Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Interesting. This is just the kind of info I'm looking for. Never heard that before. So who has a good recipe for WST and blue bullets 125s? What OAL for my glock barrel?
  2. Would it be safer to just go with a lighter bullet? Maybe the 124?
  3. I was in the same boat awhile back. I went with a hornady lock n load progressive, mainly because that's what some others I shoot with use and I was new to reloading. I've been loading .40 and once it's set up its a breeze. I can load about 250/hour taking my time, and I'm pretty new to the reloading game so I tend to be careful. I'm sure you could do more if you wanted to. I don't have any experience with other presses, just thought I'd give my experience on what I have. In the end I think it comes down to how much time you want to spend reloading. A higher end press will allow you to pump out more rds/hour. For me I'm pretty satisfied with a rate of 250/hour. Also I think I'm going to end up liking the lock n load feature as I look into doing other calibers.
  4. I got my self a Hornady lock n load progressive and have enjoyed loading 40. Real happy with it. Going to start expanding into other calibers and figured I'd start with 9mm. I've been shooting coated blue bullets and I'll probably stick with one of there offerings. I'm looking for a minor load for my glock. Here's my questions: What weight to buy for a minor load? I was thinking 147gr. Is heavier really better? Looking for a nice soft shooting load for the wife/kids Can I use WST? It's what I'm using for 40, and I'd like to keep it the same. Knowing I want to use this powder, will that effect the bullet I choose? Now a curve ball question: If/when we are able to shoot carbines I imagine I'll be using a 9 for that also. Any idea what a carbine load would look like? Does a nice minor load from a glock make a decent carbine load? I would imagine you could use the same bullet, but just adjust the powder? Thanks for the info. It's much appreciated.
  5. So I tried the grams follower/spring. It only worked in one mag and while I can get 20/21 in the mag it must be tilting because sometimes I end up with a round under the follower. The factory mag with the Dawson base pad will hold 20 but on occasion the follower sticks with 3-4 rounds left in the mag. This mag and the other one with the "factory" mecgar follower has trouble locking back on empty. The follower gets pushed to the side and wedges on the slide stop instead of pushing it up. So not only does it not lock back, but it won't drop free. What do you think? Scrap the whole works and start over? I was going to get some of the promised mbextreme mags but my patience is running out.
  6. Thank you for this. I'll be ordering some to try out. On the factory/Dawson combo when I dropped the empty mag on the concrete, it exploded. Seems like the lips holding the base on let it slip off. Hasn't happened before, but was wondering if anyone else has had it happen. I have a nickel mecgar that I modded to work and the base seems to be very tight on that one so I'm not worried about it coming off. At practice the other night I used a members STI mag and it worked perfectly. Does anyone know if the STI mags from mbxextreme work? Seems like that's what I'm looking for but when I emailed them they didn't think they would work. The para ones from them are coming but I need mags NOW!!! Haha.
  7. When you guys talk about grams followers/spring which are you using? When I look on their website I see nothing for para mags. A link to the actuall one would be awesome. I love this gun but the mag thing is turning into a PITA. I'm running 18 in the factory mag and Dawson base, same in a mecgar para mag. Seems if I cram 19 in they get stuck like previously stated. A 20-21rd mag would have saved me a reload in our last match.
  8. Yes it has magnets. They are recessed into the polymer so there is no metal to metal contact. You can move the magnets around by drifting them out with a hammer and punch. They aren't designed to rub directly on the gun. Tell the guy with slide wear to just tap them down a bit. From what I've seen so far the plastic won't wear the slide/dust cover any worse than any other polymer holster.
  9. Just an update for anyone interested. I decided to go with a hogue powerspeed universal holster. I am happy with it so far, at least I haven't seen any drawbacks to it yet. It's certainly faster than the serpa that I'm used to using with my glock.
  10. So I wonder if their pro series like this: http://shop.blade-tech.com/index.php?cPath=1_2&osCsid=fkkfocu7lc88s1cpe6vk6rbdg2would work?
  11. What model holster? Are you happy with it? It fits well enough to be secure?
  12. I'm having a hard time finding a holster for this gun. Was hoping to get a blade tech speed rig for it. Some say an STI edge holster will fit and some the para. Anyone have real world experience to share? This is the full dust cover hi cap .40 model. Any links you could share to the actuall holster would be great. Thanks Lots of good info on this forum! Been lurking here gathering info for awhile, so just wanted to say thanks!
