Doing the math on this, the ammo would have to be 1646 FPS to make 107 PF. If it did make this velocity it would be in violation of rule 5.5.5
I don't want to be anywhere near steel being shot at this velocity.
5.5.5 is for PCC's, not handguns. Published velocity is 1650. No idea what the test barrel was and I haven't chronoed it yet (got a little sample to try - haven't fired a single round yet.
Online reviews indicate it disintegrates/doesn't spall, but again, no real idea of distance, angle, etc.

What does it even stand for?
Almost like someone should invent a thing where you can post information everyone can read... give it a standardized name... and make it easy to search. "pcsl shooting" got me the first result on my search.

Anyone here shot or shooting Norma 65gr / 107PF ammo for Steel Challenge (or loading something similar)? What's your experience been? Thinking about getting some to try out.

Now that PCSL has a published ruleset, planned matches, etc., is it time to add them to the existing USPSA/IDPA forums here (rules, announcements, discussions)?
After watching a video today I went and looked at the rule book, planned match list, etc. and I'll probably spend more time going through it later but it looks interesting. Also looks very much still in progress.
I searched, but outside of a specific USPSA politics thread I didn't find another mention of it.

Shooting a dot, I get my prescription set for distance only and up close can be a bit blurry for all I care.
I bring a dot in to the optometrist so I can check when they're doing the "is this better than that" thing because a small change that's not obvious looking at the letters makes a big difference in a dot.
For iron sights they had me bring the pistol in too (cool Opto, now semi retired ) and I did a number of draws while they measured the distance to the front sight. That made for an excellent image of the front sight, but everything past 10 yards was blurry, so we kicked the focus out a few clicks-- I couldn't see dust specks on the front sight anymore, but downrange was much better. I had only the dominant eye lens done with this and left the other eye prescription same as red dot-- distance. Takes some getting used to but worked well.
Interesting advice. I had a good chat with Chris at HG today - will see how well I take to everyday progressives next week then mara decision. I don’t want to have to worry about head tilt when shooting.

Does anyone have/know the thread measurements of the endcap on the Sidewinder 9?
Trying to see if it’s ASR Alpha compatible (1.125x28).

School me on prescription glasses. I got a prescription for the first time last year for slight nearsightedness. Got single vision glasses that helped with distance, but had to take them off for up close. Got my prescription updated THIS year and ordered my first ever pairs of progressives, using Visionworks Digital Progressive, which should help reduce head tilt (I'll find out next week). Also have an astigmatism that the older pair REALLY helped with.
Looking at HD Ruby, but not sure what type of lens to go with. Clearing up the astigmatism will help most, clearing up slight blur at a distance second, but not at the expense of making things blurry up close.
Folks with similar eyes have any advice on what kind of lenses to consider? Single focus? Bifocal? Progressive? What's worked for you in shooting?

But what about the second part? Doesn't seem like many gunboard posters know the difference between bore and groove diameter. Why not fix that, too?
Because it wasn't brought up until you got called out - it's a distractor - and doesn't have anything to do with this thread. Feel free to start one if you'd like it documented for posterity and you can educate us all.

But where is the fun in being pedantically correct all the time?
I don't find misleading others fun. Call me crazy.

I sometimes say "clip" when "box magazine" is meant just to distract those who think the distinction is the pinnacle of firearms expertise.
Considering things get ingested into and spat out by search engines, not being intentionally wrong in a way that can mislead others seems like a better approach.

Interesting, there is a higher priced 2011-ish gun coming out for P320 clips. Now if they will make one to use my Plastic M&P magazines...
When did P320's switch to using clips?

I shoot Glocks exclusively and although the triggers I installed are top notch, do you think the Platypus trigger would be a significant improvement?
Yes, it's a 1911 trigger. Much improved, especially if you ask them for a competition weight trigger.
9 minutes ago, dapribek said:Is the recoil manageable with its aluminum frame?
Yes, although I'm adding some sandpaper grips to mine because of the heat and sweat. It's fine dry... wet it needs grip tape, etc.
9 minutes ago, dapribek said:And finally, although I can reach my Glock’s mag release (without a back strap), I just tried my buddy’s STI this morning, and I wasn’t able to depress it without rolling the pistol towards me. Is the Platypus’ grip smaller than a regular 2011’s? And do you think the mag release will be able to be depressed more easily like my Glocks?
It is *slightly* thinner, mostly because there are no grip panels (it's machined in) and the glock mags are slightly narrower. Without putting one in your hand you're not going to know.

C&H Precision CHPWS does great work and they have several mounting plates to fit most all footprints. They also agreed to make a custom mounting plate for my 1911 to fit the Sig Romeo Max/XL.
I've seen their stuff... I'll check them out.

Not sure if they do Eagles, but I just got one back from DP Custom works. Doug mills the slide and you don't need a plate. I would call him and see if he does Eagles.
No 1911/2011's, but quick feedback and a referral to Impact Machine.

DSC gunworks has no wait time and will get it back to you in a week or two. It's about $200 plus cost of the plate or you can supply your own plate.
He does really nice work.

Thanks, all, this gives me some options to reach out to. I don't expect the Eagle will have the slide width for an RMR cut without a plate but I'm okay with that. I'll start doing my homework on these three.

I see several places on the internet - anyone have recommendations vs. google searches for places that do a good job milling STI Eagles for RDS's? Likely an RMR cut for the new Holosun competition optic, which I understand will require a milling + plate solution because of the slide width.
Is CHPWS the default provider here at about $250 for a plate solution? Someone else? Dawson wants $600 for DPO milling. Will Staccato still do this directly?

It's for any Docter-footprint optic. Note that the Vortex Venom and Burris FF III will NOT fit, however, because the optics cut is straight in front and both of those optics curve, so they're too long.
10 hours ago, Joe4d said:So the guns ship with the VOrtex venom/ Burris foot print plate only ?
Not a huge deal the Burris sights are pretty well regarded. The new IV is out and has a bigger lens. The venom is kinda dated, wonder if VOrtex has a newer on on the wayI'm actually a BIG fan of the new FF IV. My III's have been durable, and the IV has multi-reticle, including what's essentially an 11 MOA dot. Much bigger window, too.
Springfield is out of their mind with the plates, though, with the new pricing. CHPWS is making compatible plates, and any other AOS compatible plate should work as well. It's like they're making up losses on return-and-fix for the first batch by up-charging for accessories. Bad form.

I don’t expect my trigger job to hold up with their crappy trigger components.
Whereas my OEM trigger is getting better every 500 rounds. I don’t have a problem with the components they’ve included, but I understand some people want different materials.

1500+ rounds through two (4.25, 5) on OEM parts and no issues. My 5” if the one with the updated slide and spring.

Thanks, all. Anyone have experience with this Midway bag?
Is it time to add Practical Competition Shooting League to the USPSA/IDPA forums?

I read your initial reply asking what it stood for as sarcastic (referencing their smallness/newness) and made the point that the effort to do that vs. doing one simple Google search that would have gotten the answer seemed a bit disingenuous.
It's small and lesser known, but all of their information is freely available online.
