Zactly. I cast bullets and see far more blemished then you will ever see on jacketed bullets and all mine fly true.

The balance of my order has now been delivered. I spent Thursday night un-boxing and mounting the press. And actually got a chance to run off a box of 45ACP. Yes, one box. I wanted to do a caliber conversion to .223 and get set up for a few hundred of those. I had zero issues right out of the box loading the .45's. The only thing that I noticed that was not kosher is the powder measure and static with Bullseye like powder. residual grains would not empty making it necessary to disassemble the unit before change to a different powder. I have loaded for close to 35 years on an RCBS Rock Chucker so all of my die sets are on RCBS flavor except the carbide .223 from Dillon. I did not find the seat crimp die to be problematic in any way and having the 3rd station open was kind of nice for powder inspection and bullet placement. Cant wait til summer!

My press arrived Saturday while I was out bow hunting. I arrowed 2 buck so I have been too busy to even open the shipping box as of yet. I also just received confirmation that my component order has been completed so till that comes in all I would be able to do is look at it anyway and that would be pushing unbearable.

I remember when the green machine was introduced, I wanted a progressive right then. It has taken til now for that to come to fruition. Distractions, priorities and the rut being what they are.Starting to get impatient. It's been 4 days now. And I am still waiting. Waiting for my component order as well.

I never have on straight wall carbide dies. Only on bottle neck rifle dies. Lately I have been tumbling with the addition of a dryer sheet. Cases come out polished and slick.

It is the beginning of efficiency and volume I agree. For 35 years all of my volume reloading has been done on a Rock Chucker. Loading up 1000 rds of .223 in a few hours has never even been a dream let alone a possibility. Oh, and by the way, I did get 5k primers, along with 12 lbs powder and 6k 55 gr soft points. Its a start.

Finally. Placed an order late last night for an rl550. And thanks to some great leads from this forum, I have a couple of shopping carts of components just waiting for confirmation.

An excellent point and considering the hazmat/shipping charge, group bulk purchases make the most $$$ sense. I'm pretty active in local competition (most reload), so getting together a few people isn't difficult (most of the time). I keep in touch with a lot of shooters, and people who reload..... a pretty vast network now Most are great, and always willing to help in a pinch (during the height of our recent components shortage I paid it forward and hooked a few people up with powder at cost +shipping/hazmat). ~g I agree and will try to get something of the sort set up. This time around though I am going it alone. 10 lbs powder 3k primers 2 k bullets and some. Just anxious

That's what I am going to do. Email used to be so f-in simple. now it has become such a pain in the arss since it is no longer included with the standard OS.

i have probably created an order on his site a dozen times before and the actual order never materialized. And before you just mentioned it I had a wishlist running on DP's site. And now, on Brian Enos, at least a best effort of one. I dont know what it is about generating an order on his site that seems to be so difficult. I suspect it is like when they came out the 1040ez tax form after I filed many years on the std 1040. There was nothing ez about the ez.. Maybe it was too simple for us intellects.

OK! things are looking a lot brighter now and with choices and not a lot of new reloading data as I have at my disposal Sierras second edition manual and Speers number 10. Anyone have any experiance with 748, Ramshot tac and H335 to make comparisons with. I really liked 748 for metering and with the idea of going progressive it still makes sense but I am open minded to alternatives. I have heard good things about the other two. No data for TAC so I am curious if it is worth considering and getting new books that include it as a choice.

When I first started reloading, I seriously overpaid for my first round of components because I wanted to get started quickly. I then had the luxury to wait for better prices and stock up. If you do the math, even if you overpay ~$10/pound of powder, the price per round differential is really not that much. A lot cheaper than factory ammo prices Yep, Agree. I have been reloading since "80" when I bought 1000 primers and a lb of powder for under 20.00. Shooting for a buck went a lot further in those days.

Sorry, wrong location. mods please move to proper forum, thx Been away for awhile so I am just getting reaquainted with reloading and its enviroment. I am once again so close to acquireing my 1st progressive press but I am stigmatized by ending up with a $1000.00 investment sitting idol. My issue as well as probably many others is the availability of components. I am not flushed with $$$ so it becomes a challenge to spend wisely and capitalize on volume components. Calibers to be reloaded are .223, 45 acp, 9mm, 40s&w. For all pistol apps, I have loaded 99% of all pistol ammo with Bullseye with some limited use of unique. Bullseye is prefered but seems to be a no-go. For .223, I can find WW748 (wanted to try ramsshot or h335 but both seem to be elusive) and wsr primers and very limited flavor of bullets. I have loaded .223 with cci400 in substitution for cci450 without any pressure issues. CCi acquisition is so far impossible for 400 or 450. As WW does not have magnum small rifle primers, I question their cross compatability with cci 400. I think I seen cci 400-450 on another site in qtys of 100 so if I want to stay with familiar components I am looking at 2-3 hazmat fees, I think not. Is everyone facing what I just described or is there a source of components that does not have 80% of everything out of stock? I am basically holding up an order for a rl550 for this very reason.

I have .223 reloaded from back in "82" and I just stored it in the original boxes it came in. I have moved from cold humid to hot humid climates and it has been stored without concern in those conditions. I fired some off as late as last summer and noticed no significant difference from the more recently loaded ammo.

Well, its somewhere between IN, WI, IA, MO and KY. OH, and lake michigan A Rock Chucker, beleive it or not. And its getting to be more like work. I have been considering a rl550 or the xl650 for some time now but with component availability being what it is, I am wearing cold feet.

Hey, Been a shooter and reloader since 1981. As a matter of fact, I have almost never been a shooter when I wasnt a reloader. I have loaded .38/.357, 44 mag 9mm 45 ACP, 30-30, .223. If all goes well I will be adding .308 to the list.
