  1. Some guns will run with both. Difference is in the extractor. Super should rim should ride on the extractor, Super comp/TJ extractor tip rides on the grove. The TJ brass has a slightly different groove dim and thicker web at the base then SC.

  2. Is it officially written in stone, yet? When you go to the "Find Matches" page on USPSA's website, they only have dates and locations for Single Stack and Revolver. The same for the actual USPSA Nationals website; still no mention of the other 4 divisions. From what I've been hearing, it's Lim-L10-Open in St. George and Prod in Tulsa. Has anything changed, or should we start making plans for these locations.

Should be, location for production nationals was announced at the 2012 production nationals awards banquet, same for Open nationals in St. George, not sure on limited or limited 10.

  3. What do sights do?

    Lets hear your thoughts...

I seem to remember RO'ing you at a local match a few years ago, when you were not shooting a glock, with a gun that did not have any front sight. Did not seem to really matter as you still out shoot almost everybody there.

  4. We keep a few toys in the basement and now my kids think it is a treat to go downstairs and play while I reload or dryfire. My son has gotten interested in what is going on over on the other side of the basement and has started to watch me when I dryfire. Tonight my wife yelled for me to come into the kitchen and see him. He was standing facing the cabinets, hands clutched around the hook part of a coat hanger, arms extended saying beep, beep, beep, beep. He would drop it down to his waist and bring it back up and start saying beep, beep, beep again. She wasn't sure what he was doing at first then it dawned on her.

I start him on a coat hanger dryfire program now. Turn him into the next KC. Get a training facility similar to what the Russians had in Rocky IV. That would be sweet. :D

In reality I just hope not to screw it up and this is something we will do together someday.

aaahhhhh, in 8 years the next youngest GM.

  5. I actually emailed DNROI about that exact model a couple of year ago. His response was to exactly quote the rulebook that @remoandiris posted. When I asked for clarification, basically EAA, IFG, or Tanfoglio will have to submit that version of the gun for approval.

When I pressed him a little further if an international Production shooter comes to the US to compete at a major with such a gun in Production division would they be bumped to Open. He referred me back to the rule again in his usual sphinx-like manner.

It would most likely be over the weight limit.

  6. So I went out the other day and shot at the range - I ran 30 rounds through my Chrono - not super fast but at a stead pace - looking back at the results - it seems that the latter shots were slower than the first ones - any reason? Would the barrel heating up cause this?

Yes, barrel heating up could cause lower velocity due to expansion\dilation of the bore.

  7. Pretty sure I know where you may have been... had the pleasure of being in a shooting bay next to people doing the same thing... Talk about a concussion in an indoor range.

I love the people that unload at full speed at 3~5 yards and miss the paper...

Lol are you guys in So CA?

If so there's only one place this could have happened :)

We are in the southwest.... of Ohio.

Ahhh TW. I get a chuckle every time I go there just to look around, It's kind of on the way home from a USPSA match. Some of the things I have overheard salesperson say just make me cringe. All I do to can to keep my mouth shut and walk away.

  8. Going to the nationals in October. I am leaving Wednesday morning and my wife will be coming in on Thursday night due to work obligation. Is there any issues if she brings 11 lbs of ammo in her check in bag? Does she have to declare anything?

No problem. 11 lbs per person per bag. So two people traveling with two bags and 11 lbs in each bag, good to go. Technically, no she does not have to declare but it is better if you do so TSA is not surprised. I usually only declare the gun and only say I have 11 lbs of ammo if they ask. Never get the same treatment, some agents kind of freak out and want you to prove the gun is unloaded and weight the ammo. Others don't even break stride, accept you word and place the special tag in you baggage and off you go. Same with the bag screening TSA agent, some want to open the bag and inspect everything, other simply look up and see you waiting the just nod and off the bag goes. Some the worst are the small town air ports.

You can always ship your ammo to the match. American Shooters Supply in Vegas has been a match sponsor in the past and has offered to receive ammo for competitors several weeks before the match. Watch for additional info on the Nationals website.

  9. One of the few Glocks that rock. The shooter has a lot to do with it.

Few? Really? The open Glocks I see at my club seem to run fine.

People who shoot and win with a platform usually put in an amazing amount of trigger time on that platform. This man, put his name, to a certain degree, behind that platform for that match. Do you think if he can get an open Glock to run, that only he can duplicate that recipe?

It is a machine. I run machines, even make machines for manufacturing processes. If I can make a machine do something, so can you. I have even seen amazing things happen with a mill and an imagination.

Well KC did not "put time behind this gun" it was brand new. He had not shot it in a match before, if at all, and had at least two failure to eject completely jams.

