Called CMC and the tech immediately said send it back. Asked what it was replacing and explained about the broken one. He said you have a lifetime warranty on it and send that one back also. Shipped both back and in about a week with shipping had 2 brand new tested triggers back from them.

Had same experience. Had a flat 3.5 that started to get weird on reset. They made some suggestions to try, but ultimately replaced it quickly.

  2. Use it just like a red dot.

To me it has every advantage. Clarity, etched reticle, can get some with a tight center dot which is better for precision shots, etc.

The only disadvantages I have found is:

-Lack of unlimited eye relief (not a problem for me as eye box is generous.)

    -Not as many choices.

I feel that most prism reticles are goofy and way too busy. Trying to do too much. This causes lots of problems when it is all illuminated and light starts getting low. It destroys my night vision and bleedsI like Leupold one the best, the one with crosshairs and only the center dot is illuminated, unfortunately it's unavailable.

Don't need anything but the center dot to light up in a prism or variable optic, imo.

  3. I tried a whole bunch of shotguns prior to buying one. Of all of them, the one I liked most was a 22" Versamax Camo turkey model with sights. Shot slugs great. Shot everything great actually. Softest of all the guns I tried. It had some work done to it, but not a lot. I know the owner and it has many thousands through it. Great gun.

I ended up going with a lighter gun and 26" barrel, and I am very happy (franchi affinity) but I still like the way the VM's shoot. This franchi feels more like a Benelli, which I have grown to like, but it's not as soft feeling.

I'll hijack the thread. I'm looking for that unicorn shape in grips. People who play computer games know this syndrome from trying to find the perfect shaped gaming mouse.

    What I have so far.

    - The stock wood grips. Kinda too thick and don't provide enough grip.

    - LOK thin bogies. The right side feels ok, but the support hand is just too thin. My palm doesn't have enough contact with grip. My strong hand fingers wrap pretty far in to the weak side of the grip.

    - LOK palm swell bogies. The right side feels a bit too thick. I have hard time reaching mag release and because the texture is so rough breaking my grip is slow. Also getting the grip back is slow. The left side is okayish, but the hump is too forward. I have trouble getting my grip high. I end up gripping a tad too low.

What I'm wondering where I'll spend my next 100eur. Or should I just start sanding and shaping the wood grip to make it fit my hand. What I want to know where Henning and Unica grips fit compared to three I have now.

On my CZ TSO, I have the LOK Bogies, but had them made fatter. So, they are flat, but wider on both sides. This allows much more weak hand contact, imo.

For a long while they didn't make the wider bogies for Tanfo, but apparently they do now.

Might be worth trying. I really love them.

Have any of you tried the Kaw Valley CF handguard?

If you watch this video it looks like they have some sort of Magpul device attached to it...  Maybe some kind of attachment for a laser?  Couldnt find any info about it on the Kaw Valley web site.

I have their 15" handguard. I have not attached it yet. Seems quite flimsy to be honest. 4 short screws holding it in, and that's it. If I mount it I may use some green loctite like MI calls for on some of their rails.

It will replace an ALG possibly. But the ALG is just about as light and super rigid.

So, I am on the fence with it, lol. But i'll keep this updated if I do use it.

  6. I did a similar build to what you are doing. Bottom rifle. Here's what I used:

-Aero slickside upper with 12" Atlas rail

-Faxon 14.5" midlength with Ti VG6 Epsilon style brake

-SLR .625 sentry 6 adj gas block

    -AIM lightweight BCG

    -Taccom ultralight plastic buffer

    -Sprinco yellow -10% spring

    -Hiperfire 3gun trigger

I have to say this rifle (SBR actually) is sublime. Shoots so soft and flat and very very light. It's somehow greater than the sum of it's parts. Just a joy to shoot.

I think you're on the right track for something fun and useable. Good luck.

  7. So, I decided to try this wacky stock out. I've found I really like the way it mounts to shoulder. Happy with feel and adjustability.

However, man I can't keep it together. Something always comes loose. No castle nut. So, for you fellas/ladies who use one: Have you experienced this?

Are you loctiting the tube into the receiver?

    Any opinions would be appreciated.

  8. I use 9lb. with 150bb over 3.2TG in my TSO and ran a 10lb previously in a CZ-75.

    I use a 10lb. With 200bb over 4.2 of VV320 in my major .40 pistol.

CGW haven’t sent me a cease and desist letter yet, so I think I’m good.

I’m glad to know this is for tuning, as I had done it strictly to batter my 1700$ pistol into pieces as quickly as possible.

  9. The TSO is better in every way than the TS. Just the frame checkering alone is worth the money to me.

That said, the TS is an awesome gun, and if I were going to go to FFE to have their work done to it I would buy the regular TS.

The TS is the best value in a steel competition gun available. These are just my opinions.

  10. Reminds me of a buddy who always threatens to shoot USPSA. I get a lot of questions, because a short perusal of the actual rules and gear requirements is too brainy.

Q: "Hey, can I use a Mossberg Shockwave with brace, extended tube and red dot in Open"?

A: "No. No you can not use shotguns in a pistol match"

Q: "OK, well, then I'll use my Dan Wesson in SS..."

