  1. Me and a few friends are looking to buy a large amount of primers (six figure range). What dealer would give up a good break on an order this large?

    -Lonnie

In what part of the country? Depending where you're at, you might get others to join in as well.

  2. According to my read of the USPSA version of the rifle & shotgun rules, this is legal, unless you handle the magazines or ammunition.

    Troy

Thanks Troy. That was my read on it also. Haven't actually seen the situation come up yet, but I just put a RASE buttstock on my AR and it got me thinking.

    Bill

Have wondered that myself. Particularly the sidesaddle on a shotgun. Anxious to hear.

  3. I think this has already been mentioned (haven't gone back to reread the entire thread), and I'm sure you guys have already done it, but it worked for me.

I was getting the occasional crushed or missing primer, I found that by tightening the shell plate (for minimal case wiggle) and really tightening up the white plastic piece that holds the case firmly in the shell plate (the thing that is where the locator buttons normally are), I almost completely eliminated my priming problems.

    Hope this helps someone.

That's usually worked for me as well. I have a 1050, not a super 1050. I have less problems with pistol priming than I do with LC brass in 223.

  4. Ira, it isn't the spring. The seating stem bottoms out against the top adjustment knob setting seating depth rather than the spring. The spring just pushes the stem down so that it can engage the bullet as it is aligned with the case.

Did you open a new box of bullets? The CSD seats off the ogive, not the end of the bullet. A new lot of bullets with a slightly different ogive profile will make a 5 thou change in OAL easily.

I was surprised at the difference in ogive (from box to box) on my SRA 69 223. This die makes it much easier to tweak the oal back to specs.

  5. So even with the longer pin, if your hammer doesn't have the j-pin in it what keeps it from Walking out?

How many people would be interested in a run of long hammer pins meant to be used with C-clips to hold them in place? A friend of ours is storing his lathe at our shop, and he's looking for projects.

    Russell,

    Any idea on cost?

    Thanks.

  6. Yep. I've done that.

I keep waiting for someone to invent the portable "DON'T DO THAT. YOU'RE ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING REALLY STUPID!" audible alarm. I'd be glad to test the beta version, based on my extensive background in stupid things.

  7. I spoke with a gentleman thats works in Ohio at the Local Walmart Supercenter. He stated that the store, that this particular stores sells more guns than something like 20 other stores in the Area or district combined. He was told that they were going to stop selling guns and he couldn't understand because they made so much money from it. He said that particular day he had sold completely out of 2 models of shotguns, something like 5 guns and had sold another 5 guns on top of that. I was at the store about noon. I'll have to stop out and talk to him again. Are they trying to hide what they are really doing???

Corporations also often make decisions that apply to regional areas, for consistencies sake. It's possible, that while that particular store makes money on firearms, that they'll have to stop anyway, because the other 19 stores in the same area aren't selling any. Those decisions are usually reached to make it easier for other parts of the company to have only one set of policies or one product flow that meets all stores needs.....

Probably the case here. Most everything with them is sales/margin per square foot. For a Regional Manager, it's easier to manage by exception if every store is stocked the same.

  8. This is exactly why I think the whole match should be based on total time plus penalties. It would be much easier on stats people as well.

Actually, I agree it should be time + penalties, but there seems to be a large number of people that want it to be based on a percentage of the stage winner's score to de-emphasize the importance of long range shooting. My proposed scoring system would be a compromise, even if it is a headache for stats. Besides, that's what scoring programs are for.

    Makes sense to me, MP5.

  9. Yes epoxy resin.

A length of pvc drain pipe fits nicely inside the tecloader then sleeve it and make sure you make the outside rough. One of the guys here drills holes in his. I just hacked mine up with a kitchen knife to give it purchase. smear the epoxy on then slip the sleeve over.

You will need to grind out a slit for the handle to travel along of course.

Ill see if I can get a piccy up.

Richard, did you try the "self contained" pvc tubes? If so, any luck?

  10. I did a lengthy experiment to nail down oal variances last year involving measuring bullets with the seating stem resting on the bullet (the stem was removed from the die) and found that ogilve was the culprit. There was a major difference in manufacturers.

    Bronson7

That's the most common cause I've heard. The other causes listed above make sense as well.
