  1. Today, I don't care if I can hit at  25 yds or not, cause I know that when it's for real, the thing to do at  25 yds is move to cover.  Without ear protection, and with realistic CCW gear,  all this longer range  stuff goes right out the window.

I love the idea's in this thread especially about relaxing in the match and not worrying about who is watching you, or using their energy to help you. :D

The reason I quoted sixx is I was talking to a Soldier a while back about on of our stages and his comment was "If it was for real he would back off about 1/2 click and call in an air strike".

  2. I have a G2 in my truck, my wife has one also. A Z6 with the 120 lumen bulb for easy access at night. And I always have an E2e on my hip (this replaced the mini-mag light and fits in the same holster, a good flashlight is necessary for my job). B)

Also our boys overseas have a lot of G2s in Tan according to my source.

(I gotta wonder though plastic framed gun OK, plastic with metal lining flashlight bad?)

  3. The surefire Z series lights are the only way to fly. I've carried one daily for 6 years and its seen all kinds of weather, been dropped, and abused.... still works great. I'm sure the plastic ones are ok for sticking in the glove box but the metal ones will take a beating for years.

I've had a plastic one for a few years, and it works great no problems with dropping or banging it around.

I also have a Z6 (not made any more), and a couple E2's I carry an E2 all the time and have never had a problem with it but they are expensive (I would add well worth it).

  4. Yes I use Glass Plus and a paper towel when cleaning the gun or my shirt at a match.

If you own a C-more long enough (mines over 10 years old) you get a hazy ring of lead/copper that will not come off with regular cleaning. Ira Kay owner of C-More told me to let it soak an hour or so with a little Hoppes 9 dabbed on the lens. It really works great. Glass is so much cleaner. Once a year is all I do. ;)

    Interesting, gotta try that.

You mean just the lense right, not the whole sight? <_<

  5. As long as we are beating this around...

Glock used to make a magazine that had a light holder built into the bottom of it.  I don't know if they still make it.  I think it was a factory part.

If it is a factory option does that affect the rule for only open class, don't think it would but... I don't want to be RO at a match and have a competitor arguing about it.

  6. Nothing should ever be behind backward-falling pepper poppers. Unless there is something else to shoot (and I mean multiple shots) after hitting the popper, shooters will hit it multiple times. When it is falling back, it is a bullet ramp, launching nearly-intact, high-velocity projectiles over your berm.

I agree with Erik's comment about backward falling poppers. All the poppers with NS targets behind them that I have seen here are forward falling (fairly common here). I just consider it another test of the shooter, and you would be amazed how many good shooters still hit the NS.

  7. I'm sorry, perhaps I should have been more specific. I was wondering if anyone was using them, how they felt compared to other powders like the VV, and IMR 4576 and 7625, and if they thought they were dirty. :)

My prefered bullet weight is 125, but I havn't worked up a load for any bullet weight yet. (I do know that I prefer more powder for a given velocity to make the comp more effective though.)

  8. RE: Anti-Viral Ware

I un-installed McAfee and installed AVG, a security program I was a bit familiar with and had seen work well on other systems.  AVG offers a free, at-home version which is what I'm using..  It updates itself frequently (and notifies you when it has some new builds), updates quickly and scans e-mail in 'n out without a hitch.  I still run Adaware and Spybot-S&D 5 days out of 7, and seem to be pretty clean much of the time as a result.

Still, most reports say SpybotS&D is "indispensible" and one should run Lavasoft's Adaware as a side-by-side ware.

I agree, AVG is a good program. Spybot is "indispensible" and the highest rated anti-spyware program, it works very well. Have had to clean up many computers from spyware and I always use Spybot and then Adaware. (Note sometimes Adaware will call Spybot as spyware, make sure you have the latest version of each. Also note you should set up Spybot to run on startup when you first install it to catch any stealth programs.)

No anti-spy program will catch all of the spyware though, but there is too much detail in that to put it in here.

  9. Probably the best thing you can do is try several frames S_I, Para with and without grips and Caspian. Some people don't like how a polymer frame feels when they shoot since it flexes more than a metal frame, most can't really feel that though. It also depends on where you want the weight.

TGO prefers metal frames, and I have heard the Burner prefers metal.

Springfield also has a metal frame, but you would have to buy .45 and convert it since they only make full guns in .45.

  10. I tried the static cling window tint and opening up the rear sight notch to get better light on both sides of the blade at tonight's match. I know you shouldn't change two things at the same time, but I gotta say I liked how it worked. :D

(I have a problem with my eyes switching dominance like Carina, when shooting groups sometimes the target is in focus with the left eye, and the front sight in focus with the right eye. I've had this problem since I had RK on my eyes a few years ago, especially when it starts to get dark.)

  11. I can see the sights lift now, the way I learned to do it was in practice, deliberately focusing on my eye to ensure it was not blinking. It took a little bit of effort to do, and I remind myself periodically to watch this.

Most people blink when the gun goes off and do not realize it until they focus on their eye while they are shooting a gun. <_<
