No issues with my 4G4's making length in either gen1 or gen2 STI mags.

My Gen 1 & 2 STI's with Gramms guts and TT 4G4's have been reliable , cant say the same for the MBX mag that I have.FWIW

I run a 11lb'r. Shooting 169PF and 173PF. Runs like a champ with the 11.

A Marauder would be great for what you mentioned.As far as holsters.....look at RizGear.The Bladetech that fits the STI Edge 2011 will work with the maurauder.The Safariland 579 GLS will work with slight mods.This holster is good for 3Gun.

Orr Tactical makes 9 Major loads using Hornady HAP 124's. www.orrtactical.com You will have to call as the 9 Majors are not listed on their website. Veteran owned and operated using all American made components.

I also have 3 " new style " STI mags with Gramms guts and they work flawless. They are 40 cal. Was breaking in a friends new 2011 9mm build today and ended up putting Gramms guts in the MBX mag to get it to run reliable.

Any 1k-1.5k 1911 will get the job done in the hands of an experienced shooter such as yourself.SCTaylor is right....soft shooting , Match Grade Veteran Made ORR Tactical ammo will take you to the winners circle.
Of course...practicing with it while shooting at Ping Time Targets is even better !

Riz Gear makes kydex holsters.Also ,Bladetech STI 2011 holster's will accept the Marauder.

The Marauder is STI's do it all 9mm 2011.It is has a light rail for nite shoots.Its is IDPA legal.Makes a great 3Gun pistol.And can be shot in USPSA..Limited Minor.

I started with a Marauder.Reasons :can put light on for nite shoots or tactical training.Marauder is a do it all gun. THEN...wanted to shooter Major so found a good deal on a STI 5" Tactical in 40.......railed.....can use either gun at nite or for SHTF. LOL
Of course...practicing with it while shooting at Ping Time Targets is even better !
