  1. It has been rock solid through two USPSA seasons and hours of dry fire reload practice.  It is a very tight and fits perfectly.  I did have the same concern as you though and did put a very small spot of JBWeld at the very back of  it.  Don't really know if it is necessary but I have had zero problems with it and love size and how it helps with very quick reloads.  I have no horse in this just actual experience.

I have a couple of Taccom Extreme Bolts for my PCCs...  They work well...  I really like them...  I clean the bolts before I shoot a match...  After time carbon and dirt builds up under the extractor and stops it from working correctly...  If I leave it long enough it will build up and cause jams...  I remove the extractor to clean under it and that solves the problem...  Now I try to clean under the extractor after a couple of thousand rounds before it starts jamming.

I buy the roll pins in bulk from Amazon...  also have a roll pin punch and a roll pin starter punch...  They help, but it is difficult to hold the bolt on the correct angle...  hold the roll pin in the roll pin starter punch...  and tap it in with a hammer all at the same time...  So now my question:

Does anyone make a jig that will hold the Taccom Extreme bolt (or similar) at the correct angle for installing and removing extractor roll pins?

just get a set of soft jaws for bench vise.  No need for a jig.  Mine work great and have magnets to hold them in place in the vice.

It’s like gripping a pistol though; you see the gun move too much (or in this case the dot bounces up and to the side) and you remember to bear down on the gun before shooting the next target.

For myself, I learned to drive the gun this way in matches first. Fixing it on the fly and making it a conscious act for the rest of the stage.

Eventually I did it consciously at the beep, and finally it just became fulltime normal.

Good to know.  I am still trying to master that.  Trying to go to fast hinders that learning process at least for me.

    You won’t regret it.

Drive the gun hard into your shoulder and control it, don’t let it control you. If your offhand bicep (from pulling back on the HG) and strong side shoulder don’t feel the strain from clamping the gun between them like a vise, you’re giving up more there than some handguard can ever give you. ;)

Very good advice.  Making it all muscle memory is the hard part once the beep sounds.

I tried it and I didn’t like it and went back to the JP. I did find the dot bounced too much for me, and was more difficult to control. My wife likes her CF hand guard though because she doesn’t have the strength to move the gun as well. Only way to know is to try it and see, but you may be disappointed, as I was.

Same here.  Need some weight on the front.

I had that a few times on my JP GMR-13.  Corrected it by either backing off on the buffer resistance, or changing the powder to either a faster powder, and possibly more of it.

Yes you can correct it but I have my JP short stroked to the max( much more that the JP short stroke kit) and still the stock trigger works 100% with 2.75lb pull, zero take up and zero over travel.  I really see no reason to change it works so well.

  7. The stock trigger in the GMR-15 is the JP "Easy Trigger" and when using the yellow springs with some armite lead based sear grease that came with my rifle, my pull weight is 2.75lb.  I believe the new modular triggers are advertised at 3.5lbs but I have not got my hands on one yet.  The stock easy trigger is so good I really don't care.

I did try a Hyperfire Eclipse and I would get some failure to cock or bolt follow so I went back to the stock trigger.  I do wish they offered a straight trigger shoe like they offer on the new modular triggers for the Easy Trigger but only the roller trigger is available which I do not want for USPSA matches.

  8. The Wilson shoots very well but does not offer the adjustable buffer system that the JP has.  You can tune your Ammo for it however if you reload.  The Wilson is a good quality rifle and well balanced.  The JP is slightly heavier but well balanced as well.  Wilson has done some things to their rifle that makes getting parts available only from Wilson.  Their lower is not mill spec.  I found this out when I tried to put a different upper on it and the hole spacing is different.  The Wilson trigger is not nearly as good as the JP stock trigger. I tried a hyper fire trigger and it would not fit.   The Wilson buffer tube has a rubber bumper made into it that is not removable. I had to change the buffer tube in order to try the JP SCS buffer.  I just got frustrated with the Wilson.  No one makes a mag well for it either.

Ok.. I need (want) something to stick my pile of Glock mags into and I can always use another division to frustrate me so I am buying a PCC.

Questions: I live near Wilson combat and they have been nice enough to tempt me with some really awesome looking options for PCC.

Does anyone have experience with the AR9 from Wilson? I don’t see them out in the wild much. Is it a price thing or are they not the best option?

Also, I REALLY want a 8inch barrel “Pistol” with a folding stock . . Is it true you cannot compete with this configuration? If so, outside of the ridiculous price could you build a two upper set up? Switch off to 16 for matches? Would there be tuning issues?

    How about the Banshee?

Thank you n advance for your thoughts

I live about 60 miles from Wilson Combat my self and have shot there AR9 for over a year.  At the time they didn't even have part numbers assigned to the maintenance parts IE firing pins, roll pins etc. I called and tried to order some roll pins for the extractor and spring powered ejector and was told that they didn't ship those parts and I would have to send my rifle in for them to put two roll pins in my bolt..............not kidding..........I said no thanks and bought a JP GMR-15.  Haven't shot the Wilson since and love the JP and it is a much better value.  Actual experience with both rifles now for over a year, I would buy the JP and not waste my money on the Wilson AR9.

  10. I was one of the initial testers on the Biltz 5015HD buffer in my JP GMR-15.  I found more dot movement than with the 5015HD buffer no matter which spring (JP polished rifle or carbine) I used so ended up staying with the 5007 buffer.  Bolt was stock JP and does not have a weight in it.  Results would be different with different bolts obviously.  I also short stroke my rifle by .750 and use a 25lb wave spring in the rear behind the delrin spacer.

Hello: The stock JP handguard is very heavy making transitions slower for most people. The buffer setup is too heavy and the spring is over sprung for 131-134PF reloads. I also think the comp is heavy as well. I run JP bolts and their 4 weight buffer that is lightened for my reloads. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric

    Thanks!

I don't own a JP but have shot quite a few and they shoot well but need upgrades to make them better

    Eric,

I find your comment about the JP misleading, can you explain.  If you were referring the MPX then I totally understand.  The JP does not need upgrades to make them better unless you just want to remove some weight.  The MPX needs a lot of upgrades and also is very front heavy in stock form so would like to hear your comments.  Thanks.

I compete with an MPX gen 2, I have a backup MPX, the JP is light on recoil if you reload and tune the gun.

I've been plagued by issues with the mpx.

I take delivery of my JP in a few weeks. I promise it is far more expensive to start with the MPX.

    100% agree!  My experience exactly