A: "No, because you ported it, installed a comp, and it has a red dot. It's a SA only trigger."

Q: "Ok, maybe I'll stick to the USPSA rifle match, and just use my AR with brace..."

A: "Nope, pistols are not allowed at rifle matches"

Q: "DANG STUPID RULES!! WHY DO THEY MAKE IT SO DIFFICULT?? OKAY, I guess its carry optics then. I'll use my 19".

A: "Unfortunately, you made a "roland special" so you will have to shoot Open Minor....."

    Etc etc etc etc.

Ive had several BA barrels. However the last couple Hanson profile 17.7’s were a bit disappointing accuracywise. Both were over MOA with about everything. However the last 12.5” BA was well under MOA with everything I tried.

That's interesting. I have a BA 12.5" that is one of the most accurate barrels I have owned. Got it on sale for like 94$ !!

Actually, I got it for cheap project I was doing. Paired it with a 35$ Andersen slick side upper. Imagine my complete annoyance when it shot better than my 325$ 16" barrel in a nice upper!!

  12. I have the Gunner 14.5" with SLR .625, and have had the 18" gunner with SLR .625.

The 14.5" is superb on a lightweight SBR with 1-4 Steiner. Its perfect for that. I bought it after using the 18" Gunner for quite awhile.

The 18" Gunner felt amazing. The way it swings feels great. It was accurate enough for me for 3gun. I did feel like it started to wander a little after getting hot.

But honestly I have never tested for it. It is now on a buddys gun and he likes it.

Recently wanted to try a little more weight and got a deal on the Odin Works 18" 3gun. It has the Odin block. I haven't yet really wrung it out but my initial impressions are that it shoots. It shot 55grn great when I zeroed it. I remember walking up to 200yrds to look at my group and being impressed with myself, lol. And, I am frankly not the greatest rifleman and it was a new 1-6 scope. This barrel feels very accurate to me. Really looking forward to trying some heavier stuff. Right now I am satisfied as I paid under 200$ for it.

Essentially, if it was leaning with just the top of the barrel supporting it and you put enough weight on it it could probably do this.  The barrel is free-floating, so let's say you have it propped up in a corner with the buttstock on the floor and the muzzle leaning against the wall (barrel is four inches longer than the hand guard), and then somebody fell against the rifle or put a big load against it, then it would probably bend at the first part where it meets the receiver...which is at the barrel nut.  And again, it was in a soft case so that could have padded it from showing an impact blow, but wouldn't give much if any protection against a large weight or mass pushing down on it.

The cubbies are used by a lot of shooters who can have heavy range bags, ammo cans, or the like....I know that I do.  A black soft rifle case can be hard to see in there if you've also got a winter jacket and other stuff around it as well.  But I don't remember the rifle taking a fall or slamming it on anything.  I don't remember anyone during the plate shoot putting stuff in there, but then there was about an hour that I  left it there since I was there early sighting it in, then went out to grab some coffee before the plate shoot started in the evening.  I put it flat on the rear floor of my SUV on the away home like I always do, and there as nothing heavy that could have rolled over it.

Here's a crude diagram of what I think could have happened as it was in the bag leaning in the cubby corner.....

    BenPoint.jpg.dea01cea48d8f2c1a988581cad5bc07f.jpg

What I also didn't include above was that when I took off the hand guard after noticing the bend at home, the barrel was pressing against the nut.  At first I thought it had bent the receiver threads so for safety sake (the upper receiver is easily replaceable) I cut off the nut, because it looked as though it would be digging into the barrel if I unthreaded it, or it could just be seized up (it didn't remove easily and I installed with only about 45 ft-lbs of torque).  I was hoping that it was the receiver and not the barrel that was bent.  When I got the nut off, that's when I noticed that the carbon fiber had kinked/dented or buckled at the point shown, which was right under the front edge of the nut.  The receiver is actually fine and I can mount other barrels onto it and they stay true.  If you look closely at the part indicated above...it's not a cut or gash...it's like a fold or kink.  Like imagine if you start to bend a cardboard paper towel core....it will start with a kink in the side as it 'fails'.

So maybe a) it was a blow/impact that applied enough lateral force on the barrel to bend it, or b) perhaps not enough weight/force to cause a permanent bend, but enough to dent/kink the carbon fiber support...weakening and buckling it at that point so the the barrel's pre-existing tension pulls more on one side, causing the warp.

Anyway, I'll be sending the barrel into Taccom at the end of the week to see if it can be repaired.  If not then chest la vie, it's gone and I can relish in my memories of our short time together.  😢

Good diagram and that makes it a lot clearer with it resting on muzzle. And where red arrow is, is the spot I would have thought would bend, where in pics it looks to be several inches higher.

But your explanation of threads/nut seems to confirm your illustration.

Hope you get it all fixed up. Never seen that before!

i got a dd mk18 pistol and as a package it is amazing and accurate. I don't see the need for a stamp and a regular stock, a brace is fine. Super fun and loud, fast  and i am comfortable out to 300 with it, but as mentioned much better under 200. I am really impressed by DD.

Until you bring it to a rifle/multigun match and they say "no pistols allowed at rifle match".
