  1. When you say “ghost load” are you inserting the shell into the receiver by hand (through the ejection port)?

If yes, try letting a shell pop out of the mag tube under spring pressure and see if the hang up still happens. When inserted by hand the shell may not be sitting far enough back in the receiver to fully clear the shell latch.

For a "ghoast load" I load the magazine tube full, crack open the bolt and place a shell on the lifter, then close the bolt.

I don't think it does, but I will double check to see if the issue happens when I let the mag shoot the shell the lifter.

  2. I've search the forum and found a question or two similar, but I don't think they are the same.

I purchaed a VM tactical in October and during the first match ran into something odd. This was a repeatable scenero that would only occur when I ghoast loaded the VM with a round (sitting on the lifter) and one not in the chamber. On the buzzer, I'd pick up the VM, rack the bolt back, and it would "hang", with the shell still sitting on the lifter. By applying gentle pressure to the bolt handle, the gun would go into full battery and function perfect. This never occured when starting with a round in the chamber, or if a round wasn't left on the lifter.

After the match I throughly cleaned the VM it didn't change the situation and actually forgot about this 1 malfunction that I tested imetetly after the stage (so a total of two times it occured). The gun got boxed up and sent to C Rums for a welded lifter, out of battery mod and a couple other things. Shotgun came back a couple days ago - all the work looks fantastic - but while practicing loading last night the same bolt "hang" happened. Didn't tell Jeff about this .

    Any suggestions?
