  1. They're cheap guns/slides, factory threaded versions, comps made for them.

Factory frame for carry, heavy for just shooting or comps, wouldnt mind for a suppressor host.

At the risk of annoying jcc7X7, since it's NOT a direct answer to your question     …..     ?

Seems to me that a $938 ACOG (that you flagged) is probably built tough enough

for just about anything (the ad you listed says that it is, anyway).

Sorry, can't help with the RTV components or bullet proofing a scope, but sounds

like ACOG has already done that for you.     :)

He didn't flag an Acog that's just the forum advertising software at work.  Acog isn't a red dot.

That's true, but at least a premium 2011 is a one off build just for you. Not an off the shelf pistol.

Some are sure but seems people don't see that as a big problem.  Lots of people have been buying $5500 Atlas Nemesis in one configuration off the shelf.

@Garmil Keep us posted on the Athlon.

Mounted mine up today.  It's surprisingly nice for the price. At full MSRP I think a PST gen 2 beats it. At the sub $300 price it's definitely nicer than a strike eagle.

Glass is decent, true 1x and a pretty flat image.

    Dot is not daylight bright.

Eye box is good not great.

Turrets are the best I've felt for a made in China scope nice tactile clicks.

Atsr1 reticle looks good in person the small dots are just big enough to see well and not cover much of the target. The open sections to bracket with I'm not used to but should work fine.

Does not come with any type of caps or a battery.

  5. I've had both and both worked fine.  Frame mounted is easier to track and better for the application. Slide mounted is only a plus for a gun that you are wanting to use multiple slides or remove the dot and run sights at some point.

Did you go with four holes for the potential of a frame mounted optic? Or just for more adjustments to the *thumb rest [generic]*?

That's just what they do when you order a thumbrest, I assume for both reasons.

It won't be cheap. From what I hear, it will be priced like a GOOD 2011 (as opposed to cheap 2011).

It might be very good indeed. Hope there's some in real people's hands early next year - and we get more experience and feedback on what it is really like.

I don't buy that.  Even GOOD 2011 parts aren't that expensive and you're paying thousands for labor.  The design of this should not require anywhere near as much work by hand.

This thread makes me curious to see what a *thumb rest [generic]* on my TS would be like.  I am on the right side of the spectrum when it comes to recoil control, but I wonder if the *thumb rest [generic]* might give a little help and a tactile reminder for the times I'm forgetting to hold on tight. I don't think they are necessary at all with a good grip,  but my match videos show that my grip pressure is inconsistent throughout a stage.

I'm in the same boat. I did my own grip reduction, sent it to them for the thumb rest and black nitride should be back soon.