  10. Can anyone share their WST loads for 9mm using 124's and 147? Is this powder more suitable for .40 and .45?

Not normally used for 9mm so might be hard to find load data. Not sure why other then case volume/fast powder combination results in higher pressure, but than again you see loads for N320 and it is faster than WST. You will have better luck finding load data for WSF.

  11. As soon as a bullet leaves the support of the barrel it has a downward gravitational force on it, regardless of trajectory. Depending on the slant of the barrel the gravitational force will vary. With the highest force being when the barrel is flat the least when the barrel is angled up, but none the less it has a pull down.

Gravity is always constant. The trajectory path will vary depending on the angle of the axis of the bore.

Gravity does stay constant. I agree. But the effect of gravity will vary depending on the angle of axis of bore. You are correct the gravitational "force" will not vary, but will not the rate of the bullet drop vary?

Gravity is Gravity is Gravity. All objects will always fall at the contast rate perpendicular to the surface of earth. Now fall is relative to the bore axis so the bullet will never go above the muzzle height if you were to draw an imagine line that extended out the muzzle for infinity. The trajectory changes, but the vertical force is always the same force of gravity. The horizontal forces changes due to velocity slowing down because of drag.

NO. Earths gravity is not constant.

It varies slightly depending were and and when you are and it changes slightly constantly. Look up Gravity Recovery And Climate Experiment (GRACE), a joint mission of NASA and the German Aerospace Center. NASA has been measure earth surface gravity for a number of years. Some interesting graphics.

  12. Thank you for your help, it actually built more of an awareness to looks at things I had not thought off.

Received and fitted the bushing, a slow job, but I got it to where I could use a metal polish for lapping, and then some Rouge. So har no hanging up, not even pointed down. It looks like I have about a thousand or 1.5K of difference between barrel OD and bushing ID. (I had gotten the briley to over 3 thousands and was still catching pointed down). I think I will let it break in on its own from here.

Oiled reassembled, went out to the desert close by and put 50 rounds through it, no issues.....and......I see good groups again....I will have to confirm that sunday. Have a match tomorrow, so going to go play.

Sounds like the briley bushing was worn out if the plating if pealing off. Once that starts you will continue to have problems until you replace it. Just call or order directly from briley.

  13. Has anyone purchased SVI magazine tubes lately to use with an STI gun ?

I am having difficulties with the lack of compatability with these tubes and the STI even following previously mentioned modifications. I think that the new tubes have different specs. I purchased the DP basepads and Grams springs/followers. If anybody has had a similar experience I would appreciate it very much if they would tell me how I can fix the problem.

In the last few years SVI has made a few minor changes to their gun design and some of the parts are no longer compatible with the STI design. The mag release slot is one of those change.

  14. I am paying particular attention to OAL, checking powder drops, and such. We want to eventually make minor loads, but during the learning phase, I'm going to stick to published guidelines. Next batch, my plan is simply to pick a combination that has a lower velocity, and see how that works. My dad is scared to death we may have a squib, so he is very reluctant to drop below a minimum recommended charge.

Again, good stuff! Thanks for helping the beginner!

Reread the setup instruction for your seating die and follow the instructions. The bullet seating die also provides the crimp if setup correctly. Back out the knob which sets the bullet depth and set the die depth so it just removes the bell from the powder die. Be sure to tighten the locking ring. Then use the adjustable knob on the top of the die to set the bullet depth. You can check for potential setup back, or loose bullet in case, by taking a round and place the nose of the bullet against you reloading bench and push by hand. Bullet should not move if correct. With lead you can also have opposite problem with to much crimp and will result in poor accuracy. Check this by pulling a bullet from you loaded ammo and look where the case indented the lead bullet. You should only see a slight impression not a deep grove.

Good luck with the load master. Used, fumbled, cussed, and broke parts for a few years before finally getting a Dillon. Difference was like night and day.

Since you are starting at 5.5 of WST your load will probably be right at/below major PF and as always when developing load check with a chrono.

I found the pictures on page 2 and 5. Page 2 has a good side view where you can see what looks like a SJC open glock.

  17. I called today because it wouldn't let me reserve the room for the 8 days I needed. She said it originally looked like they were full on the 13th but it was a glitch. She said they have rooms available. I'll be there. The only hitch during the Multigun were the restaraunts didn't open till 7 which made it a bit of a push to get to the range in time. I'm hoping they worked something out with the hotel. Otherwise I'll be eating a lot of Burger King breakfasts.

The Suncoast has an all night restaurant that serves breakfast, almost identical layout to the Orleans since owned by same company, 10 min from range with lots of area restaurants near by with out the high cost of the Strip.
