I agree with Russell, what is the new division designed to do???
(1) If the argument is: "PO (or whatever the hell it's called now) will expand the sport and cause more people to come to matches". Then shouldn't we instead make a "carry division"? FAR more people have a concealable gun than a gun with a slide rider. A lot of those people also only go to indoor ranges where they can't practice 'practical shooting', so they would jump at the change to actually draw and reload!
(2) If the argument is: "people show up with odd things on their Glocks, like stippeling, holes drilled for optics, odd grips, or other "at home mods" and I don't want to make them shoot in open". Then shouldn't we focus on changing the production rules? (I know that's heresy, but there are some silly (in my opinion) rules).
(3) If the argument is: "people show up with slide rides on M&P's and I don't want to make them shoot against open guys because their $800 gun can't keep up with the $3k one". Then my answer is; every division is ruled by one or two guns at the major match level, and all of them are quite expensive. The new division will be no different. At the local match who cares??? Its for fun!
(4) if the argument is: "older people have a hard time seeing or may have bad wrists". Then my answer is there is a senior and Super senior tag already. DISCLAMER: I am a young college kid.
(5) if the argument is: "USPSA should be developing new techniques and technologies". Then I would say make the division as open as possible while still keeping it 'tacti-cool'.
(6) if the argument is: "I have a cool slide ride and I want to shoot it in a division." Then shoot open.

I know everyone does it differently.... I'm just looking for ideas to try new things.
So what is everyone using to lube their internals/slides?
P.S. If this is in the wrong area someone says so.

I wish they would do another Elite II run...

Has there ever been a discussion about adding a minimum trigger weight on any shot, not just the first, to production?
I get that the first shot rule puts DA/SA guns at a disadvantage, but is that a rule for the sake of having a rule or is it for safety/try to end the equipment race

Thanks for all the input guys!
Some more info. I already own a colt in .38 Super, and have changed some parts on it (With some guidance from a friend). I also work in a machine shop so I am no stranger to filing-measuring-repeat. -
I'v been wanting to build a 1911 so I can learn more about the platform and how it all works together. What's the cheapest way to do it and what tools am I going to need?
I don't really care about the quality of the parts, this is more of a learning thing. -
Thanks guys! But how do you test this if it happens infrequently? I can stop him on the stage, and we can test fire the gun, but if it doesn't happen then what do you do?
-
I was running a guy at our local match this weekend and it seemed like his G34 was double firing every tenth round or so. I'm not that familiar with the glock mechanics (or if he had an aftermarket guts). Can this happen with a Glock and whats the call?

We have run every kind of .22 though that I can think of. If you only put 7 rounds in the mag it works fine. But the first 3 don't line up with the chamber.

I am the captain of the Florida State University Pistol Team. We shoot 92s in competitions and last year bought (for way too much) a 22 conversion kit. The mag that came with it isn't very reliable. Now that the kits are back in production I wanted to know if it was worth buying mags at $40 a piece. Is there another option that will work? I found this online
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/7-M92210
I know the guns went boom but do the mags work? Will they fit into a real Beretta?
As a side note: Can anyone tell me how long these conversions are good for? We have 8 shooters on the team every semester should I pick up another conversion or just change out parts as need me?

Long slide 9x25.
For open?

My guess would be full size single stack
i.e. And XD(s) with a 5" barrel and full size grip
That would be kinda cool. I was thinking it was just a redo of the xd, different profile, texture, material, ect. (Maybe remove the grip safety).
Think we can get this tread to blow up enough for TGO to give us a teaser

I got this in an email from Springfield.
http://blog.springfield-armory.com/coming-soon
After you enter your email (I'm assuming for future promotions) it takes you to a page with the title "XDMod2".
Anyone know anything about this? Let the speculation and rumor-mill begin.

Short answer -- because IPSC is played in a whole bunch of countries without a Second Amendment, they are more politically correct and willing to appease.....
Whereas Americans are notoriously challenging, if not downright recalcitrant, have a healthy disdain for anyone who tries to tell them what to do, and are covered by there Second Amendment, as well as the remainder of the Bill of Rights.....
I don't see how the IPSC rules are more restrictive as to gun laws. There is still "Standard" and "Open" so mag capacity isn't a factor. In fact you can have more rounds in production.
Do other countries have their own sets of rules like USPSA?
I think the equipment is the easy part, the rules, stage designs, and exclusive use of the "classic" target would be more difficult to get used to.
Agreed.
-
Why do USPSA and IPSC not have the same rules for divisions?
Barrel length in production, standard vs limited, classic vs single stack. Seems like a lot to keep track of.

Well I know how much everyone loves to advertise for the smith, so I'd thought I'd give you all another opportunity!

I'm looking to switch off my Beretta 92, just don't like the ergonomics. Been seeing more and more people at the club with CZs, so I'm looking into one.
My question is which one! Sp01 Shadow, Shadow custom 14, Accu Shadow???
I will probably use it mostly for USPSA production.
Also who does good work on them, iv seen CZ custom and Cajun Gun works on the threads. Any one have thoughts on Akai (I live in FL)?
And where should I buy it from? Get it from one of these guys directly, or buy it local and then have the work done after a few months (when the bank account can handle it again :-) ).

+1 for Josh! He did the work on all eight of the FSU pistol team's guns and they came out amazing!
-
*Ears perk up* New Beretta?! For competition!? Maybe I will be getting that striker fired Beretta I'v always wanted.

on a 92 fs, can you take off the slide/barrel (the upper) from one frame and put it on another without fitting?
