Is the PX9mm the new Gen 3 you have said is the best?

Yes. If you can tell by looking, the lower looks different than the Gen 2. Here is one with the SOB brace: http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-px9mm-billet-complete-classic-pistol-lower-with-sob-brace-uses-glockr-516447191sob.html

I have several folks running them with great success. I just converted Ron Oliver over a few weeks ago. He was running the GX-9 Limited Edition like pictured above.

My friend is at SHOT.  He stopped by the PSA booth and asked to see the gen 3 Glock lower.  This is what the guy showed him, that looks like a gen 2 lower not what is shown in the pic above.  Can you clarify?

    Thanks

That is the GX-9. Not the G3. That's the Gen 2 lower.

  3.  Whether you are purchasing one new or own one that you need help with, you can use this to help you identify PSA's most popular components. For instance, troubleshooting an ejection issue on a billet is a little different than the forged, etc. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Because the DNROI and BoD said so. I fought against it and lost.

The DNROI and BoD made a bad call on this one. It makes absolutely zero sense, at all, to flag and bag. I finally found my gripe...

  5. Yes. The base of the mag is more rearward. I helped an old shooting buddy put one together this weekend and it ran flawless the first time around. We only shot a few 100 times though. He will run it pretty hard and keep me filled in.

Can you leak any info on what is different with the GX-9 lower versus the current PX9 lower?

The GX-9 lower will be made in-house with new tooling. The biggest change was that the magazine is angled more forward to assist with feeding issues. The barrel will remain pretty much the same post the "PCC Chamber" marking but will have a little more chamfer with a reduction in sharp angles. The bolt will change to a solid 1 piece design to eliminate gas key breakage and the extractor and firing pin are tool steel. The ramp on the bolt was modified to use more aftermarket triggers and will have a removable center weight that works with most captured recoil systems. The uppers will be mostly slick sides with a custom profile that blends into the handguard very nicely.  You can see this on some of the newer uppers that have come out recently. I had a lot of input with the engineers on this one. As a competitor myself, I understand peoples frustrations and shared that with the team. For an inexpensive option into the PCC game, this one should do it. We tried to improve everywhere we could.

There are also some plans on doing some higher end builds as joint ventures with folks like LeadStar in both 9mm and 5.56. We had a great release of an LSA-9 earlier this year so you will see more of those coming soon too. The more I actively engage with customers at matches, the more info I can bring back to the team. I really enjoy it.

The big issue is making sure all of the aftermarket stuff works together. It's almost impossible. If the industry could get in a room and formalize a game plan, life would be better for everyone. Even at the high end of the spectrum I have heard stories where some parts didn't work. Folks assume that you can buy any part from any company and it will work similar to the traditional AR platform and quite frankly, they don't.

  7. I guess I need to go read it so I can fuss about something.

Way back around page 4 I thought I had an opportunity when I saw no comps in PCCI. I looked it up and saw where it changed to allow them.

Hold on, I'll find something I'm sure.

  8. I am with you guys on the light gun issue. I don't get it. For some I guess it works but keep mine in the 6 ballpark. I played with one of these at the show the other day. Its a pretty neat setup. It did feel heavy for what it is but like others mentioned, its about the same as other PCC's. The takedown locks really well. It is a similar design to the 10/22. I thought it would be a neat PCCI Steel Challenge gun but I'm not sure I would run it in Open if I had a choice. Once people start making aftermarket parts for it, it may pick up. It would be neat to see Magpul make some furniture for it and include a pistol grip and a adjustable stock.

  9. Depends on price. The new PSA GX-9 lower and the Gen 3 uppers (release after SHOT) are solid and can be had for about $750. If you want higher end, I am a huge LeadStar Arms fan. I would definitely check them out and if you decide on one, let me know and I will shoot you a discount code.

  10. I have one on my PCCO, PCCI (Steel Challenge) and a gun I built for USPSA.  It allowed me to bring the gun further up than a traditional stock which gives me a more natural point of aim. It also sticks a little better in the pocket of my shoulder and added some weight to the rear. I guess I am odd as I haven't bought into the lightest PCC possible idea and prefer a nice balanced rifle over one that weighs 4 pounds. The rear weight helped balance the gun out. I prefer a heavier profile barrel that helps eliminate dot bounce (at least in my opinion anyway). The Fang offset the weight in the front for me. Its not terribly heavy but it was enough to distribute the weight better.

Con: It's slick. I had to add clear grip tape to the rear of it so that it would not slip.

The offset. I was an earlier adopter and loved them. That is until I basically retrained myself to not look over the centerline of the rifle which killed me when I started PCCI. What would be cool is to use it as an offset to a traditional site for left handed shots. Again, that was my experience and yours may vary. I shoot several other rifles and didn't want to get in the habit (which happened) of always positioning my head to look through the offset vs a more traditional position. Pics below. The black one has one now. I had one on order and it just arrived.

  11. The new PX9 PSA lower is pretty solid. It's being machined in house. The magazine angle was modified and they are a lot tighter than the PA9 lowers were. If you want to spend more, do not rule out the LeadStar solid or skeletonized lowers or receiver sets. The integrated feed ramp and LRBHO puts it at the top of the pack IMO.
