  1. Thanks to the staff that ran the match. This was a great match and I really enjoyed it. The physical obstacles were great. The climbing wall, the rope, the tow straps on stage 4, they were all great. This was my second Blue Ridge the match was challenging and fun.

Just for some constructive feed back, stage 2 was very dissapointing, and I heard many complaints. It's fun to test accuracy, but paying the match fee and driving long distances just to shoot like a normal shooting line at home was pretty boring. Being shooter number 1 I also found that even with electronic muffs on it was very hard to hear the timer going off if there was any other shooting going on on stage 1.

  2. Thanks for all the replies guys.

The main slugs that I have been using are the Rio low recoil slugs. I have also tried tru bal slugs, low recoil federal tactical slugs, and a few other full power hunting slugs.

The gun has not been grouping well at all. I have only ever been able to get one decent group and that was at 50 yards. At 50 yards it was about 2 feet to the right and about 1.5 feet low. That was early on with the gun. Since then I am have trouble hitting a 3x3 foot piece of cardboard at 50 yards. The gun has probably had about 100 slugs through it.

The gun is the competition model so it has the rear sight on it. I have tried multiple different rear inserts with no luck. The tube on the gun is the one piece tube that Remington is using. I think I remember reading that it is not the same as the Versatube.

  3. I keep hearing stories about this or that company's CS department been horrible, so I had to pass along a contrasting story.

I lost the retaining pin that holds the shell latch pin of my Mossberg JM Pro 930 when I did the loading port opening work on my shotgun. I fixed temporarily with a hitch pin that I bought at advance auto, but wanted to get the original pin.

So today I called Mossberg CS to request a replacement. I live in Puerto Rico, so many times shipping can be very expensive, or companies just plain refuse to ship to Puerto Rico, since they consider it an International shipment.

Long story short, they swtiched from their standard provider UPS/FEDEX to USPS Priority and shipped all the requested parts at no cost. Took me just 5 minutes over the phone. Excellent. :D

Do you know what size the replacement cotter pin you got from advanced auto was? I am having the same problem right now, but I have a big match to shoot in next week and I am not sure if the replacement from Mossberg will be here in time.
