time is quick.

This week i plan on continuing to work on dry fire training. If i'm not working through the weekend or out of town for work I will be doing positional shooting around barricades as well as work at 25 yards a bit. Will also continue to work on getting out of and into position as that is where im losing the most time.

  14. Shot this yesterday, tried to get all 12 at 25 and didn't do so hot. Also didn't slow down and take my time on the single hand shooting either, had time to reload and make ready for the next string before the timer went off. Learned I need to train par times since im so used to clear the stage quickly.

  15. Well now I know the section to quote, I was at a local match and the RO gave a stern warning to a PCC shooter who uncased his firearm at the make ready. He put the case on the ground adjacent to the start area, muzzle down range. unzipped and grabbed the firearm. The RO said he could DQ him because he unzipped all the way down and exposed the muzzle (down range) and the legal way to uncase was to unzip halfway leaving the muzzle half zipped so it doesnt "flag" anyone.

I immediately asked him how that works because he was given the make ready command, if there is someone down range to flag the RO should be called into question.

I was told rules are rules and follow them or get DQ'd.

Also i now have the APP which has the rules.

Bullet choice is fine.  Powder is a mistake.  It is the max load listed by Hodgdon in their non +P load data, so it is safe.  However, 231 is an ancient powder and there are better choices in that burn range if you want to stay minor, and lots of slower powder if you want to make major.

Comps and poppels rob the bullet of velocity, because they redirect gas away from the bullet.  So you have to use a lot of a slow burning powder to make major.  If you are happy competing in Open minor, use published data for CFE Pistol, AutoComp or Silhouette.  All are slower than 231 and flash less.  All make more gas, so the gun will shoot flatter and softer than with your load.

Do comps? I know poppels will because you add holes in the barrel where the pressure is still building. The comp the bullet has left the barrel so I would think (havent tested it at all) that the comp would not effect velocity.
