I’ve been looking at the carver custom magwell. I’m curious as to how it works with stock base pads.
I had a stainless from Carver. I wasn't impressed, especially when compared to a SSS. The front didn't hook into the grip so there was a lot of play. Took some filing to knock off enough of the grip plug to clear mags. Inside isn't very funnel like, but that seemed to be a by product of allowing factory basepads to work.

I started with the competition kit. Later went to the flat forward set trigger and had dead trigger issues. Replaced the competition kit striker block with the one that came with the flat forward set and never had another issue.

I have the tac version, same gun just has a rail and different rear sight as far as I know. Not sure about the p16 mags, as mine came with 2 MBX's and some Mecgars with dawson basepads. Most of the internals had been upgraded with other normal parts. There is a long thread on here that should give you most of the info that you will need. I enjoyed shooting mine but now it just sits in the safe as I moved on to another gun.

I'm on a very slim budget. I was able to get into 2011's by finding a great deal on a used RIA Tac in 40. It had been worked over by a gunsmith for the previous owner and it ran great. Only negative I could have for the RIA, is that it is very heavy. It shot better than I did. I would still be using it, but a buddy gave me a smoking deal on an Edge, so now the RIA sits as a backup. If you are patient, that means hit refresh on the classifieds every half hour, you can find something that will be a fit for you.

Overall I like it, I can easily see the arguments on both sides though.
I don't think the added mods are going to make anyone jump up dramatically in the standings at a match.
Personally I will be much more likely to shoot production when a second run at a local is available instead on L10 or Open with my Limited gun, since I have an M&P setup for ESP all I have to do is take off the magwell.

Need a new extractor. Which is preferred: EGW HD, Wilson XS, or an Aftec? I've heard the stories of the Aftec being ball-peen hammer reliable, but is twice the price twice as good as the other two.

Tall or short? I bought the tall first and it was too tall, short worked fine with stock height front.
Front site is .200, not sure if thats tall or short.

As soon as I figure out which Dawson rear site works in mine that will be my next upgrade.

Thank you. I'm new to the platform and I don't wanna order parts that don't fit. If you don't mind which part number the housing that is in the picture.

I’ve been running the RIA Tactical in 40 for a while now in USPSA. Only modifications are a trigger job, 12lb variable recoil spring, 15 lb main spring, TF magwell and GC mags with Dawson extensions. Had to open up the magwell a bit to run those basepads.
It’s loosened up a bit but runs flawlessly and flat. I’ve recently started reloading which greatly improved its shootability with custom loads. Also invest in a metal main spring housing because the adjustment screw on the TF magwell ends to dig into the plastic main spring housing causing the magwell to loosen up after a while.

I'm assuming you're right handed. Some right handed shooters like them because they can still use the safety when shooting WHO.
I personally only single sided safeties on my 2011's. My grip is pretty high and the right side safety digs into the knuckle of my trigger finger, even if it has been shaved down.
Yes I am right handed, and I have noticed the same thing when gripping the gun.

I am looking at getting into a 2011 and am wondering if a strictly USPSA Limited gun would benefit from an ambi thumb safety, or will a single sided work just fine?

With such a big swing I would feel better if they retroactively applied this. I'm currently sitting at 84% (under new HHF I would be at 77%). So if I do make M with 5 "Old" classifiers and 1 "New" classifier, I'm gonna feel like I don't deserve it, or at the least like there should be an asterisk next to my classification.
