  1. I have an STI Apeiro that I love to shoot USPSA with. Last week I was out at the range practicing, put a loaded mag in, closed the slide, pulled the trigger, and click nothing happened. Tap, rack, click...nothing happened again. Pulled the hammer back and BANG!

The hammer is not locking back when cocked -- it falls immediately. Made for some exciting trouble-shooting.

    Two questions:

    1) What happened, what's going wrong? :)

    2) I've called STI and left a couple of messages, but no response yet. Anyone have pro-tips for getting ahold of them?

    Thanks,

    Matt

  2. I have an STI Eagle 5.0 bushing barrel in 9MM. <2000 rounds through the pistol. The gun has worked flawlessly...until recently. Now, each time the gun cycles, the unfired round's nose gets pushed up too far vertically, and the gun jams with the unfired round pointed up vertically and not in the chamber. Happens on every round. Rack the slide to eject the failed round, and the next round feeds into the chamber appropriately. Fire that round, and the next round jams vertically.

    Pistol issue? Mag issue?

    Halp.

    Thanks!

    Matt

  3. Looks like a great gun for 3gun.

SV is on the CA Handgun Roster, so the only thing it's saving is some time for the build. It has an AET barrel so that makes it worth less to me since I shoot coated bullets. It may only have 2-300 rounds through it but this guy is the 2nd owner, so I don't know where he's getting a $6k reserve price from.

The SVI on the kommiefornia list is only in.45, so this exact pistol isn't easily available. I suspect someone will pay the reserve or more?

Any SVI can be purchased in California - SVI will sell you a .45, which you can legally DRoS in California, and then you send it back to them and they'll convert it to whatever you want.

  4. I asked Stuart at CZ Custom to modify a stock SP-01 into a Waffen Oschatz clone.

    Here's the finished product:

I highly recommend CZ Custom. This is the second firearm I've had them modify and I haven't been disappointed yet.
  5. I have all three.

The accushadow is ready to go, out of the box - just find a girp that fits your hand well. I have relatively large hands...so I have always preferred the hand-feel of the large-frame S2/S3, until I found the Nill Grips (and put them on my accu).

I had my S2 and S3 internals polished etc by Jim Jones. The work is awesome but the trigger on the S2/S3 has a much longer pre-travel than the accu. I assume the longer pre-travel is due to the S2/S3 having firing pin blocks (to be production legal).

I have found the accushadow to be more accurate than the S2 (probably that hand-fit bushing that does it) - though I don't have enough comparison shots on the S3 to speak to that one's accuracy. The S3's finish is the least durable. Though I agree with Atlas that the Tanfos look both look better than the accu.

Interested to hear other people's thoughts. Good luck!

  6. The S2 feels the best in my hand, and I feel like I maneuver it the best.

The slightly longer sight radius on the lim pro and the S3 both mean that it's easier for me to make 'A' hits on longer distance shots than the S2 (small amounts of data weakly support this conclusion).

The S3 is front-heavy enough that I feel little muzzle flip, but it's also slower to maneuver than the lim pro or S2.

My personal preference is for S2 then S3, then lim pro. But I could see anyone else preferring them in any order. But I'm a mediocre USPSA shooter, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt :)
