At the end of Third wall is well uprange.

Your statement before picture or video were posted was that the RO never passed the wall.

A picture of the RO at the end of the wall was posted and you had to refine your statement.

He was nearly to the 2nd portion of the wall, meaning he was 8' past the point where you remembered he was, after you had to be corrected.

You were an eye witness to this and were clearly proven wrong in your recollection.

That's exactly why we should allow video for these situations.

And note how far back the scoring RO actually is. He is basically at the end of the three walls and the shooter is now indexing on the turner that has not been activated. And I still saw the RO (s) get out of the way plenty fast when shooter finally decided to move back. This is an excellent example of why video is not allowed as evidence in uspsa.

I don't understand how you can have this position in the same thread where you had to post this:

The scoring RO is in the shooting area. I stand corrected! But he appears to be way uprange from the shooter and was not in the way.

Your recollection of the event was clearly not correct in your first post.

This seems like a perfect example of why it should be allowed.

  3. Here's a related question. What if they fall and place the gun on the ground in order to get up and then pick the gun up. Is that considered a dropped gun?

    No.

    Rule# 10.5.3

"Note that a competitor who, for any reason during a course of fire, safely and intentionally places the handgun on the ground or other stable object will not be disqualified provided:,,,,"

  4. Disappointed to see suppressors aren't allowed, but I guess it's hard to pick up the shot without them at times.

I love suppressors but I agree there isn't a place for them here.

Unsuppressed .22 rimfires are tough enough with some timers.

  5. Glad to see the issue is resolved... I also tumble in the FART with no pins.

The first time was an accident... I usually had the pins in the drum and dumped the brass on top of them, then mixed it up. Then one time I dumped the brass in while the pins were not in the drum. Once I went to rinse them, I noticed there pins were left out, and that the brass looked pretty much the same.

After that, I figured the pins were not worth the time since I wasn't decapping them, and I didn't care about the inside of the case. I actually think the fouling left on the inside helps the brass not stick to the expander, but that might be my mind trying to justify the laziness of skipping the pins.

To dry, I just use a few old towels after shaking out what I can using the slotted endcap on the drum. Dump them in the first towel, do the old bowling ball polish, dump them on towel 2, do the same, then dump them on towel 3 and leave sit for awhile.

  6. Half the people at USPSA matches aren't USPSA members. Give USPSA members priority - quick fix.

    Absolutely!! the

I don't know whether the posters using the term "legal" mean under USPSA Rules or under the law. Certainly under the law there are private clubs that do not allow non- members. So it is clearly ok to restrict matches to members. If there is a USPSA rule that says you can not require membership for L1, I have never seen it. If there is it can be changed.

I guess I have never figured out why requiring membership is a bad idea.

I don't remember where it was addressed, but I don't believe the club can host a USPSA match and not allow outside members. Once the club hosts the match, it must abide by the USPSA rules, which allows non members to shoot level 1 matches. (I think, I'm hunting for the rule that says this... I could be wrong)

Rule 6.4.1 doesn't address membership requirements either way on level 1 matches, just that you have to be a member for two or higher. Appendix one recommends competitors to be members but only requires it for II and above.

  7. I'm using a cement mixer and an getting more than passable results with no media. Insides of cases aren't as clean, but ssshhhh! No one can tell once they are loaded.

Lots of water changes though, but these are far easier with a mixer than a tumbler.

I think that is really more helpful than hurtful.

I notice less of the cases sticking on the expander than I did with new brass or brass cleaned with the stainless pins.

  8. Ran a load of .45ACP/44Mag and another load of .38 Special/.38 Super/.380ACP/9mm through...

I'm more convinced now the pins aren't worth the trouble if you don't care about the primer pockets.

This was all about efficiency of time since I have a few buckets left to clean.

I didn't use any of the media separator products I had... only the strainer that comes with the tumbler (that fits inside the drum) and a few old towels.

    -Nothing decapped

-Some of these were pretty muddy so I ran just the cases and some water for about 15 minutes, strained out the water, then added new water and the other products.

    -Water/Lemshine/Car Wash&Wax, again, NO pins

    -Ran for 2hrs

-Rinsed a few times using the strainer endcap.

-Dump on one towel, roll around on another towel, let dry on a third towel.

  9. Frequently I'll start mine at night and let it run for 1 hour typically. I usually don't get back to it until 20 hours later and I see no difference in the brass typically after letting it sit for 20 hours versus dealing with it right after it shuts off (other than the hot water now being cold and the suds are greatly reduced).

When I leave mine to sit for awhile before I can get the brass out, I'll usually turn it back on for ten or fifteen minutes before dumping it out.

  10. Thought I'd post my major load using WST, forgot to post it earlier.

Bullet: Bullet Works 180 gr. RNFP Plated
    Powder: Winchester WST 5.0 grs.
    Primer: Winchester Small Pistol
    Case: Winchester
    LOAL: 1.200
    Avg. Vel.: 959.61 fps
    ES: 42.27
    SD: 13.89
    PF: 172
Recoil Spring: Tool-less guide rod, 14 lb. Recoil Spring & Aluma Buffer Pad

Does your edge work okay with a 1.200 OAL?

My buddy just bought one and I'm going to help him get started in loading. I got on here expecting most people to be loading long... I load 1.135" for .40 in my Glocks.

  11. I think Lim Minor is generally accepted to be at a disadvantage relative to Lim Major, the question is why is this accepted and ignored.

Document whether shooters were scored at major/minor at the least.

I would suggest tuning the difference somehow so that the major/minor difference is more or less a wash.

Am I wrong in that it's supposed to be a disadvantage?

You want more points, you have to give up a little capacity and deal with a little extra recoil... which is a technique issue and really not all that big of a deal.

When I switch back and forth between Production and Limited, the recoil isn't the biggest difference to me... it's the weight of the magazines if I had to pick one thing.

  12. I have both a square deal and 650. I reload primarily on the 650. The SDB is for when I load 45. Read too many stories about primer tubes going bang, trying to fit a large primer into a small hole. The ram on a 650 will push it in, the SDB I feel that I have a better feel for Not cramming in the wrong primer.

OK, I'll bite. How does a large primer windup on the small primer punch when the correct SPP tube is installed. (Yes, assuming the small tube is installed). Sounds like incorrect machine setup.

The machine will be set up and using large primers, he's referring to when a .45 case with a small primer pocket gets mixed in with all of his large primer brass.

Like anyone else that sorts brass by hand, you know one is going to get through.

  13. I'm going for simplicity in the process.

    Latest try:

-About 12lbs of .40 brass, NOT deprimed

    -NO pins

-Water to top of the hex in the drum (FA tumbler)

    -Armor All Wash & Wax

    -Sprinkle of Lemshine

-Air dry for about 36 hours.

    The picture is two loads.

  14. Interesting thread. I got complaints about TOO MUCH steel for BITB. Ricky always designs awesome stages, so I seriously doubt anybody will complain after they shoot them. If anybody is really concerned I can have our treasurer cut you a refund check.

I suppose you don't have to worry about the complaining unless your matches stop selling out.
