I got a reply over at the HK forum. Just  changed the sights to suit ones eyes, magazine extensions , +5 Taylors are suggested, and shoot.

Can’t hate that, plus you’re in Limited for “cheap” that way.

  2. I picked up a VP9 on a trade recently and I’m going to give it the old “Pepsi challenge” against my Stock 2.  I love the Tanfo, but I’m coming to a realization that I just shoot striker guns better than DA/SA.  Or at least I feel like I do.

You're getting really good reliability out of the 10lb spring.  Wow that's incredible! Guess I need to break out the Flitz and go to town on round 2 polishing up the gun.

Hopefully I can eventually get down to reliably igniting Winchester primers with the PD 13# spring without resorting to expensive measures such as getting a 1050 for consistent primer seating depth.

I load Winchester primers on a 550b.  Last couple weeks I was about 99% with a PD 14# and the stock firing pin setup, with a couple DA light strikes.  I switched to the PD optimized firing pin and spring yesterday, along with dropping to a 13# hammer spring,  and today ran 300 rounds through the gun (Stock 2) with 100% ignition.

Just load short until reamed. I ran 1.060 , 10's of thousands. They feed just fine.

I've got a couple hundred at 1.08 that I can probably set back a bit and see how it goes.  Not trying to push the pressure through the roof though.  Sitting at 4.0gr N320 now (about 130PF), so I should be good.

I didn't have safety issues. I had qc and gun to gun compatibility issues. I didn't want a cz load a pcc load a glock load etc.

I wanted a load. Making my cz take a longer load by reaming the barrel solved all those issues.

Did you do your own reaming or send it out?  If you sent it out, where did you send it?  I'm in the same boat with my Stock 2, and the go-to Tanfo guy is unavailable for several weeks.

  6. Well I shot my first match with the new gun today.  I was all over the place on the first stage, with the errant rounds hitting high (and a few Mikes high, oops), but started to settle down as I got used to it.  Had one light-strike on the day.  Unfortunately that was on the Classifier, first DA pull, and it threw my cadence off so I blew that one.  But all in all a good day and I'm liking it a lot thus far.

One step forward, two steps back though.  Got home to my refill of bullets waiting for me on the porch which was nice.  It seems, however, that ACME has re-profiled their 124gr RN since the last batch I bought.  Rounds passed the plunk and spin at 1.095 OAL previously, but now will not chamber even at 1.083 (which is what they're coming off the press at now, even though I've changed no settings on the dies).  So I guess I'm going with jacketed bullets in small batches until I can get my barrel reamed for the coated ones.

  7. Went and saw this tonight.  Pretty badass frankly.  I won't run spoiler for those that haven't seen it yet, but at one point he's straight up running a moving, two-way, 3-gun stage offing bad guys like the national pastime.  TTI G34, offset irons on a comped shorty AR, tricked out Benelli M4 and even reloading from 3-gun shell caddies.  Looked like all his practice paid off.

I think having a low limit is a good idea. We get used to thinking that a supply of bullets is just a click away, it's not always that easy.

I let my supply of 135g 9mm coated get down to the wire. The shipment was a few days late just like the OP. The thing that saved me was the fact that I had about 1500 completed rounds in the ready so I would have been ok for another 4-6 weeks. But yes lay in a store you are going to shoot them eventually.

I agree and usually do.  This time I missed the mark so I'm paying for it, literally.  But in the end I picked up 250 "hold-over" bullets and got them loaded up so I'm GTG for tomorrow.  My usual supply should get here in a couple days so I'll be back in business.

  9. I played with some washers, and it was borderline at best.  BT sent a single shim for the bottom screw instead of two for the upper screws.  I got irritated and hit it with a sander.  It's flat now, straight up and down, but it's damn near through the plastic on the bottom screw, enough that I had to reinforce it.  At the end of the day I'm just going to order a different holster, probably Red Hill, and chalk up the BT to a learning point.  They aren't what they used to be.

You can but you won't know what velocity/PF you're getting until you chrono. It may be less for the plated.

It's a local match so there won't be a chrono, and I'll only be using them for this weekend to hold me over.  I feel like it won't be an issue, but I wanted to ask to make sure I wasn't overlooking anything important...like the kind of oversight that screws up a gun.

  11. Long story short my order of ACME 124gr RN coated bullets wasn't delivered today as scheduled (USPS issue, not ACME issue), likely won't make it tomorrow either, and I have a match on Saturday.  Locally I can only find Berry's 124gr RN plated so far.  Can I substitute those for the coated lead without issue (same bullet weight and profile)?  I know I'm going to lose a little velocity, but it's a local match and there's no chrono to worry about.  I won't have time to go chrono anything or test any loads tomorrow, so what I load is what I take on Saturday.  Opinions?

  12. As soon as they're in stock I'm ordering.  In the meantime I cut about 1/4 inch (four coils) off the Wolff spring.  Seems to be alright, and no hang-ups.  I didn't go too far as I was 99 out of 100 with the spring the way it was.  I also took a slow-motion of the hammer drop that shows the FP extending pretty far through the breech.  I think it'll do until next week.

I made the horrible, horrible mistake of fondling one when I spotted it in a holster about 1000 yards away. I saw a glint of orange.....and thought: "could it be.....???"

And it was. It was a TS orange. Unfortunately, I knew the feller and he let me fondle it. Shouldn't have done that.

But  I went home and started pulling out everything I own to sell immediately to fund a purchase. The really bad part is that it's not likely to find any kind of deal now, so it's going to be 1800$. Sheesh.

AND, no holsters available right now. So not much hope for matches for a bit. Gotta wait a month for a RHT. If I were them I'd crank out a few black and Orange ones. Probably sell quickly.

I think CZ Custom still has some .40 TS Orange left.  They were under $1600.  May give them a call.

Just reiterating what Johnbu said about the firing pin spring setup your running. The one that comes with the Wolff recoil spring is extremely stiff and your loosing a lot of energy through that spring.

Tracking.  I intend to order one from y'all along with your firing pin once it's in stock.  In the meantime, am I better off with the Wolff fp spring or factory?

  15. Made the switch to Tanfoglio recently when I decided to get back in to Production.  Used to use a G19.  First match with my new Stock 2 this weekend.  Should be interesting.
