Broncman, I was under the impression conversion barrels are illegal in both Production and Carry Optics divisions.

From the USPSA Rules book, Production and CO division, " USPSA.Current rules remain in effect - you may replace the barrel with an OFM or aftermarket barrel which is of the same length, contour and caliber as the original barrel for that model of gun." I am not sure if that rule has been changed.

If I am incorrect, I have a 5.25 Xdm in .40 I would love to shoot in CO with 9MM. I am trying it in .40 to see if I like the division, but getting a .40 to shoot like a 9 is rather difficult, plus you lose 2-3 rounds in the mag, which really is not that big a deal.

What I think most will agree with here is that the first thing to do in a new XDm is to replace the trigger with Springer Precision aftermarket kit from Brownells. Makes a huge difference. One really fun aspect of the XDm is you can buy a rear sight replacement CO mount from Springer and can shoot CO without milling the slide. I am not sure if the same option applies for CZ.

I was just looking at dovetail mounts for CZ Shadow and SP-01 at Springer.  My Shadow currently serves as backup for my SP-01 Accu-Shadow in production division, but I'm thinking of getting the dovetail mounts for both the Shadow and my XDM 5.25 to try out CO.

Thanks RIIID. I'm aware about TG, but can't do much about it. In PR we are required to apply for an explosives license and powder is sold by a couple of LGS.
I'm trying bayou, BBI and RMR.
    Any recommendations?

I've used BBI and Blue Bullets extensively (with TG) with good results.  I clean pretty regularly so dirty is not a problem for me.

18 lb. is the stock spring weight.  If you are running the 147's on a soft load, it's ok to run the 14 lb. spring.  If you move down in bullet weight to 124 or 125 gr. to minor power factor, go ahead and move your spring weight up to the 16 lb.

What would you think about the 14# spring with 135gr at 130-132pf?

It came with the gun (CZ 75 CTS) , after working with a different CZ 75 with stock mag release I prefer the latter. Will go to stock as soon as I get courageous enough to remove the stupid staked in screw that holds things together on that gun.

I've had the same problem with the TS.  I had to work on my grip a bunch, and I filed down the rear half of the button as well.

They aren't being classified "against other PCC shooters".  They are being classified against an objective standard that was created for people shooting Open handguns.  That's a actually a problem, because is it very easy to get a 100% score on certain classifiers (many of the Fixed Time classifiers that are incredibly difficult with a handgun are simple with a PCC, and anything WHO and SHO is much easier with a PCC), while at the same time, there are a number of classifiers in which it is ridiculously difficult to get even close to a good score (which set of classifiers normally include reloads, which are simply slower in PCC than in Open).

This isn't an argument against PCC in the slightest---there simply needs to be enough PCC classifier data to get their own set of HHF.  Since that doesn't exist yet, USPSA is using Open HFFs, and some people are achieving abnormally high runs (compared to their other classifications) due to the choice of classifier by their match directors.  I'm not saying it is happening often...but it is certainly true that if a PCC person ended up shooting these classifiers in a row:

    99-14

    06-07

    99-47

    99-40

    08-05

    08-06

    13-03

    99-02

....they would probably have a PCC classification that was significantly higher than their handgun classification.

We simply need more data to get a good set of PCC HHFs.

At no point is this an argument against PCC.  Far as I can tell, it is a growing division that people are truly enjoying shooting.

    I stand corrected.

He gave me the points scored (I assumed they're both shooting major, if he was shooting minor it would have a marginal impact because he shot 116 As out of 120 shots; if the other guy beat him shooting minor he would have had an outrageously low time):  596 vs 538, he gave me the difference in time:  5.53 seconds, and he said he was beaten, so:

    596/X < 538/(X-5.3)

    Solve for X:

    X (Gray's overall time) < 56.83 seconds

Therefore Grays hit factor was greater than 10.48 (forgive me for my rough estimate above)

Minor scoring would have only changed his score by 0.6%

So like I said above, 116 As and, 2 Bs and 2 Cs in under 56.83 seconds is pretty incredible for a first match!

And some of think we'll never have a use for that algebra class...

  7. I have a hard time believing that anyone shooting handguns no better than B or C is going to have the skills to classify M or GM with a PCC, since they're being classified against other PCC shooters.  Maybe an occasional individual case, but seems likely to be a rare thing to me.

I always recommend people shoot limited when they show up to their first match with their 'run what you brung' gear even if they're shooting a minor caliber. There are fewer restrictions that you have to worry about and you're, more than likely, going to have enough on your plate trying to adjust to the new rules and all of the recommendations your squad mates will throw out at you throughout the match.

As for 'looking stupid,' don't worry about it. No one else at these matches seem to. Have fun, shoot safe and try to learn something.

We generally recommend that same thing (shoot limited) to newcomers.  Less concern with reloads and all that.  We try to make sure the RO knows they're new and make sure they don't end up shooting first on a stage.

Shipping is what gets me everytime I look at buying targets.  Really need to buy in bulk to dive the price down.

I bought some of the 2/3 scale targets from Dawson's and the shipping is free.  Side benefit of practicing on 2/3 scale targets is they make the real thing look huge at a match.

Nothing there says how many you get for the price.  Can you say how many?

A competitor that was not scoring or running the clock told shooters:

"You F..ing  A**holes that are walking the stage, instead of walking the stage Go F...  tape some targets"

Would this be viewed as disruptive and should this person get a procedural for Unsportsmanlike conduct?

    ADDED 12/20/16 9:45AM  - Additional Information:
The person with the temper was not the next shooter.

It was said to a few shooters that were directed NOT to tape by the ROs as the scoring device was temporarily inoperable.

This person was not acting as an RO and regularly does this type of thing.

Many new shooters have left the range and refuse to come back due to it.

There have been numerous complaints about this person regarding the same issue.

Some of what the OP added later does not seem to be getting noticed.  He said this to shooters directed NOT to tape etc.  New shooters don't want to come back and there have been numerous complaints.  I'm totally down with letting people know when they're slacking, but this guy seems to be at least a little over the top and there ought to be some boundaries here.  I don't need that kind of foul-mouthed jerk turning the atmosphere sour for everybody. A word from the ROs, or the CRO or the RM or the MD (somebody) is reasonable.  I don't think the rules justify a procedural.

I never load any mag with more than 10. I make ready with 2 magazines just like other divisions.

I do the same.  Put a round in the chamber with 4th mag in production, then replace that with 5th mag.  Never have a mag with more than 10 so bad thing can't happen.

As for "harsh," maybe.  That translates into serious incentive to comply with the rules.

How do the Blacks 135 compare the the Blues 135?

Haven't tried the blue 135s.  The blacks worked just fine.  I went and tried the blue 180s because I was having trouble with my .40 rounds.  Bullets didn't seem to sit consistently in the case and I was having feed problems.  It might not have the bullets TBH.  I changed a few other things to fix the problem.  I just stuck with the blues.
