  1. Dear fellow shooters,

Our host range is currently under attack by a few neighbors who wish to see us closed. This range has been in its current location for 30 years. All but one neighbor, by thier own admission, moved into the area after the range was formed. But as with all things political, the noisy wheel gets the grease.

Therefore I am asking you, if you are truely interested in supporting our range, to view the following page on our website.

    nwfloridadps.topcities.com/petition.htm

It contains contact information for the county board, a downloadable petition you can have friends and family sign and return to one of the listed drop off points as well as a link an online petition which will be presented to the county commissioners at their next meeting on March 17th. Please feel free to talk it up and link to it on any and all gun or political related forums you might visit.

Whether you are a member of Escambia River Muzzleloaders or a resident of Escambia County Florida does not matter, because it does effect all gun owners whenever a range is closed.

Your consideration and help is greatly appreciated.

    Steven Standley

  2. There are some assumptions here so bear with me.

The walkthroughs are scheduled at a known time for squads.

If you choose to linger in a "stop-n-chat", decide it is that precise moment you need to relive yourself, or any other myriad of excuses, then why should the briefing wait for you?

In order to run an orderly/timely match you have to move things along. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to be at the stage briefing.

We could I guess regress to grade school and have each squad hold onto that squads colored rope as the CRO leads them to the stage, has them all sit indian style on the ground, put on thier quite faces, and listen to the stage brief. after the brief then the kids can go play in the stage for awhile before naptime.

In my opinion your are given the same opportunity and time as everyone else in your squad. If you choose to use that time otherwise you made that choice and the match owes you nothing in the way of a reshoot (FLAMING GAMER) or a solo walkthrough.

Now if the CRO out of the goodness of his heart want to accomadate another walkthrough due to your arrogance (yes i view it that way because if it was important to you you would have been there with all the others) then so be it if it doesn't impact the next squad trying to come through or slow the match down..

  3. agree on both counts.. But they are such pretty holes LOL

When group shooting I do have to conciously force myself to not look at the group as I shoot.

If I don't I find myself worrying more abot where to put the next shot to improve the group han sight alingment and trigger control

(Sorry for the speklking erros I am lazy)

  4. But that .45 makes such nice big holes it draws your eyes to them :D

Maybe I can find a sheet of the self healing plastic stuff to hang infront of my cardboard backer. I fire the shots (self healing so no holes to look at) then afterwards check for my grouping on the back behind it.

Whatcha think a new target to market...?

My luck would be the next person posts a link to the item already being produced. Day late and Dollar short. I am going to have that engraved on my headstone.

  5. Love2shoot:

I did some searches here on peroxide and lead removal as well as some general searches on the web. Found an overwhelming number reccomending the process and 2 that decried its ill effects.

The 2 bascially describes that the mixture creates formic acid and the use of that would lead to pitting and stress cracks in the bbl. Pitting I could see if you left it in overnight but I specifically said 10mins max and to neutralize the remains. As for the stress cracks I don't see that. If there were stress in the BBL already the rifiling process or heat/cool cycle would be just as likely to show the cracks. You would have to pit the hell out of it to reduce the integrity of the steel to the point of cracking.

If you have other references on the evil practice I would like to see them. I am always for busting a myth or finding out the evil side of the coin.

  6. 50% hydrogen peroxide + 50% White Vinegar

    Let sit 5-10 mins

Push 5 or so patches through

    Rinse in hot water

If you want follow up with a soak in water and baking soda to neutralize and vinegar remains.

Then light oil patch down bore followed by dry.

As for lead and glock bbls... While Glock says not to and it voids any warranty...

I have shot hard lead 21-14 BHN with no problems at IPSC and IDPA velocities.

  7. Nsiess:

No problem let me know how the MPSA was like I might make a trip with you for Limited 10 once in a while.

Also... IF you ever want to just come shoot a match with us IDPA goons come on. We usually allow the shooter new to the discipline to shoot what they brought. Score doesn't count in the standings but you still shoot.

    PS>

IF we can get enough interested I am up for restarting a USPSA club in the area. The Pensacols range had one but it fell apart. Story I got (no first hand knowledge) goes one person started up the club. He did setup, match officiating, teardown, and running the club. Couldn't get anybody to help. They just wanted to show up pay thier fee and go home. Our IDPA group is the other side of the cion compared to that.

  8. Just an added note...

It is not unheard of for thieves to steal from gun matches. Here not long back the "Miami Massacre" where some FBI agents were killed along with the perps. The guns the perps had were for the most part stolen from gun ranges. Two (I think ) while a match was going on. In one instance they killed the owner and took his gun anyway... "COLD RANGE RULE" they had a loaded weapon and for safety sake the owner had an unloaded one.

    HOT RANGES RULE :D

  9. Hope to see ya at this Sat. match. It will be the classifier and while you can shoot it it won't count for classification unless your an IDPA member or decide to join at the match.

You can find the complete course of fire for the classifier at www.idpa.com. It is in the rule book starting on page 66 if I am not mistaken.

I to looked for a USPSA club and have not found one close enough. That is why I decided to start shooting IDPA.

  10. Not USPSA but there is a club in Pensacola that is shooting IDPA.
