  1. Start small.

Tell us what kind of events your club already holds first off, if you guys don't shoot anything sanctioned by anybody, then formal 3-gun is going to be pretty far out of your league.

There are logical next steps for if you're nearly there, not even close, or going in the wrong direction (IDPA, ha).

From the sounds of it, an outlaw 2-gun match might be a more sensible start.

Main focus right now are rifle matches 300-1000 yds. We do have some informal IDPA matches. Maybe I should think smaller for now and see how much interest we get before suggesting 3 gun. The Outlaw sounds cool. Just hate not having anything around here to shoot. I am in Nothern, DE about 20 mins from Philadelphia.

  2. I am trying to get my club to start 3-gun tournaments. The idea is getting run by the Board at the next meeting to see if it is something they want to move forward with. My question is, is there a source that goes into detail of how to get it up and running? I would most likely have to assemble a team and need basics on how many people it takes for set-up, judges, etc. Just entry level stuff that I can present to the club. Any help is appreciated.

I have read some things on 3gunnation's website already. Just looking for a lot of info I can sift through to gain more knowledge on the subject.

I'm sure if it happens, the first year will be a learning curve on the ins/outs but hoping we can get it done. There is nothing for 3-gun within 1.5 hours of here that I can find.

  3. Those needing a "right-now" replacement for the upper nut can head to the local auto parts store and get a 13/16-20 spindle nut (Dorman 615-074 for example).

I bought a package of them and drilled/tapped them for set-screws which allow me to move my RT-1200 "motor" from a .223 prep toolhead to a .308 prep toolhead (XL-650) without having to perform any major re-adjustments to trim length.

That is awesome, thanks for the tip! What size drill/tap/die did you use?

  4. I use a 16# spring on my 5.25 in 9mm. I don't know if that helps, but I haven't had any problems. I sometimes ride the slide release when I shoot, you wouldn't be doing that, would you?

you know what, great question. Considering it did not happen on every mag I might have. I will have to pay closer attention to my grip next outing.

  5. Have to go try to get in as a walk-on for my first USPSA this weekend (I'm 38). Nervous as h#ll. Funny how no matter how many years you have been shooting and how familiar you are with your guns...you can still get these nerves.

  6. I agree with jmorrris's explanation.

For their cyclic rate is say they just load 100 rounds as fast as possible. Machine needs no topping up etc and operator can crank the handle like a masturbating monkey. So they manage 100 in 6 min. I think that's super fast for manually fed bullets but not impossible.

Now, if we get a masturbating money to work the press...does the cyclic loading production rate increase or decrease? :roflol:

  7. 1.) load rate to me is once machine is ready to run the 1st case until an hour passes. I don't count preloading everything.

1a.) you are loaded when the beep of the over-loaded sensor goes off, not before. You must keep drinking until it goes off

  8. I got tennis elbow really bad last year. The doc said you have tennis elbow. You should not make this motion (it was the exact motion you make when picking up a bullet and placing it on the case). I thought it was a joke at first. When I told her it was the exact motion you make when reloading, she did not understand why I would ever want to reload bullets. She said, "Well don't make that motion". I was "forced" to get a bullet feeder. I really did not want to spend the money on a bullet feeder. However, it was one of the best things I have ever purchased for my reloading. I can easily load over 1000 and hour on my Dillonl 650.

I just got diagnosed with tennis elbow on my handle arm...will a doctor write a prescription for a motor and a bullet feeder? Does insurance cover it? :goof:
