Well I was searching for something like this for some info. I will be getting a Dillon 650 here pretty soon and I load 9mm and 38 super Comp. I was thinking of getting the 650 with the 9mm conversion kit and just buy a 223 shell plate for it as well to load 38sc. Is that I will need if I'm using a case feeder or will I need the whole conversion kit for 38sc in order to use it with the case feeder?

I have the old two port comp on mine, it took a *lot* of work to get it to shoot as flat as possible without it beating my hand to a bloody mess. Dot still leaves the glass but it comes back on target nicely. I'll be changing to the new three port comp in the future
what load did you use to make the gun shoot flat?
-
Yeap a tuned extractor is all you need. If that. I have one extractor for 38 super and one that I use for 38 supercomp and 9mm.

That's good that you fixed it. Inahd the same problem but with hornady dies. I switched it to a Lee resizer die and never had that problem again. I probably need to taper the pin as well to make the hornady one work.

I just recently tried a load I was told and I really liked it. I need to play with it a little more because the velocities are way to high but the gun feels vey flat. I tried the following:
115 Gr MG JHP
Accurate 7 @ 11.5 gr.
OAL at 1.240
1,585 FPS which puts me at 182 power factor.
I will be trying with less powder tomorrow and see what it feels like. I never thought I was going to like a power factor of 182 but wow it was really flat.

Well I tried 11.3 grains of Accurate #7 and it felt great. I was getting 175 power factor but that much powder worked the comp well. The comp I am using is the Brazos thunder comp 2. I am loading the 115 gr. MG JHP and it's very flat.

Last week I was able to see the classifieds. As of about a few days ago I can't see the classifieds anymore. I usually buy some stuff there and check it multiple times a day to see if I can find stuff that I need. I would it hate if I missed an item I really wanted to buy because of this issue.
Thanks,
Rick

I have a couple of mbx mags and out of the bag have been great. No need to replace the follower.
-
I have both and I have leaned more towards the 9mm over the 38 super. Its mainly because I don't want to be worried about brass after a stage or match. Also on my mags, I have had problems with 38 super loading consistently into my gun. So I guess the 9mm is more forgiving if the mags are not perfectly tuned atleast on my gun. But I will say that I used some 3n38 powder with the 38 super and the gun did shoot flatter than with the 9mm. So in my case it's a give or take. So my answer for now would probably lean more towards the 9mm for reliability on my gun and not having to hunt for brass after a stage.

I'm on squad 2. We might get merged with another squad cause we are only 4 on that squad as of now.

Those look like some fun stages. Good luck to all of us that will be out there having some fun.
-
yeah I will be taking at least 500 but I wanted to make sure that would be enough. Has anyone seen any stages for this or will they not put them up before the match? This will be the first time I shoot this match.
-
Does anyone know approximately how many rounds this match will be?

Thanks.

I have an STI 2011 open gun that has a pinned rear safety. Recently I have noticed that if I grip the gun on the rear safety with a good amount of pressure with my shooting hand, the the hammer will not fall all the way and strike the firing pin. Do any of you know what can be causing this mechanical malfunction besides me just trying to grip it?
Thanks

After I have shot 4 classifiers, how long does it take to show on the uspsa website or for uspsa to recognize my classification?
-
What kind of comp and how many popple holes do you have?
-
I use the following for 38 super using a brazos thunder comp 2.
7.5 grains of autocomp
124 Montana Gold HP
CCI small rifle Primers
1.240 OAL
This works great on my STI with the above compensator. This makes about 170 PF.

I am using Montana Gold JHP 124 gr for both 9mm and 38 super. I like it better than the 115gr. I feel the 115 are bit snappier on my gun. The 124 is more of a push for me.
-
Yes for open gun. Pretty much what everyone else above me said is true.

I would still think of investing on a dillon. I have an STI DVC and I also get free 40 cal ammo at work but I only use it for practice and local matches. If you reload to barely making major, you will notice the difference and not want to shoot the duty stuff for any bigger matches.Still waiting on my DVC which will hopefully be here in January. Ive been getting worried with all the reviews saying the gun likes longer hand loads. I currently shoot Speer lawman 180 grain because its what my dept uses and its free. Ive ordered three mbx magazines hoping a tuned mag will feed better. Don't want to have to buy a Dillon reloader after dropping this much coin on a pistol.

I have used varget, H4895, and R-15 for all my 223. I have loaded from 62gr - 80gr with all those powders. I have had success with all these powders for competition.

I got to shoot it today and Montana Gold HP is the way to go. I loaded with 6.7gr of autocomp for 124gr (170 pf) and 7.6 gr of autocomp for 115 gr. (170 pf) I felt the 124gr to shoot smoother. The accuracy was superb. 5 shots at approx 17 yards shot in about a 2 in group. I shot everything off hand. I'm sure if I would've put it on a rest it would've been all in one hole.
ar15rick,
any chance you can let us know how it went?
I am hunting accuracy and higher power-factor
so I am looking for your thoughts.
