  1. I tried to buy the extreme  safety from eaa as was told it wasn't available. I ended up buying  the black set  and having  it hard chromed. Matched perfectly  to the factory  HC on my Elite.

Also having  dealt  with eaa and having  a similar  experience. I believe they count on a Lot of people  not sending  there guns in. Kinda of a deterrent  that saves  them money. At least they didn't tell you "so you installed  an aftermarket  part ( Dawson sight) and broke  your gun and now want me (eaa) to fix it"

And refused to look at the slide unless  I sent the whole gun !

  2. Jayson sent me this picture when I inquired about red thin bogies. Not really the shade I was looking for, but he can do thin bogies in this color.

  3. On my stock III it can be inserted 2 or 3 times before it does it , but every time with the limited. When the slide release goes on the side of the follower instead of the top and then more force is used to seat the magazine. It then pushes the magazine up against the trigger bar on the opposite side and slightly pushes outward on the slide release. These are both 10mm's and maybe the follower design is slightly less forgiving on these possibly.

I think since the mag catch is on the opposite side it is moving the magazine just enough to not catch on top of the follower. If the mag release is held in and then released after seating the magazine it's ok.

  4. I have a Stock III and a limited. Being a south paw I usually just leave the mag release alone since not all platforms have a reversible mag release as an option. Recently I decided to reverse both of mine only because I did on my SP01's and figured I would make these match.

Has anyone reversed there's and then had an issue when inserting empty magazines? Both of mine now have issues and that's the only thing they have in common that has been changed.

When inserting a empty mag now, unless I put pressure on the slide release (keeping it pushed in) or pushing in the mag release while inserting, it will slightly push the slide release out causing the follower on the mag to slip to the side of the catch on the slide release as opposed to it staying on top of the follower. This also causes the trigger to bind. It's fine with a loaded mag and if I just put  a finger on the slide release while inserting an empty.

Is this a side effect of reversing the mag release or is something else going on?

I switched these a couple weeks ago , but just noticed it today after cleaning and trying to insert an empty mag. After I switched these I think I just inserted a full mag and never thought to try with an empty.

  5. I got mine finished. I did it a little different. I had a flattened out 7 1/2 shot in and got paranoid about how soft it was. Instead I cut the tip off a small brass punch, flattened it out some and shaped it with a small file. Then I gently tapped into into the hole with another brass punch. The brass was soft enough to make a nice fit and hard enough to be able to tighten the set screw as tight as I wanted without pushing through or even bending the brass at all.

I lightly sanded the  bottom of a new sight and used 690 green loctite  on the dovetail, sight & set screw. I contemplated using blue loctite on the set screw instead of green, but just used the green for everything.

I will shoot it this weekend and hope this will be a permanent fix.

  6. It was protruding a little, but not all the way through. The other thing I noticed was it tapers down like a drill bit so that must be why there aren't issues with the larger factory set screw and why the shot works because the hole is larger at the top and it won't go through the smaller  hole on the bottom.

I also have the Dawson sight on a Stock III with no issues. No cone barrel on those and it looks like the slide is much thicker in the same spot.

  7. I know this is a old thread, but I joined today after I found this thread.

I have the same issue on a limited.  It wasn't all the way through, but with minimal torque it went through.

Has anyone called EAA about this? When I did I was told that they had never heard of this before.

I will probably use lead shot as others have done unless anyone has come up with something better. Any updates on guns fixed this way? Wasn't very happy about this ,( or the way eaa treated me about it) but at least I now know the hole being there isn't a concern since some came with it from the factory already there.
