  1. So is it good for vanilla Production as well as long as you make the weight on the Production list?

No idea. I would assume yes, considering the same gun is on the production list as well. But I cannot confirm that. There are also plenty of production models that come threaded and I am sure some of those are on the production list as well.

  2. I would say no. If it was a performance center ported CORE from the factory it would be good to go. But the aftermarket porting I believe is a no go.

  3. Send Troy McManus (DNROI) email dnroi@uspsa.org

That said is the slide racker striker plate sold and labeled as a firing pin stop? If not I would highly doubt it's ok

Thus is the part in question yes it is a solid one piece replacement.

So they call it a "EZ slide racker" seems like a stretch to claim is a firing pin stop when the manufacturer doesn't even label it as one.

Just to add fuel to the fire, Springer's EZ slide racker does function in place of the OEM firing pin retaining plate, no matter what Springer calls it. It will be interesting to see what Troy has to say.
My thought exactly. It's not going to make or break a match, but I use it in 3 gun and I figured if it's legal in carry optics might as well use that to rack the slide as opposed to my optic.

  4. Exchange of minor EXTERNAL

    components

"Sights, firing pins, firing pin retainers, pins, extractors and ejectors MAY

be replaced with OFM or aftermarket parts.

Any other components which are externally visible may ONLY be

replaced with OFM parts which are offered on the specific model of gun or

another approved gun from the same manufacturer except as specifically

clarified below. Examples of external components which may only be

replaced with OFM parts include (but are not limited to): magazine

releases, slide stops, thumb safeties and triggers.

The Vanek trigger, much like the Speed Bump trigger, has an external

modification that makes it illegal for Carry Optics division. The Speed

Bump trigger has the travel screw mounted to the rear of the trigger and is

visible externally, the Vanek trigger, has relocated the pivot pin about

3/16 above the factory specs, and has filled in the original hole with a

black material that is still visible on inspection.

    Special Notes/Clarifications:

Barrels are considered external parts and are subject to specific restrictions in 21.4 and associated rulings.

A factory/OFM magazine release which extends only the length of the

magazine release may be used. A magazine release which provides a larger

surface area (paddles, buttons) may only be used if it is an OFM part

available on an approved model of gun.

Externally-visible parts from custom shop guns will only be considered

OFM parts if the custom-shop gun is on the NROI list of approved Carry

    Optics guns."

"UNLESS a modification is SPECIFICALLY authorized in the rules or SPECIFICALLY

authorized in an official, published NROI interpretation, it is considered a PROHIBITED

    MODIFICATION."

If it isn't listed it has to be a oem part

Thanks for the reply. Just so I am clear. You are saying the slide racker is prohibited? When I read it as firing pin retainer. I figured an aftermarket part would be ok.

  5. I was reading the rules this morning and per my interpretation (which has little meaning) my Springer Precision EZ slide racker would be legal in this division. As it completely replaces the striker retaining plate. And per the rule it states that that part can be replaced with aftermarket parts. Correct me if I am wrong. Also, if I am understanding the rule correctly my TTI basepad will be legal as well provided they do not exceed 140mm? Any help is appreciated.

  6. The Huldra x-pre2 which is exclusively sold at Mills Fleet Farm which is a Midwest based company is clearancing the entire line. The rifle normally retails at almost 2k and is on sale for like 975 right now it can be ordered online if they have any left. It is a piston gun if that matters to you but the specs on the rifle look very good.

  7. Will these be production/SSP legal?

If I were a betting man I would say no simply because they are not producing anew actual firearm. The polymer frame is what is actually the firearm and that serial number is tied to a specific configuration of that firearm, and the factory configurations in which they are produced dictate the production gun list. So I wouldn't think these will be production legal but we can hope. I have been wrong on more than one occasion.

  8. I do jot have many rounds through my Apex barrel since I had shoulder surgery and have not been cleared to shoot a 2 handed grip yet. I can however talk about my fitting process. The muzzle on my 5" pro series was tight and took a fair amount of fitting on the muzzle end to get the barrel into the slide I Had to remove material in other spots other than where APEX shows in the video the rest of the fitting was easy and done within 40 minutes. I did have barrel springing so I used sharpie on the muzzle end to see my contact points and very slowly fit the muzzle end again to remove the springing. This was a first generation production barrel that I purchased at the end of February. I had to send it back to have the relief cut added and APEX just swapped me a new barrel since I had already fit the barrel. And my slide should be sitting in my mailbox when I get home.

  9. So I haven't shot a USPSA match as I started in 3 gun. I own the performance center ported CORE I am curious if I buy a threaded barrel will this be legal in carry optics. I would like to get a threaded barrel because ultimately I would like to run a supressor on this for my nightstand gun. I have a factory barrel from my pro series I can use if it's not legal and I will do that until APEX gets out of the communist Republic of California and starts producing their apex grade barrels with a threaded option. I tried to decifer this on my own but was not able to find a definitive answer. Thank you in advance to those more knowledgeable than I.

