  1. Ok so there are loads of handgun specific forus in the other sections,IDPA, Glock forum and all the other stuff, but as a pistol is 1 third of a 3 gun set up, how come there is no forum for it as a stand along topic.

Because this is were the question i wanted to post would go. Not sure it would fit anywhere else.

    Question is:

Does any one have any opinion on the Sig P226 as a 3 gun pistol? Its 9mm, cheaper to run, and could perform untold number of jobs in different settings, IDPA, Production, Limited, L-10, Carry gun (Only a 4.4 inch barrel.) 3 gun. Any experiences Good or Bad. ;)

If you had to buy one gun to do it all, would you put this on the list.???

  2. Ok so i am going to the RM3G for the first time all the way from England, and wanted some opinions on what type is best. I know at the end of the day it all comes down to persoal prefference, but ive got one of these airsoft pistols, and want to try and build as much muscle memory as possible. :D

Trouble is i dont see many shooters using thigh rigs in 3 gun. Not the top guys anyway.

    Why is this.??

Dont want to give my self the wrong prep work, if thigh rigs are a no no. ;)

I ve always used a paddle type in the past, but the thigh option looks so much more comfortable. :D

And no i dont use the C. A. R method of shooting :P:P:P;)

    Can anyone Advise. B)

  3. Sgt

Yes my barrel is threaded on the outside, come with a thread protecter like you describe.

Im going to try an old remy cut down spring in mine and see if it makes life any easier with the reloads.

I have seen the chokes for it at AGR.com give them a try if you need replacment parts, thay seem to have a great deal of Fabarm bits and bobs.

    Regards

    Ian.

  4. Sgt....

After much trial and error, then some research, I decided on the HK Fabarm FP6 pump. This will be for the HM division.

    What I liked:

    20" barrel.

    Adjustable Ghost Ring fiber-optic sights.

Weaver rail. (if you are interested in optics)

    Extra large safety button.

7+1 capacity with the Choate extension.

Short stock with Pistol grip. Makes for faster handling and weakhand reloads.

Bolt unlocks just like the Winchester 1300.

    Very easy disassembly.

    Very nice recoil pad.

    What I don't like:

Barrel is threaded on the outside for a compensator, and I don't know where to find aftermarket chokes.

I would like to have had one more round capacity.

Two hundred rounds so far and I have no complaints. I have not shot slugs or Buckshot through it yet. The actions is very smooth and the gun seems to built very well.

I Have an FP6. 24'' barrel, external choke tubes(ALL 4 CAME WITH GUN) Choate mage tube extension 8+1.

My action is very smooth, but i am still going to take the dremel to it and see if can make it even better. Have you done anything to yours, internally??? and can you get any aftermarket bits for them??? Or did you by it as you listed it.

The mag spring that came with the extension tube seems VERY tight and makes it hard to do weak hand reloads.

    Any info greatfully received.

    Ian.

  5. This BPS toy looks very tasty indeed.

    I must have one. B)

It must be very similer to a mossberg, in terms of loading, But you just dont see mossbergs used on the circit much over here. Its a real shame.

Mind you actually trying to find and buy a new mossberg isnt an easy task. And people just hold onto the second hand ones for years.

    Mike.45 - forget the nova mate...... ;)

    get a BPS.

  6. Cool B)

Heard alot about you from mike,

Be good to meet you and get a bit of advice.

I'm hoping to come and shoot the RM3g aswell. A certain Mr Buchannan is helping me out with that one. :D

I'll keep you posted as to how i get on with the smithing, perhapes mike can help with the Franchi. ;) and my shooting ;):P

    Regards

    Ian.

  7. Thanks for the help,

I ordered Patricks book and it should be with me by the 18th. :D

You see mike.45 built me a browning Gold, with all the bells and whistles to shoot in limited. Works perfectly by the way. But my other auto that i use for modifyed is in need of a little work.

    Dont laugh...... ;)

Its a Franchi Variomax 912

    I said no laughing

I wanted to be different and it was the my first shotgun. I had a mag extension custom made for it, slaped a tru-glow open red dot on it and took a bit off the shell lifter to stop the 'pinch' But the action needs some work and maybe a trigger job. :D

i carnt seem to figure out what the small rod is for, as you look through the ejection port with the bolt locked back, level with the bolt face on the other side of the reciever, in amongst what i belive to be the guide rails for the bolt? Have any of your guns got this? I think it might have something to do with the shell lifter??

Can you shed any light :D

    Thanks.

  8. Hi everyone,

How do you know what can and carnt be polished/touched or grinded in a shot gun action to make it smoother/faster and more reliable?

    Auto or pump

Polish off any wear marks?

in general what has to be done?

Any help would be greatfully received :D

  10. I was going to get a nova, after i saw how well Ade did with one. Its that 2 shells at a time thing that does it for me.

I only bought the fabarm as a 3 shot back in the summer to do my Basic course with, as Peter still had my franchi.

I figured i might aswell tweek it a bit and fiddle with it ( whilst im not practicing with the gold) :D

Untill funds permit the nova has got to stay on my shopping list for a bit longer. <_<

I do about 15 mins practice a day,

Obi wons crown.......... will soon be mine............... :P

  11. Hi everyone,

I recently bought a fabarm FP6 pump action, (cause it was very cheap) but it is basicaly brand new, i slapped a choate extension tube on it, new mag spring and hi vis follower, it will hold 9 + 1. But i've got a dremmell and itchy fingers!!! :D

What would one do to make it a smooth and sloppy practical gun?

What would you do to a pump gun in general to improve it?

    I shoot in limited normally.

Any help/sugestions would be much apprieciated.

    Kind Regards

    Ian Lock.
