Hi all. I'm wanting to load Hornady's 115gr HAP projectiles in 9mm Luger behind Vihtavuori N320. Vihtavuori's data lists a minimum load of 4gr of N320 behind a 115gr Hornady XTP with COL 1.142". Problem is 1.142" is way too long with this projectile in my Tanfoglio. The ogive jams into the rifling before the cartridge head spaces on the case mouth, and the slide can't close.
I recall that Hornady's manual lists a COL of 1.075" for the 115gr XTP projectile, but doesn't have any loads using N320 powder. I've confirmed that the projectile needs to be seated down to around a COL of 1.075" to allow the cartridge to chamber properly and the projectile to be sitting just clear of the rifling.
So, I need some advice about reducing the powder weight below 4gr to allow me to seat the projectile deeper. If I seat the projectile deeper to a COL of 1.075" from 1.142", that's about 6% deeper. What would be an appropriate starting point to reduce the powder to? I've read information that suggests the relationship between COL and pressure is linear, and other sources suggest its exponential. I'm just looking for a sensible starting point sub-120pf.