  10. I have the RCI and a Nordic (from a Versa) follower. Doesn't make a difference.

Changed the latch spring to the double one found on the Versa. Improved it a little. Loaded with 10 it won't kick out the first two still.

Is the lifter down far enough to allow the latch to move over. I have seen 1301's that needed the lifter tuned to allow the shell release button to work properly. Also is this an issue under live fire or just when trying to charge the gun?

  11. OK the previous posts I've read say 12" past the tube. You guys are saying 6" / 8" past the tube for the Stoeger?

I run mine untrimmed on all my 12 round tubes both my Versamax an my m3000. My Springs are full length. I would definitely not go any shorter than 12". If I were you I would try replacing the follower. The orange plastic ones the come from Stoeger aren't that good.

  12. Hi All,

Since the cat was let out of the bag, We don't have an eta or price yet for the top end as we are preparing for our transition out of the state of CA.

What I can tell you is that when they are available, there will be different sight options (optics cut is one) as well as availability in 9 initially, with .40 to follow shortly thereafter.

The new slides will encorporate several elements that I feel will improve function and enhance accuracy. We plan on seeing how well our design will work at Bianchi Cup 2017 Metallic division as well as other major events.

More detailed information will be presented at the NRA Show.

Hey Randy what is the time line on moving out if CA? And after that happens when can we expect to see threaded apex grade barrels. I'm just trying to time my supressor purchase. I can't wait to get my hands on an Apex long slide. Do you have any plans to partner with a holster manufacturer like bladetech so I can get a nice holster for competition once these are available?

  13. I asked our guys to reconfigure the feed ramp, as I was measuring some inconsistency in some of the barrels. Our ramp is steeper than factory due to the change in dwell time (which accounts in part for our acuracy).

The next production run will have the clearance cut for loaded rounds, and a gentler angle on the ramp. Most guns seemed to run fine, but I have seen about 10 reports back that some guns were not feeding properly.

Randy, the barrel I ordered this morning from Brownells (with 2-day shipping! Do want!!!)... will it have the cutout and modified ramp, or did they have a considerable number of the older ones on hand? I wonder how long they're keeping these in inventory before they move out.

My gun is one of the earliest 9L's made which surely has a 1:18 twist, so I've been avoiding 147s thus far and I'm excited at this barrel's potential. I plan to fit it when tracking says it will arrive, on Thursday and shoot a few photos of the groups I manage with it in on Saturday morning - I'll run a few mags through it early that morning, then shoot an IPDA match with it.

If the front end of my 9L's slide needs fitting, I'll hold off on that and contact you Friday morning, I suppose, given the issues the guys above were having.

Unless you can describe right now where I'm going to need to remove material on whichever design of barrel that Brownell's is sending me, I'll plan to hold off and call you Friday morning if the muzzle of the barrel doesn't slip in without fitting, just in case the design I receive is different from your YouTube video.

This gun has been cerakoted so I already anticipate needing to remove the coating in all of the places where the barrel is fit to the slide BEFORE beginning to remove material from the barrel, as well.

Also - any suggestions for a recommended OAL for a bullet like the flat-nose 125gr I usually shoot?

    1449595730937-1133333419.jpeg

Brownells should have at least some of the updated barrels. I know that an order went out a couple of weeks ago. If yours doesn't, you can send it in to us before you begin the fitting process, and we can machine in the mods.

Our current barrels should handle an overall length of 1.142", assuming the bullet is .355 diameter.

    -Randy

Randy what is the turn around time to have this done?

Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

If the barrel is untouched, it usually takes us about a day, since the fixtures are set up for the unaltered locking lug dimensions and can be inserted into the production run.
    And if already fit?

  15. What recoil springs are everyone running with these? I noticed in their fitting video that apex recommend the stock recoil spring. Is anyone running this barrel with either a 13 or 15 lb spring?

I am running a 13 lb. spring in my 5" pro series, and haven't had any issues. I only have about 100 rounds through it though.

  16. The semi drop in from Apex is a great barrel. It does require fitting but a competent gunsmith or you can do it with just a few tools, and a little patience.

  17. After seeing an m3k in person for the first time last week. I think the port work is good it may just need to be opened at the front to push it forward just a little bit. The follower also could stand to be replaced I replaced the follower in my m3000 with a nordic one. I polished the outside of the mag tube on my m3000 where the action bar and recoil spring ride. I also swapped the front sight.

  18. The reset is a moot point as many others have said. I love my m&p pro. Between the apex trigger and my new Apex barrel I think I have cured my itch to get a 2011. This gun shoots amazing and the trigger is awesome. Now I just need Apex to come out with threaded barrels for my m&p CORE performance center.
