Close to 40rpm is good for me....not a race but if I can roll size the brass quicker and keep reliability then I am happy.
Now I am working on my second Case pro....installing a new motor.

If you plan to build your own, I suggest 1/4 hp motor or higher. The 1/8 hp will do but a little more HP won't hurt.

I added a couple of modifications to the Case Pro that make it more user-friendly and less prone to damage.
1. I installed a microswitch on the case feeder tube, a few inches above the bushing. Wired it in series with both the sizer and the feeder motors.
This prevents the machine from running when you either run out of cases, or also, if your feeder jams. Otherwise you just keep wearing out the feeder motor or clutch.
What happens once the "last" case clears the switch? you should still have a few cases in there, right? Do you manually remove cases or you just wired the switch to the CF motor?

I used to run a Dillon die followed by the U-die thinking it was easier on the brass. It worked very well but not 100%. Now I have a CasePro and roll all of my range brass I also removed the U-die and they all fit the case gauge now.
Case-Pro then FL size and you are good to go.....it just works. I am Using Dillon carbide FL sizing die.

Might consider a Case Pro.
Casepro = $800+
Lee die - $20
Dillon die - $30
Elbow grease - $0
I will stick with the $50 investment and achieve the brass size needed for reliable function in my blaster
Besides, casepro is only going to size down to 0.423 or so (saami spec).
If your $50 setup gets the job done and you are satisfied, then look no further.

What is the base diameter after casepro? If > 0.416 I am not interested.
I random picked 5x 40 S&W fired cases and after roll sized on Case-pro 100. I am getting 0.421" average. This is just rolled sized, NOT full length sized yet.
SAAMI is 0.424" - 0.010"

Can you visually check for powder in station 3 before cycling?
Yes you can....easier if your shell plate is bellow your eye level.

Not to derail the subject, but I am curious if this really speeds up the 650 reloading? I find that if I pull the handle any faster then the time it takes for me pick up a bullet, schtuff starts going wrong.. in a hurry.
First of all, please make sure you finish the stroke. Bullet feeder any day!
Can people quantify and expound more on their answers? Maybe something like how much faster it is and such?
I guess one liners are rarely helpful.
My reply was clear. Make sure to finish the stroke.....I don't matter the speed.

I processed 7k pcs of LC 308 cases and it required a lot of work to get it back to specs. Lube is your friend but too much lube will cause problems as well.

Case-Pro 100 will fix your problem and save you a LOT of work. I roll size all my brass before loading. I have tried U-dies, push thru dies and bulge busters (redding and lee) Case-Pro is hard to beat.

I have tried manual, drill and Dillon super swage....it gets old real quick indeed. I don't understand how some folks do it by hand....i guess they enjoy the process
1050 is a MUST if you are dealing with crimped brass.

Well $2,500.00 is certainly an interesting starting place. Unless I miss my guess there will not be just a ton sold. The R&D may eat them up to recover. So lets see...... 1800.00 Dillon + 2500.00 Mark 7 + 350.00 Bullet feeder. So out the door no tax or shipping a total loader would cost $ 4, 650.00 Really!

$2,500 is expensive for the average reloader.
$1200/$1500 for the Forcht and you can still buy another 650 or 1050 and you have a proven system plus the flexibility of having another press that will do rifle.....

I'm prodding Forcht now to come up with a longer stroke model... Modding the press is really no big deal. How many frames have you ever heard of that failed on the 1050? In reality, the entire center could be cut out of the bottom. The bolts would hold it in place to keep the frame from trying to spread.
I'd like to see Forcht cut out the bottom center, make a spacer for under the press to increase eccentric to table clearance, then use a bigger eccentric to increase stroke. That would be the bomb-diggity.
The downside to the Mark7 is that it will never see the speeds that the Forcht can achieve. There's simply too much mass for a small stepper motor to control. I'm guessing they've tested that already and found that 1800 is the limit.
On the 650XL auto-drive that I made, based loosely on the PW auto-drive, I can tell you that the limits due to inertia and weight are 2500...again, thats on a 650 which doesn't have the mass the 1050 does.
I never said modding the press frame was a big deal. What I mean is modifying the press and shorten the stroke making it impossible to process/load 308 and very difficult to process/load 223/556 at high speed. I am NOT saying the Forcht Auto drive is not the best out there at the moment. It is to me and I like it.

NON crimped brass will make your reloading experience a little better.

Will see once they post a video....it sure looks interesting. The NO mods to the press and keeping the full stroke is a huge plus. Makes it a lot easier to load 223/556. That's one thing I don't like on the Forcht.

Make sure it is setup for pistol (the short side) facing towards the shell holder.

At the gearbox output seems about 30rpm.
@ 30 RPM it is a bit slow for me I like to run it 40 RPM It is a good balance for speed and reliability.
