  1. I have been a member for a little bit, but not sure if I ever introduced myself, plus its always good to re-up. I work for Applied Ballistics and I am here as a means to ask questions. If you ever need help with something send me a message or an email! I will try my best to help you.
  2. I just wanted to chime in here. I am going to go through this and try to help out where I can. But from what I have read so far I would like to address a couple of things. I would first like to recommend reading Bryan Litz's books on long range shooting. But I would also like to address that part of it is number of rounds sent down range. When you are not paying for the rounds, you tend to practice more. Simple truth is, before we went to Iraq (I was a corpsman, but I know plenty of snipers) we put thousands of rounds down range over the course of months in preparation. Then again in country. So for one, its muscle memory, and firing so often you don't loose it as much as you do when your having to pay for the ammo, and time out of your own pocket. As far as the discussion goes, 6.5 with Berger 140s are incredible rounds. The new book is coming out with the data on them as well, if anyone is interested. Also the new curves are being released around December 1st.
  3. Hey, this may seem like a re-post, but I thought this would be a good section to address it. I work for Applied Ballistics and if anyone here ever has an issue, a question, or just needs help with one of our systems please don't hesitate to contact me. I am here to address any questions that might come up, be it ballistics related or not. I look forward to our conversations! doc.beech@appliedballisticsllc.com
  4. you have a record showing 2980 out of the nordic barrel correct? sorry for the slow response. Yes, it is the nordic 18" barrel. what are yall using for bc in the calculators... i have found two different bc figures on the internet... You can use our BC numbers. Either our G7 numbers, or the Litz Curves. We are pushing the new set on December 1st, and the new book with data on over 400 rounds will release before christmas. We have a ballistic calculator on the site (It wont let me push a link yet but Applied Ballistics LLC is the site) or you can use the app.
  5. The Bryan Litz collection of books at Applied Ballistics is hands down some of the best reading around. And to note that, he has a holiday sale going on right now too.
  6. Hello, and let me introduce myself. I am Doc from Applied Ballistics. I am coming to this forums for two reasons. The first is to get more involved in competition shooting. Most of what I have done has involved friendly matches. That and my experience in the military, which of course plenty of times led to friendly competition. I plan to change that next year, and get more serious with competition shooting. The second part is help out where I can. I am hoping to provide my expertise with long range shooting, and ballistics in a learning manner. If you ever have any questions please feel free to ask me. This include both email, and PM if you don't feel comfortable asking it in the open. If you ever run in to trouble with our software, apps, or devices like the Kestrel please dont hesitate to ask for assistance. Thats what I am here for. I really look forward to working with you guys, and learning with y'all. See you on the range. (I denied me including my email but it can be found on the Applied Ballistics website. I will add it to a signature once the system allows me.)
