Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. "Me three" on the magwell, I installed a Wilson Combat Bullet Proof magwell and experienced the same issues with it lining up...but as stated, once installed it's been great! I sent in for the cleaning kit/extra mags rebate, they weren't running the cash back rebate when I purchased mine last year, still haven't received either yet. As for the pistol itself I'm really happy so far and agree it's a lot of gun for the money. Regards, Paul
  2. I'm using Wilson Combat .40 cal mags item #47FX. I've put a couple hundred rounds down range already through the 3 I've purchased and have had zero issues. Regards, Paul
  3. Sorry to hear about your issues AK, hopefully you'll get some help from Para. Ran another 100 rounds through mine today without a hiccup, the Wilson mags and magwell are working great and I love the Wilson grips as well but I agree it needs some trigger work. I looked at my safety as well and although it doesn't fit flush it's equa-distant on both sides so not sure if this is an issue or not (remember this is my first 1911 so I don't know any better) Regards, Paul
  4. Thanks for the reply guys, I appreciate it. I'll check those models out... Regards, Paul
  5. Getting ready to put an RMR on my G35, any suggestions on what size (MOA) dot? Also any input on type of RMR is appreciated also. I'm leaning towards the 02 version but would be interested to hear opinions and experiences with all types. It'll be a milled into the slide version no matter who I go with (Zev, Lone Wolf, etc) Thanks in advance! Regards, Paul
  6. I have both, a lightened slide on my G22 and a stock slide on my G35. I feel the G22 is a bit sharper then the G35 but chalked this up to the difference in length. I want both pistols to shoot flatter so I've done some research and experimenting. I recently installed a Lone Wolf threaded barrel and compensator on the G35 and the change was dramatic. Something no one has mentioned (and maybe because this isn't allowed in whatever class you're shooting) is changing the guide rod/spring out. I recently read a great post here in the 1911 forum that also had a video attached showing the difference in springs with different weights and the effect they had on lock time and muzzle rise. After watching the video and doing a little more research I purchased a 15lb spring for my G22. It just arrived so I haven't had a chance to try it out but the idea is with the slide being "lightened" the 2lb reduction in the spring should compensate for the reduced mass allowing the gun to shoot flatter and stay on target better. I'm also going to try it out on the G35 as Lone Wolf suggests running a lighter spring on compensated pistols. I'll post after I get my G35 back and reassembled after cerakoting... Regards, Paul
  7. D, I haven't shot this in a match so unfortunately I can't contribute anything there, but I have run several hundred rounds down range already through my Pro Comp and must say I'm very impressed with it. I shot a double stack several years ago and didn't have a very good experience with that pistol (more my fault then the guns) so it took some doing to convince me that the Pro Comp would be worth my hard earned dollars. After shooting a Black Ops version one of the range owners tossed to me I was sold. This is my first 1911 as I've mentioned before, and I couldn't be happier! Regards, Paul
  8. Yep, sometimes you gotta work with what you're given. Just happy to have a G35, wanted one for years but could never find a good excuse to buy one. Traded one of my many AR's for one this fall and have been happy with it so far!
  9. The mag release is identical to the one on the Glock Store website. It doesn't list a manufacturer, but the design is the same. I'm looking at having my G35 cerakoted in the burnt bronze, but I'm looking at coating the frame and leaving the slide, magwell, mag release and beaver tail black. Regards, Paul
  10. Here's a pic of my Pro Comp with the Wilson Combat grips I ordered. Magwell should be here next week, I'll post another pic when I get that installed. Very happy so far with this pistol and feel I made a good choice for my first 1911... Regards, Paul
  11. Naka I agree on the take up, I've shot both my Pop's and brothers XD's and that was one of the few things I didn't like about those guns. I really do like the trigger on the Para, but again the only thing I have to compare it to is my Glocks, one with a Zev trigger and the other a Pyramid trigger. I would like the trigger on the Para to be a little lighter and some of the more experienced members made some good adjustment suggestions on the other thread. I'd be interested to hear about any mod's you make, keep us posted. Regards, Paul
  12. Chanman, picked mine up a couple of weeks ago and so far I'm very impressed. This is my first 1911 so my experience my not provide you with any useful insite, but I posted a range report on the other Para thread. I'm using Wilson Combat mags along with the stock mags and have had no problems with either although I prefer the Wilson mags 9 round capacity. I agree about Naka getting his checked out, the trigger pull on mine although heavier than my 2 modified Glocks is nowhere near 10lbs. Looking forward to spending more time with this pistol and learning more about the 1911 platform. IMHO it's alot of gun for the money. Regards, Paul
  13. AznDragon I will if someone will send me their STI Trojan... ParaGunner I'll look into the C& S FCG... Regards, Paul
  14. Thanks for the input guys. I'll look into the sear work, my local gunsmith is pretty versed in 1911's if I feel I can't handle it myself. Half the fun of buying this one was learning all about a new pistol. Marv Z I'd hope not to drop it, but murphys law would probably jump up and bite me if I try the 80's parts removal... Naka 16 thanks for the link... Regards, Paul
  15. Thanks guys, furyalecto I posted a range report on the Para in the 1911 section under the current thread on the Pro Comp 40 today. Regards, Paul
