  1. Is the bottom one the Dawson Super heavy? It looks like a gen4 with backstrap in place. I was under the impression that they don't have a heavy one for this configuration yet....

Edit to add: They look awesome and I like the separate range bag idea!

  2. I figured that I'd start by polishing parts and a glockworx spring kit. It was cheap and I've been REALLY happy with my choice.

You may want to give it a try before dropping big money on one of the others.

  3. Good suggestions already but I'll add my $0.02

I believe that concentration is a skill. It has to be practiced just like your shooting does. Realize that it will be something that you wake up happy with one morning. It sounds cheesy but start with some short meditation or body/breathing awareness and build from there!

  4. i really like this stuff called spark from advocare. the company sucks (giant pyramid scheme) that product is really good! Gives you the perfect boost and no jitters. the strawberry-mango and watermelon are the good flavors.

+1 for this stuff! I didn't think anyone else out there was using it. I think their formulation 8-10 years ago was a different (better) but I am pleased with the current stuff.

Another one that you may look into is actually a pre-workout. It's made called Assault. It the only thing that I've ever taken that has truly gave me a "boost".

  5. I've never had a Dillon so I can't really compare. I can say that I've loaded quite a bit with my LNL and have been really pleased. The set-up was really straight forward and the few small "issues" that have came up were easy to fix.

If you've got any particular questions on the press let me know and I'll be happy to help!

  6. I spent the money on the Super Swage after I saw the video of the guy on YouTube who rigged his up with rubber bands and string to make it "automatic". I never got around to doing the mods and found that its easier for me to do just ream them with the hand tool....

  7. I was having problems with Tula primers not going off and tried some CCIs. For whatever it's worth, I went from ~2% failure with the Tulas to 0% failure with the CCIs after 600 rounds. This is out of a G17 with light springs.

    Hopefully I didn't jinx myself!

  8. Two completely different games. Steel challenge is less forgiving on the draw than USPSA. You just found a weakness in your draw that just doesn't show up when shooting USPSA. Most of the time in USPSA matches you are drawing while going to another position, so the draw doesn't hurt the time like a stand and draw for steel challenge.

I hadn't thought about that but in retrospect, it's very much the case. I'm gonna hit the draw a little harder this week!

  9. I had a disappointing afternoon today... BUT, I'll start the story with yesterday.

Yesterday I took a little "shooting on the move" clinic at a local range. It was a great day and I shot REALLY well. I've been dry-firing as much as possible and doing quite a bit of live fire practice so it was great to see that pay off.

Tonight, I decided to go to a small "steel challenge" match. 7 targets, 1 round on each, 5 runs. I had pretty high hopes after the way I shot yesterday. Well, I sucked it up. I think my best time was right about .08. I just couldn't make my hits and I felt horrible coming out of the holster... I felt like a totally different shooter.

I guess my point to all this is that I hated the way it felt. It's time to get serious and add some consistency to my shooting. I've got a few books on the way to me and I'm going to start a range diary here so I'll have something to be accountable to! Any other things you guys think I NEED to do?

    Thanks!

  10. Grx push through is the way to go hands down.

    I second that.

If you can add in a teenager needing gas money you'll have a bucket full of sized brass with little time spent. :goof:

Can I ask what the downside is to not using a die like that? I just use the sizer from my hornady set and it seems to be working out great. It's mostly glock brass but I've never had any problems...

  11. I have a thread going about this very same topic under "general reloading". I switched over to Tula recently because PV had them at a good price. Since then, I've had ~1-2 every 100 rounds. I have tried to fire them repeatedly and even in different guns to no avail.

I'm gonna keep the 7k i have left for practice rounds. I guess I can justify it as I will be concentrating harder on the sights when I know my next round could be the dud!

Edit to add: I guess to answer your question, no. I haven't found a way to tell which ones are going to go bang. I've gone through about 3k of em.

  12. Forgive me if this is in the wrong section.

I have had a couple chances to buy glock certificates but I have passed because I have no idea how they work. I googled a bit but it seems like most responses are outdated.

From what I gather, I take a GSSF certificate into a GSSF dealer and they place the order through glock. Is this right? Anyone know who is a GSSF dealer in Albuquerque? They seem to keep that info top secret.

    Thanks!

  13. Thanks for the info! I'm actually not loading WSF yet. Currently I'm using WST with FMJs (in 9mm production) and have been really pleased. I asked about WSF because I'm in the process of stepping up to limited 40 in a g35 and have read that WSF might be a little safer powder choice.
