  1. I got a Para 18.9 today and went to the range to try it out. My first impressions are favorable. However, this is my first 1911/2011 gun so I don't have much trigger time with similar guns. I have mostly used Glocks in the past. Anyway, a few times a round would chamber but the trigger would not engage and the slide would be stuck closed. I was only able to eject the round by holding the slide in my left hand and punching the back of the grip with my palm. It would take a couple of punches but the round would eventually eject. The last time the case ejected and left the bullet in the chamber. As this is my first experience with a 1911/2011, I am not sure if the problem is the gun or the ammo. I was shooting 147gr Freedom Munitions ammo. Anyone have any idea what causes this to happen?
  2. Thanks to all who responded. I discovered my problem was a damaged die. When I adjusted the pawl to work with the damaged die it was off on the other dies. I bought new dies and the press is working well. Thanks again.
  3. I bought a used Hornady Lock N Load and I am having trouble getting it set up. I have reloaded rifle calibers for years on a single stage press but I am lost with this press. I have tried watching youtube videos but hey have been no help. Is there anyone in the Houston area using the Lock N Load that I could pay to help me set this thing up? I have a portable reloading stand so i can bring the press to you.
  4. I think the most important thing is to go to the range already knowing which drills you are going to work on. Also, while shooting steel all the time can cause it's own issue, you might consider buying 2-3 "C" zone steel targets to take the taping out of the equation. I am curious as to what issues shooting steel all the time causes.
  5. Does anyone know the differences between these two guns?
