  1. So, I'm building an AR for 3gun competition, and I'm having a hard time deciding on what receivers I want to use. I'm hoping some people who have way more experience than I can give me some advice. My plan is to do this once and not have to do it again, so I'm going to build a top-shelf rifle right out of the gate. I've already purchased a JP 18" SS 1:8 barrel, AR Gold Trigger, and a JP LMOS carrier. However, I'm torn on receivers. The ones I'm looking at are: 1) Wilson Combat BILLet receiver set - Gorgeous, no fwd assist, but makes my wallet cry. 2) Vltor MUR-1S - Upper only, no fwd assist 3) VSeven 7075 Upper - More expensive than the Vltor, no fwd assist 4) Wilson Combat Forged receiver set - More affordable than the billet version, has fwd assist. Also comes in the gorgeous burnt bronze. So I guess my questsions are: 1) Where does the ROI on receivers break at? I mean, is there any appreciable difference in performance between any of the receivers above? There has to be a point of diminishing returns somewhere, and it may even be below the price points above. 2) Is there any real use case for a fwd assist in a competition rifle? It seems to me that if you're having to use it in a match, you have bigger problems? 3) If I buy one of the upper only setups, what would your advice be for a quality lower? Thanks in advance!
