Ah... well perhaps a road trip to Ohio or PA is in order (I'm in Rochester). I wouldn't ever conceive of heading to Ontario ;-p

Very new and inexperienced here but being a resident of Upstate New York, I am wondering what accommodations NYS residents have to do in order to have a competitive 3-gun arsenal? I think I've seen some competitions listed for Pine Hill down in the Southern Tier... are there many matches run in NYS at all? And do out of state competitors have to buy SAFE act compliant gear just to compete in NYS?

I'd like to get into it, at the shotgun-only level to start, but wondering how viable it is as a sport in the Empire State?

Do people run longer shotgun extensions and then only load the legal amount? Or is that a no-no?

And I'm wondering if such a thing as practical shotgun training and matches even exist in Western New York? All I find are clays, not even a range to practice on.

In any event I'm coming from an air pistol and 22 rifle target shooting background ~ Just got a Beretta 1301 Comp 12-ga last week and have been having a literal "blast" with it ;-p I'm still quite a ways from being ready to shoot 3-gun but I'd love to try something other than trap.
