  1. Okay, I need help from all you sharp, smart marksman out there. Sorry if this is wordy but I want to be as accurate as possible. I have three AR-15s that I primarily use. They are: a JP 18 with a Leupold Mark VX 1-6 multigun with AR gold trigger; a JP 16 with vortex razor HD Gen II with a AR gold trigger; and a 16 Daniel Defense with a Leupold Mark 6 1-6 and a Timney trigger. I have never zeroed any of these at a true 200 yard target, always approximated by utilizing a 50 yard zero.

Well, this awesome range opened up near where I live, CMP of Talladega with an electronic target system with targets at 200, 300 and 600 yards. I shot my JP 16 first and a got a grouping of 29.9mm at 200 hundred, which 1.177 inches or 0.589 @ 100 yards (pic below for all rifles). I then shot my 18 JP with a grouping of 37.6mm @ 200 or 1.48 giving me 0.74 @ 100 yds. Now to the Daniel Defense. All these rifles are suppose to be MOA or better. Obviously the JPs performed great, especially since I have no idea what I am doing. But the best I could do with the DD was 255.4mm or 10.06 @ 200 yds or 5.03 @ 100 yds. I just dont get it. Is it possible the triggers could make that much of a difference? The JPs are approx. 2-2.5 lb pull and the timney is more like 3.5+ lb. I know it is a difficult question given all the possible variables but any advice or input would be appreciated. One more detail; all the rifles have approx 1000 rounds through them.

  2. Lol. I too love a good debate and I actually forgot about the site tracker part for the Apeiro, so touché my friend. Lol. Although some say it is more hype than true performance enhancement. With that said I have a new 6" site tracker coming, from Hayes Custom Guns ( little plug there for my boys at HCG) and I can't wait. I have several STI's and so far I LOVE the DVC. Most easy, accurate shooting gun I have. I squeeze the heck out of a gun but haven't had an issue yet. If nothing else the side slide cut helps me keep the pistol flat and maintain control. Just like a thumb paddle. Sure there are a couple of things I wish were better/different but overall for a semi-custom out of the box competition gun....solid A rating. Would love to try an Apeiro and really compare the two.

  3. This is funny to read all this. Seems the discussions are driven by emotion and not facts and data. So let me try to be unbiased. For the record I have never even had an Apeiro in my hand and I just got my DVC less than 6 hours ago. The Apeiro might be $200 or so less but look at the extras the DVC has that would cost quite a bit to duplicate on the Apeiro such as: double undercut trigger guard, slide cuts (performance improving depending on who you ask), agressive grip stippling, toolless guiderod (Apeiro might have this as well),barrel (not just for bling but supposedly is abrasive resistant with extra lubricity properties), etc. This is just a few items that would be extra cost if you had it done to the Apeiro. Now for the negative of the DVC. The slide doesn't seem as smooth as all custom pistol I have, I don't think it is a true 2 lb. trigger (more like 2.5+ but I don't have guage), and that's about all the negative. The dust cover has some recess cuts that can actually be used as a place to put your thumb to gain better recoil control. I put approx 60 rounds through the DVC so far and it is dead on accurate. Love it so far but I will say you are probably better off putting your money into a true custom pistol built by a reputable gunsmith. Please remember all this is simply MHO. I will keep everyone updated. I have a 3 gun comp this weekend and will run the DVC so it should be put ton the test. Great conversation though, pretty cool.

  4. I just bought a DVC 9mm off gunbroker for what I think is a good deal based on what I have seen them going for lately. Someone has one listed now for a "Buy Now" price of $4500 and a starting bid of $3500. I got mine for WAY less.

Also I read above where there were some reliability issues...just shoot day one a 3 gun comp in West Virginia with a pro who shoots one and he stated he has 4500 rounds through his and has NOT cleaned it at all. He has had 4 malfunctions out of 4500 and he stated that was due to ammo, not the gun. He let me look at and dry fire it. Sweet trigger and he hasn't cleaned it. Lol. Can't wait to get mine, should be here Thursday.

  5. AustinWolv,

What hanger is that you are using on the new model GLS? I finally got mine and made the mod's but it is to close to my body making a little more difficult to draw. I need it farther away like yours. By the way - they accidentally sent me the long version and I actually like it better.

  6. I was shooting with buddy and he has a sight tracker barrel and the slide locked up. After getting the thing apart there two cracks starting at the island on both sides goion toward the feed end. I am getting a sight tracker and wanted to know if this is common and I have something to worry about?
