Appreciate the advise.. think I'm gonna sell it. I'll post in classifieds here soon. I have everything to continue 3Gun and Limited USPSA, so I still be able to shoot. Just not Open

Seriously considering selling my Open pistol to fund a motorcycle.
Im torn... I get attached to things and I love my STI DVC, but I will be listing it in the classifieds to see if there is interest. I don't get the opportunity to shoot it enough for me to justify keeping it when my wife doesn't want to me to take cash out of an acct when I could sell a gun that just sits there.
I feel like I have the bobber itch and I need to scratch it.
Has as anyone had real sellers remorse in a similar situation?

That sounds like " the general consensus".
BUT< have you tried the 55's at 400 yards? Might be accurate/wind bucking enough for your matches???
I haven't really given it a fair go at those distances, kinda followed the crowd on the heavier weights. Might be worth a shot for my wallet.

sure doesnt look very effective.
Yea. I guess I assumed the weight of the comp is doing more than it expelling gas for muzzle flip

Optics are important and one should never skimp on optics.
However, Custom rifles built by competent smiths are much nicer than factory rifles. There is a difference.
Now...sometimes the problem is finding a competent Smith.True... have all the nicest parts and an incompetent Smith will test your sanity.

Length of the barrel gets you a different gas system, but won't (shouldn't) effect accuracy. The 16 will be shorter around walls and ports and a little lighter. The 18 with rifle gas may have a bit better recoil feel.
I think the consensus is that a muzzle break and adjustable gas have more impact on recoil than the gas system length
+1 went with an 18" and not seen a real reason I wish I had a 16". Either will be good to go. I was in the same boat as you and chose the 18 due to ranges i shoot being mostly over 3-400y

I have a SD3G trigger and don't know if it's the trigger or my shooting technique but it has bumpfire issues. I'll probably get rid of it soon for an AR Gold

Being brave isn't the absence of fear, it's your actions in spite of your fear.

Said in a barber shop I was in, at 14, I'm now 47, and I still remember laughing out loud!
"You can shoot a guy in the arm with an M16 and it will kill him because the gun was designed to shoot a tumbling bullet. It turns end over end as it flies, that's why the army uses them. They're deadly."

Practicing at a local club with my AR for an upcoming match at the 300 yard range.
I meet some very nice gentleman shooting a nicer than average bolt gun. They have spent thousands more on their bolts but are happy with the same results I get from my simple AR.
Will I do better building a 308 .
I'd drop the money on the optic and build around a Tikka Action. The rifle will shoot just as good as custom guns at a much cheaper price.

Endless Funds: RRS Soar
Budget: Fiesol with a RRS leveling base.

PRS shooter, for the facts mentioned above... but Horner would be an awesome choice as well.

Any updates on the Tac A1? Been thinking on it for a hunting setup.

I've been tempted to go the MPA route, but have been traditionally a Stock guy. I have a McMillian now and debating on a Manners now or switching to a chassis. What benefits have you seen with the chassis?

ive shot both, i personally enjoy flat triggers on pistols and tradition triggers on rifles. i just couldnt get used to a flat trigger on my AR....but thats me LOL...all up to you. get a hiperfire 24c
+1 I have the SD3 gun and have had some bump fire issues. I'd go a different route.

RPR's seem to be hit or miss IMO.
Id go with a Tikka TAC A1. Tikka's are accurate out of the box and make good actions to build on.

I mostly focus on the tgt with a red dot. Iron sights are different, but I've had good luck with Tgt focus.
