  1. Can anyone elaborate as to what makes the MTAC better than the Viper? As you may assume, those two are at the top end of the budget. And with that in mind, what makes the MTAC $100+ better than the TAC30? From what I understand the glass is the same but the TAC30 has the entire ocular lens turns for magnification vs. a magnification ring and the TAC30 has a push-button illumination button vs an illumination dial. Am I correct? Is that really worth the price difference. As you can see ive never handled any of these scopes, and don't have the means to do so before buying (live in the middle of nowhere)
  2. Hello, Im looking at these 4 scopes in 2 distinct price ranges. The first set im debating between is the Burris Tac30 vs. the Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 and the Vortex PST Viper vs the Burris MTAC. Im looking at the 1-4x models. Im not too picky on reticles, I'd prefer an illuminated dot, but its necessary by any means. Id also prefer an etched reticle, but I don't know how feasible that is in my price range (and I realize this doesn't apply to a few of the above models, but I wanted to throw this in as well in case there are other scopes out there I should look into) Thanks for any opinions!
  3. Running a 1-4x primary optic and trying to settle Ina secondary set of sights on the offset. I'm intrigued by the JP sight system. Any opinions or experience? I like the ability to change out the colors and rear sight on the JP. I am also considering the XS offset sights. I have heard some people can't get a good sight picture with them, but I'd have to try it out.
  4. So Im in the process of building a Seekins Rifle with JP innards. Here are the current specs: Seekins billet receivers WOA 18" rifle SS barrel Seekins Adjustable gas block JP Bennie Cooley Brake Seekins SP3R 15" rail Skeleton stock JP Low Mass BCG BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle ALG ACT trigger (for the time being) BADASS safety selector My question is: - Running a JP LMOS, can I get away with a regular rifle buffer and just removing some weight or do I need the JP buffer? - If I decide to go w/ the JP trigger instead of the ALG, do I need to use the JP Speed Hammer, or something else? - Do you guys that run this system use a different buffer spring? (Wold, JP, Superior, etc.) Anything else I should be aware of before I put this puzzle together? Thanks!
  5. Hello all. I have decided I want to dip a toe into competition shooting and I believe I have a the rifle and pistol equipment good to start with, but still question marks when it comes to shotgun. I have looked enough around here and other forums and the concenus seems to be don't buy a "starter gun" and either use a pump, borrow, or save for a M2, VersaMax, etc. Well I have an 8-9 year old Nova that I used as a turkey gun until I got a deal on a mossy 835. So the question is: what do I need/what should I do to the Nova to set it up for a 3-gun competition? Obviously a mag extension (to bring capacity up to 9?), and I may change sights, but not sure if there is anything else I need to do to it, so I thought I'd ask the experts here. Thanks!
